THE POWER OF YOUR GENEROSITY

LAST YEAR, DONATIONS PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN MAKING THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE FOR OUR PATIENTS, STAFF AND THE COMMUNITY:

Purchasing a Bonnie Bone Marrow Biopsy Skill Trainer™ to help develop an ongoing training program for clinicians at the hospital performing posterior iliac crest bone marrow biopsy procedures. The Bonnie Bone Marrow Biopsy Skills Trainer™ is a first-of-its-kind patient simulator designed to replicate, teach and reinforce the skills needed to execute the biopsy.

Providing more than 1,000 take-home HALO® Sleep Slacks to babies born at Baptist Hospital This is an important step to ensure that families do not experience a preventable tragedy, as accidental suffocation and strangulation of infants can be largely attributed to sleep environment risks associated with loose bedding and blankets. Sleep sacks provide parents a safer and more effective way to swaddle their newborn.

Showering our dedicated healthcare workers with gratitude and appreciation throughout the year with meals and relief packages to show appreciation for the work they do each day caring for our community. Acquiring a new GlideScope – the most comprehensive and flexible airway visualization system for video laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy and multimodal airway procedures. With the surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant, this vital tool was used during patient intubation, helping secure patient airways and often saving their lives

Purchasing two IV ultrasound machines, benefiting patients by decreasing the amount of needle sticks needed for those who have difficult venous access.

Paying It Forward

Born 14 weeks premature, Liana and Carlos de Mena's son Carlos Ray spent 92 days in the Baptist Hospital NICU Liana and her husband were always by his side, and the outstanding care they received from the staff extended to the family as well "They make it a point to make you feel that they care," she says.

Today Liana is grateful that Carlos Ray is a healthy, active boy. As a result of her experience, she wanted to give back, becoming the Foundation's events chair and supporting Baptist Hospital's NICU.

"Baptist is so important to our community," she says "And what they've done for my family is amazing."
