QUAIRADING SWIM MEET SUCCESS Written by Renee Anderson.
After having a huge one hundred and twenty five swimmers register for last Sunday’s annual Quairading swim meet, we all breathed a huge sigh of relief when the day rolled around with near on perfect weather conditions—after battling through the previous years storms. Our visitors rolled through the pool gates to blue skies and the smell of freshly cooked doughnuts and toasties. Swimmers travelled across from Narembeen, Bruce Rock, Merredin, Corrigin, Beverley and Kellerberrin ready for a day in the pool.
Quairading represented well on the day with thirty one competitors, many of whom travelled home to compete. Our kids all got in and had a red hot go in their races and we are so proud of their individual efforts and their willingness to give their best for their team events.
With fairly new records after the redevelopment of the pool, there were quite a few broken over the course of the day- local Keeley Gelmi did her best to raise the bar for future years by breaking several of the Open Women’s events records.
A lot of the locals made a visit to the dais throughout the day and took home a swag of golds, silvers & bronze medals (too many to name individually!). The new bathers were a stand out and it was great to be able to pick out the locals in their flash new digs.
The day was a huge success thanks to the preparation and hard work of members, competitors and volunteers both in the lead up to, and on the day. A huge thanks to you all-it is your sense of community spirit that allows us to host these fabulous days and makes them run so smoothly! See you at the pool!
