The committee is responsible for the management of the “Parker House” Building Reserve Funds which can be used to: •

carry out major electrical repairs/upgrades

Chairperson’s Report 2022/23 It gives me great pleasure to present this 22/23 Chairperson’s report after a very productive year. Outcomes achieved include:•
WACHS sub lease extension to 30 June 2025
It should be noted that the lease between the Shire of Quairading and the committee commenced on 1 November 2002 and is due for review. •
Completion of new kitchen at Parker House
Although a drawn-out and expensive project the result is much better than expected with the contractor able to remedy several ‘hidden’ issues. Sincere thanks to both ex CEO Nicole and ex EO
Review and acceptance of Terms of Reference
Replacement security screen doors at Parker House
Two quotes were obtained for 10 new security screen doors at Parker House. The quote from Ikes Home Improvements in Narrogin was selected and all doors have been replaced and useful modifications made to assist residents at a cost of $11,417.00. •
Rectification of entrance paving at Parker House
Ex EO Britt coordinated Digging Docker to rectify low spots that were prone to flooding in paving at front of Parker House along with removing and re-laying pavers to remove trip hazards in other pathways. •
Installation of second electric lift recliner
After a bit of a wait the second recliner arrived in July 2022. My hope is that both are being enjoyed and fully utilised. •

SAVE THE DATE Parker House 30th Birthday Celebration Tuesday 21st May 2024
REED Quairading December has been a month of Christmas craft for the staff and children at REED. The children absolutely love Christmas and helped put up decorations. We have been singing Christmas songs daily and of course Jingle Bells is still a big favourite. On the 14th we had our Christmas party with the families of our children. Santa came and gave all the children presents and then we were lucky enough to have another Santa come around on the fire engine and give out lollies to the children. The Christmas party is always a special and fun way to end the year for us, so thank you to all our parents who came and bought some yummy food which we all enjoyed. Now that 2023 is almost over we would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the community who have supported the centre by donating items through the year. We are very grateful. Lastly to our families, we will see you again next year for 2024 and to the ones who we won’t see, all the best for the New Year and beyond. Dear all After an incredible 25+ years serving you all in the wheatbelt of WA it is with a mix of emotions that I announce that Wheatbelt Physiotherapy has closed its doors. I will be moving to a new role with Aspen Medical at the Woodside Pluto Train 2 project. This new opportunity is located a long way from the Wheatbelt but still in a remote part of Western Australia. I will be utilising my skills in different ways but will primarily be acting in injury management and physiotherapy. It is a role that will extend on my current knowledge, a new challenge. It has been an honour to be a part of your lives, not only with your injuries and aches, but sharing your own experiences as we have lived and worked in the wheatbelt of WA, with its peculiarities and challenges, yet incredible beauty and diversity. The talk in my office has been a unique experience in itself; sheep, goats, cattle, wool, crops of all sorts, sandalwood, machinery, the good seasons and bad. I have had the pleasure of treating up to four generations of families as well as newcomers and ‘locals’ of all ages. I don’t know but I reckon I must have worked as a physio in more wheatbelt locations than any other health professional. Wyalkatchem, Cunderdin, Quairading, Dowerin, Goomalling, Northam, Wongan Hills, Dalwallinu, Koorda, Bencubbin, Merredin, York with visits to Southern Cross, Narembeen and Bruce Rock. I admit most places I go in the Wheatbelt, I get at least one g’day and usually a good couple of chats with a few of you. I hope this won’t change and I look forward to chatting with each of you outside the setting of my treatment room.

To unwind with other people, I enjoy… Making a recipe with my boyfriend. We call it "cosying up" and we go through a cookbook and choose a recipe. We often do it on a Sunday night and I think it's the nicest reset for the week.

Easy Christmas biscuits
Reindeer Biscuits • 20 pretzels • 10 red M&Ms • 20 candy eyes • 10 Tim Tam biscuits (see note) • 50g dark chocolate, melted, cooled Using picture as a guide, attach pretzels, M&M’s and candy eyes to Tim Tam biscuits using melted chocolate. Refrigerate until set. Bauble Biscuits • 90g dark chocolate, melted, cooled • 3 rainbow sour straps, cut lengthways into thin strips • 10 Venetian biscuits • M&Ms and M&Ms minis, to decorate Place melted chocolate in a small snap-lock bag. Snip off 1 corner. Using picture as a guide, fold sour strap pieces into small bows, securing with a little chocolate. Pipe chocolate onto biscuits. Attach bows, M&M’s and mini M&M’s to biscuits. Refrigerate until set. Pudding Biscuits • 90g white chocolate, melted, cooled • 10 milk chocolate digestive biscuits (see note) • 20 mini red M&Ms • 2 watermelon cloud lollies, thinly sliced Place melted chocolate into a small snap-lock bag. Snip off 1 corner. Using picture as a guide, pipe chocolate over top of each biscuit to form ‘custard’. Decorate with mini M&M’s and cloud lollies. Refrigerate until set.
