Situated in beautiful North West Wales, Bangor is surrounded by miles and miles of unspoilt coastline, with the spectacular mountainscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) on our doorstep.

Foundation year

Many of our courses have a foundation year option available, with a reduced entry tariff. Our foundation year courses are perfect if you don’t have the required qualifications for a degree-level course or are re-entering education.

International students can take a ‘Year Zero’ at Bangor University International College.

The city of Bangor

University buildings, accommodation halls and the city centre are all within walking distance of each other, so there’s no need to rely on public transport to get around.

Also centrally located is Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, which houses our Students’ Union, lecture theatres, a cinema, a theatre and places to eat.

A selection of shops, bars and eateries can be found on Bangor High Street, as well as the Upper Bangor area which is very popular with students.

Wrexham campus

Bangor University’s Wrexham campus is dedicated to Health Science subjects.

Just a 10-minute walk to the city centre, Wrexham is one of Wales’ newest cities, awarded city status in 2022.

Your Voice.

Undeb Bangor, the Students’ Union, is the voice of students and the home of student life at Bangor. The Students’ Union runs sports clubs, societies and volunteering projects.

We believe languages are the life blood of a diverse and inclusive culture. As well as the option to study parts of your degree through the medium of Welsh, students are invited to enrol on one module per semester (subject to availability) to learn another language, free of charge.

In September 2024, Bangor University launches its first medicine programme where students can complete their entire medical degree programme in North Wales.
