Where did you get the inspiration to become a fashion designer?

I used to read a lot of magazines from abroad since I was young. Thats where my inspiration came from. I saw how models wear designers brands and they do runways, I knew I could do the same here in Tanzania. I started designing my own clothes first. I did not like to wear ready made clothes. So from a young age,I used to buy materials and go to the tailor and design my clothes for them to make for me. Then I involved my friends, I made them my models and i started to make clothes for them and take photos. My first biggest show was at Diamond Jubilee, that’s where the public knew me as a designer. in 1998, I dressed Basilla Mwanukuzi who became Miss Tanzania beaity pageant.

grow your brand? Yes, As I am celebrating 25 years, I am so grateful for the people who helped me to achieve my dreams.
