B&B TRACTORS VADERSTAD
Vaderstad Swift 560
The Vaderstad Swift 560 is a trailed tine cultivator designed to work at a high level even in wet and dry years. Looking after the ground is key to high yields and the Swift allows you to cultivate small or large quantities of crop residues resulting in intensive mixing and even working results. With a working depth of up to 20cm, intensive mixing is guaranteed.
Multiple operations in one pass
The Vaderstad Swift can also have the small mounted seeder BioDrill 360 fitted, allowing for small-seeded crops to be drilled during cultivations. The main advantage of this is reduced operating costs and time saved during busy periods on the farm.
Technical data
With a working width of 5.6m, the Vaderstad Swift 560 has an impressive transport width of 3m and a height of 3.6m. A minimum weight of 3500kg and a maximum weight of 4000kg allows the Swift to run on a tractor with a draught requirement of 170hp.
Durability and quality
To ensure the most durable, well built machinery, Vaderstad put their products under tough testing in two phases before passing a design. Firstly, industrial testing, followed by ‘punishment in the quarry’ where machinery is put to test in the toughest, stoniest conditions. Once Vaderstad believe their products are to the highest standard possible, they offer a two year warranty to all customers to guarantee the job wil be done, season after season, year after year.

Poduct concept
Vaderstad allow you to personalise your Swift to suit your farms ground conditions. With different intense mixing and finish options available, all ground conditions can be cultivated to the same high standard.
Intense mixing options
With a narrow tine spacing of 19.3cm and 29 tines in total, all areas of the ground are worked evenly. The constantly vibrating tines increase cultivation intensity, which helps lower the draught requirement and allow plenty of room for the soil to be cultivated and pass through. The constant vibrations also result in less wear on the points, lowering operating costs.

Levelling
The Swift has unique star-shaped levellers. These maintenance free levellers are made from specially hardened V-55 steel, allowing them to withstand the toughest ground conditions. The operator can adjust the levellers hydraulically from the tractor cab.

All Vaderstad Swifts can be fitted with a finish option to further improve the end working result.
The three available options are:

There is also an option to add a connecting drawbar which would add the possibility to attach another implement for increased reconsolidation, levelling and clod crushing.

New engine
The new 7.5 litre Power engine was built especially for the Fendt Vario 700 Gen 7. The engine speed is only 1,700 rpm, allowing a continuously low fuel consumption with the highest torque.
Intelligent VarioDrive
Fendt VarioDrive strands for stepless, dynamic driving no matter the speed. With the pull-in turn effect of the VarioDrive enabling the driver to turn in the tightest possible turning circle.
Maximum ground protection
With new tyre dimensions, the diameter of the rear tyres is 2.05m and 1.60m at the front, increasing surface area. With the integrated VarioGrip tyre pressure control system you can save up to 8% of diesel by easily adjusting the tyre pressure via the terminal. All of this reduces soil compaction allowing for better growing conditions.
New generation front loader
Along with a new tractor comes a new generation loader. With an impressive maximum lifting capacity of 4,070kg and a lifting height of 4.85m the Fendt Cargo 6.100 is ideal for your new Fendt 700 Vario Gen 7. It comes with it’s own valve block and separate front loader valves, as well as a new multi-coupler and working lights on the loader frame.

The onboard FendtONE drivers workstation makes your work in the field even more effective, with upto three display options;

Extensive automation of processes allows for easy use and control.
Offboard
With FendtONE offboard you can control and add existing applications to the tractor from the office. Recieve live task reports straight from the field as well as telemetry information about the machines. Track guidance allows you to manage fields and their boundaries and keep these consistant across the fleet. Monitor where machines are in the field and recieve live data.
Cab comfort
The new Fendt premium drivers seat comes with multi-stage seat heating and a massage function to ensure maximum comfort. All sections of the seat can be adjusted electrically, including the backrest, side bolsters and lumbar support. For ease, each individual driver settings are locked in the user profiles.
Tell me a bit about yourself?
I’ve been farming since I left school, but my family bought this farm in 1908 and its been passed through the generations since then. Over the years we’ve had 18 Massey Ferguson tractors and never really had any problems with them. We mainy farm dairy, which we’re reducing numbers in at the moment as I’m on my own, but we do have some arable land as well. We have about 155 acres in total, the majority of that is used for grazing, but we do have about 35 acres of cereals as well.
What are your thoughts on the Fendt 211?
I love it! With having two bad hips I was wanting something a bit more comfortable to drive and the Fendt 211 is definetly that. It’s a very smooth ride whatever it’s doing! I was slightly sceptical about a compact three cylinder tractor and whether it would be powerful enough for the jobs I needed it to do, but it’s proven me wrong. Somebody once told me you need to be a brain surgeon to drive modern tractors, but it’s so simple, there’s no gearbox so there’s no need to worry about what gear to go in. Its a very stable tractor compared to others of its size. Its very easy to hook equipment up to, and once they’re on its simple to use as well! Size wise, it can do anything I want it to anywhere on the farm.
What do you use it for?
Everything! Its ended up replacing three tractors! Not intentionally, but this is the only tractor with front suspension so we don’t really want to go back to use the others now.
FENDT COMPACT 211
What’s one of your favourite features of the Fendt 211?
Definitely the cruise control, that’s something I’ve never had on a tractor before and it makes life so much easier. Driving on the road is so comfortable as you dont have to wedge your foot down!
When you were looking to buy a new tractor, did you consider any other brand?
As soon as we’d tried the Fendt we didn’t even bother trying any others! This one was in the yard at B&B and after driving around the yard in it a couple of times we decided we’d have it. After a few days it was then sat in our yard ready to use.
What
tractors do you currently have in your fleet?
We’ve currently got a 350, 362, 390, all classic Massey Fergusons, and a modern MF 5613, as well as a John Deere 5100r. We kept all of these when buying the new Fendt as we didn’t know which tractor it was going to replace, but we’ve now realised it’s essentially replaced all three of the older Massey Fergusons.
How long have you been working with B&B?
We’ve been working with B&B Tractors ever since they’ve had their depot at Dodworth, I think we bought our first piece of kit from them in 1996.

B&B TRACTORS KUHN MEGANT
Get the best work output
With a simple design, the Megant seed drill is considerably lighter than other combinations on the market. The light weight design allows for an increased working speed and means that tractors of only 150hp are able to operate it. The 1,800 litre hopper can hold large amounts of seed, allowing for longer in the field, meaning less down time.
Blocking is minimised
With the Kuhn mounted Megant tine, seed drill blocking is minimised, even in high plant residues. Four rows of tines were designed and, added to the drill to allow residues to pass through with very few componnts restricting the flow. The operator can easily adjust the seeding depth by moving the pins in the multiple holed plate.
Easier seeding
Rear folding side markers make seeding around field borders and obstacles easier. As well as side markers to mark the soil, the 41cm discs mark the soil and make driving easier. The four extra large wheels ensure that the weight is evenly distributed and provides a great load bearing capacity.
Other options to choose from
To ensure the machine is suited to your farm there are other optional extras to choose from, including a front leveling bar to ensure constant seeding depth. Twin wheels are available to be fitted centrally or over the full width for light soils, with straight seeding tines an option for stoney soils.

Simplicity and precision
Mounted on an exclusively designed beam with Polyurethane blocks, the seeding tines on the Kuhn Megant range create a great quality output. To ensure a regular seed depth the tines are specially profiled to provide good soil penetration and stability. A vertical travel range of 15cm allows this seed drill to avoid large obstacles and, as it is not affected by the tine vibrations, it also ensure regular seed flow. The design of these seeding tines enable the operator to work quickly, clearing seed rows along the way, with excellent soil penetration. The low maintenance requirements allow the operator to drill ploughed or min-tilled land while reducing fuel and power requirements.
Easy access
To make the Megant easy to clean and access, the distribution head and tubes are on the outside of the hopper. A foldable frame design ensures easy access to the metering unit and to adjust or empty residule seeds. This makes changing seed varieties simple.

Performance

Tell me a bit about yourself?
I’m Richard Marcus John Hodson, of RMJ Plant Hire. I first got into plant in 1989 and I have now been running RMJ Plant Hire for over 30 years! I started off with just one machine, but as the business quickly grew, I chose to expand. I now have numerous machines varying in size.
How did you get into plant work?
I first started off working self-emplyed onsite as RMJ, and did my own private jobs at weekends. In the evenings I would do some tractor driving until the early hours of the morning until RMJ took off, and that’s how I got started.
Is there a specific way you choose to start your day?
No definitely not. With over 30 employees you just come into the office ready to fight fires and get on with the day no matter what.

We have been working with B&B since August 2021 and we have been very happy ever since. B&B is a very good company and if we ever have any issues they’re soon resolved to the highest standard. I can’t knock Karl our sales rep! He’s always at the other end of the phone if we need anything and always provides excellent customer service.
What’s
your biggest daily challange?
Men and drivers. Running your own business is always hard as everyone comes to you. Just keeping things going on a daily basis and making sure that all the lads contact me if and when they need anything.
What are your thoughts on the Sany brand?
Brilliant! Very impressed with everything. The machines are strong, well built and reliable. And from the operators perspective they’re comfy and easy to use and manouver. The 5 year warranty is a bonus and shows that Sany believe in their machines.
MEET MARK HULETT
In this issue of The Windmill, we sit down with B&B Tractors Group Service Manager Mark Hulett and get to know him.
How do you prefer to start your day?
Coffee! Then I’ll see my kids before they go to school. Then comsume more coffee and then go straight into the thick of it, I don’t like being bored and theres always something to do here.
What are your hobbies?
I do a lot of field shooting and a bit of fishing. I also bought a very old house about 10 years ago now and I’ve been renovating that from the ground up, so that’s been taking up a lot of time.
How did you get into this job role?
I got a degree in Automotive engeneering at university, but then decided I wanted to be a teacher instead, so started doing a Full tech certificate, but that didn’t go to plan. I then got into the forklift industry, starting as an engineer. After doing that for seven or eight years I then started working for a regional engineering manufacturer called Linde. In the 12 years I was at Linde I progressed from being an engineer to being a service manager after they invested heavily in my progression. Altogether, I have been in the engineering industry for 28 years now so I’d say I know the industry quite well.
MARK HULETT
Do you come from an agricultural background?
I’ve always grown up around farms and when I was in college I worked on a local farm during harvest. I did some tractor driving and the odd bit of engineering when anything went wrong. I’d say I have an understanding of the agricultural industry, but definitely more of an understanding of engeneering in general.
What is your greatest achievement?
I would definitely say my wife and my kids are my greatest achievement.
What is your favourite meal and why?
A proper Italian Carbonara! I have Italian ancestry so I suppose thats why I like Italian food. I’m actually going to Rome next month for my birthday!
If you could be in any movie, what would it be? And what character would you play?
I would be Neo from the Matrix because he believes that he is in charge of his own destiny.
