Two roads diverged in a yellow wood.

And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, just as fair.

And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if i I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

We, the class of 1979, dedicate this yearbook to such a man.

This man welcomed us into the Upper School with a warm smile and a friendly hello. His friendliness has continued through the years, and he has consistently acknowledge the fact that we are people, as well as students.

It is with love, respect, and gratitude that we dedicate this yearbook to a man who has been our friend, as well as our teacher. We'll miss you .. .

Class History 1975-1976 Freshman Year The Fall Production in our freshman year was “Chamber Music." Our workshop play was called “To n Bobolink With Love." Cliff Reiss had a major part in the Spring Production entitled the "Boyfriend.

1976-1977 Sophomore Year In the fall of our sophomore year, Bancroft had a winning soccer team. On Halloween the seniors held "Ghost Court" where the students and teachers were brought forward and accused of strange crimes. The punishments were equally as strange. The Fall Production was "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds." Julia Goldrosen and Bonnie Robertson were the sophomore members of the cast.

Our class had the winning workshop play this year. The play was the "Sandbox" and Julia Goldrosen, Sue Hall, Billy Dinan, Matt Fargo, and Cliff Reiss starred.

The unforgetable performance of "Guys and Dolls" highlighted the spring of our sophomore year.

Several members of our class were in the cast: Cliff Reiss, Julia Goldrosen, James Lee, Debbie Sharfman, Cal Wesby, Phoebe Barnard, Jonathan Cagan, Billy Dinan, Sue Hall, and Jaime Lee (girl!).

Other memorable performers were Mr. Mottram as Nicely-Nicely and Mr. Crone as Benny Southstreet.

Who ever thought that our teachers were so talented II The final dance of the year was the "May Fly" which was somewhat similar to the "June Bug." The music was played by a Dixie Land band.

Also during our sophomore year, Bonnie Robertson and Matt Fargo spent several weeks in casts (plaster, not drama!).

Finally, everyone will remember our sophomore year as the year of the "Moose Club"!!

Senior Year

The Fall Production during our junior year was "Anne Frank." Julia Goldrosen and Cliff Reiss were among the cast members. Our Workshop Play was "The Leader." Julia Goldrosen and Cliff Reiss had major roles.

Mary Coz, Billy Dinan, Cliff Reiss, Ian MacRae, Jack Karaguesian, and Sue Hall played roles on stage. Off stage, the crowd was led by Bonnie Robertson and Amy Oakes. Julia Goldrosen directed the play and Jennie King and Rick Seymour were the stage managers. "The Leader" won the prize for the best play.

The Spring Production was "Li'l Abner.

Cliff Reiss, Julia Goldrosen, Amy Oakes, Cal Wesby, Billy Dinan, Jonathan Cagan, Karen Pemstein, Bonnie Robertson and James Lee were all part of the cast.

Also in the spring of our junior year we suffered through SAT's, Achievenent Tests, and the eternal search for the "perfect" college. ff

While we all anxiously waited to hear from colleges we had many diversions. "The Skin of Our Teeth", starring Julia Goldrosen, Cliff Reiss, and David Matson, was the Fall Production. About a week after Halloween, the Death Squad was formed to put the Administration in its place (namely to keep them from using their squad of Super Heroes to put the students in their place). n Our Workshop Play was "The Lesson.

Cliff Reiss, Julia Goldrosen, and Mary Coz starred. Cliff put his memory to work as he recited his lines for about twenty minutes of the thirty minute play. Meanwhile, Julia showed us her dramatic ability as she writhed in pain from a toothache. Our play was awarded prizes for the best costumes (Robin Rowse), the best scenery (Steve Jerome), and the best supporting actress (Julia Goldrosen). ti Once Upon A Mattress", the true story of the Princess and the Pea, was the Spring Production. The movie version of this muscial starred Carol Burnett.

Many people at school had the chicken pox this year, including a few seniors. Even a couple of the teachers caught them. The Athletics Department began teaching CPR in gym (Mr. and Mrs. Samborski were the instructors). Many students were certified as Heart Savers. The Death Squad reappeared on Valentines Day to inform us that the Administration does not run the school, the teachers do not run the school, the students and their parents (who pay the tuition) do not run it, and even the trustees do not run it (they only come to monthly meetings and have coffee and donuts!). The Death Squad came to the conclusion that they run the school. Also on Valentines Day, Karen Pemstein and Mary Coz (the heads of the Social Committe) announced the names of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine and the Angel and Devil of the senior class, Mr. Valentine was Mr. Cole, who received a pair of red suspenders. Mrs. Stansfield was Mrs. Valentine and she received a red sling to support her wrist, which she had broken a week earlier. After her sling was put on, Mrs. Valentine was surprised by a big kiss from Mr. Valentine. The Angel of our class was Rick Seymour and the Devil was Craig Kerr.
