The time we all became altruistic and knitted for the Red Cross, much to the delight of Joanne Vamvas . . . Ros' pledge to Miss Smith to eat more breakfast, maybe . . . LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT-CLASS OF'45 We, the departing members of a unique and brilliant class, being in a sufficiently sane state of mind, do hereby relinquish the following possessions which we hold dear, in the hope that they will be treated with reverence by our successors.

Phyllis Andreson leaves lingering memories of Mr. Tiffany with Phyllis Goddard.

Bliss leaves her ignorance (well hidden from the faculty).

Carey leaves a "stationary" wagon in front of the tennis court completely equipped with shades and fire extinguisher.

Sis Coe leaves her attempts at reforming the school with, "How raucous" and "How rude", to Rosemary Marble with hopes that she meets with more success.

Coulthard leaves a temperamental alarm clock to Wheatie.

Joan Hoagland leaves a few slip covers in the library a little dirtier than they were before her arrival.

Betty Johnson, or Nosnhoj, donates a slightly dilapidated blue polka dot garment to be used as curtains for the senior room.

Jane Kervick leaves her surplus of men to whoever wants them— don't shove, Phyllis, there's plenty for all!

Frannie Lucas leaves her many proposals to the Junior class, for a little while, but she'll be back for them later.

Anita Manzer leaves all the trees on Sever Street that she neglected to hit with her powerful motor vehicle.

Trixie leaves her "bobby socks" to the Freshmen.

Jane Pomeroy leaves her 6,542,799 baskets made this year to be divided equally among the rest of the school.

Roz leaves a copy of The American Male to whoever's first on the waiting list.

Phoebe leaves her choice selection of jokes to future generations at Bancroft.

Marilyn Talman leaves a dozen eggs to be colored and stored for next Easter.

Joanne Vamvas offers a broken knitting needle to whoever gets the point.

To Mrs. Peckham we return a few scratched tables and hard green chairs with hopes that the following classes will find them more comfortable than we did.

Oh! How we miss our Maudie, So lovely, long, and lean; But she became a nun last year— Then there were sixteen.

Betty had for the ocean blue An admiration keen, So she joined the Navy to see the world— Then there were fifteen.

Hoagland went to sing one day (Well, you know what I mean!)

But she wore out her spark plugs— Then there were fourteen.

Lucas jilted Leo Who leaped in a ravine, And she eloped with Dunninger— Then there were thirteen.

Into journalism, Coe-coe thought she'd delve; Soon she was Pegler's right-hand man— Then there were but twelve.

Johnson went to the hospital At the age of twenty-seven (Her voice cracked once too often)— Then there were eleven.

Pomeroy, our athlete, For swimming had a yen; She tried to swim across Cape Cod— Then there were but ten.

Kervick would, with college work, Her pleasure trips combine; She finally hopped a 'Frisco train— Then there were but nine.

Blissy used to be a gal Who knew the ways of jive, But she threw out her hip too far— Then there were but five.

But she soon married an engineer— Then there were but four.

Anita wanted a Cadillac, But bought a Model "T", But she was a woman driver— Then there were but three.

Phyllis used to walk a bit, And did some driving, too, But she got pinched for speeding— Then there were but two.

Vamvas liked to singe her lashes, Thought it was quite fun, Until one day she singed herself— Then there was but one.

Cyn enjoyed her food too much, And soon she weighed a ton; She dieted herself to death— And then there were none!

A MOST SENSATIONAL CLASS This June, the Eighth Grade will bound out of the school—some of us never to return again as students. With no regrets or hard feelings towards our teachers we plunge on to high school where we shall meet even greater obstacles. We look back on a combination of hard work and much play. Those memorable afternoons spent with Mr. Russell doing tough algebra problems, Miss Jones and her volumes and surfaces of prisms, Mrs. Wassell and our infinite book reports that must be done in ink and by such and such a date, and Mr. Williams and his questions about the case of the subject of an indirect statement—those were the things for which we went to school.

One thing we took great delight in discussing was the famous graduation garb pow-wow with Miss Jones. The original conversation ran about like this: Miss Jones: "You don't think the girls should have lipstick, flowers and jewelry, do you?"

Grade Eight: "No, Miss Jones."

Miss Jones: "Don't you think the girls should wear silk stockings and the boys should wear white ducks and dark blue coats?"

Grade Eight: "Yes, Miss Jones; of course, Miss Jones."

We also remember the running battles with Miss Leslie as we tried to sneak into our room to do our French. The year was full of thrilling sports events with other schools, which we always won.

Parties, of course, were generously scattered throughout the year with many a riotous ending. Most of us remember vividly the figure of Tom Dewey as he stood nobly facing the chlering crowd at the station last fall; then by contrast we remember the solemn assembly for our dead President. Events big and small filled our days.

Characters were things we had plenty of in our class. There were innocent-looking Joe who matched wits many a time with Mr. Russell; the irrepressible Bev, whose goggles were her pride and joy; our crooning blonde rabbit fancier; Sally, our smiling tease; Sherburne, the quiet fun-lover; and a dozen other distinctive personalities.

The year has been an enjoyable one for us and a hectic one for our teachers. We all succeeded in passing, and now the eighth grade is a memory.
