Autumn Term
AN EXCITING TERM AHEAD
I am delighted to present the first brochure of our concerts for the autumn term 2024/25.
This is my eighth year as Director of Music, and despite the interruptions and bubbles in 2020/21, music has returned stronger than ever. I hope to meet many parents of performers in the coming months and that all Bancroft's pupils will be enriched by the wide variety of co-curricular music activities we have on offer.

AWARD HOLDERS CONCERTS
Wednesday 2nd October | 6.30pm | Great Hall
Performances by Removes, Lower 4th, and Upper 4th pupils.
The first concert of the year is always greatly anticipated. It will feature a recital by our auditioned Music Award holders, performing on a range of instruments, and will include the new Removes cohort.

Wednesday 9th October | 6.30pm | Great Hall
Performances by 5ths, Lower 6th and Upper 6th students.
This recital will be performed by our senior students, and for some, it will be their final concert of this kind. These students are prolific in our co-curricular programme but this concert offers them the opportunity to show off their talents as accomplished soloists.

AN EVENING OF CHORAL MUSIC
Saturday 30th November | 6.30pm | Great Hall
Choral music performed by the school choirs, featuring Gloria by Vivaldi, accompanied by Sinfonia.
Bancroft’s Singers, 3rds Choir, Girls’ Voices, Boys’ Voices, Senior Girls’ Voices, Senior Boys’ Voices, Bancroft’s Barbers, and a community choir with parents, staff, and friends of the school.
After the success of our performances of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins in 2019 and Requiem by Fauré in 2022, we turn now to Vivaldi for our choral offering. The Gloria is one of his most iconic works and a masterpiece of the Baroque canon.

CAROL SERVICES
Sunday 8th December | 4pm and 6pm | School Chapel
Lessons and Carols led by Bancroft’s Singers with 3rds Choir at 4pm and Senior Girls’ Voices at 6pm.
After our move to the school chapel in 2023, we return here to the ambience of candles, readings, and beautiful Christmas music to mark the start of the festive season at Bancroft’s.

RUSH HOUR CONCERTS
Tuesday 15th October and Monday 25th November | 4.15pm | The Stave
An opportunity for any musician to perform wherever they are in their musical journey, in an informal setting. Parents of these students are invited to attend.
New for this year! - Pop-up Thursdays – look out for ad hoc performances by our Rock Bands, Chamber Ensembles, and Drummers.
They could pop up anywhere!
COMMUNITY CHOIR
All rehearsals are in The Stave in the Bancroft’s music department starting at 6.30pm and ending at 8pm.
If you have ever thought you would like to have a go at singing but your efforts are limited to the shower then please come along and give it a try.
We will be rehearsing on the dates below for the Vivaldi Gloria, just drop me an email jxw@bancrofts.org stating if you are a Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass, however it doesn’t matter if you are not sure!
