—Dear Reader, in Club Prestige Magazine we believe that it is very important to adapt to upcoming changes. This is why we have asked ourselves a simple question: How can a print magazine adapt in the digital world? This new reality invites magazines such as ours to create more dynamic, interactive content that is easy to consume wherever we are. This is why we have decided to go digital only, and therefore this is the last issue we will publish on paper.

However, we will continue to offer lifestyle, gastronomic and wellness content related to Spanish culture, along with financial advice on the many concerns you might have. Apart from being more ecofriendly, this change will also give us the opportunity to communicate more closely with you, our readers, giving you up-to-date information that is easily shareable. We hope we continue to inspire your confidence in this new phase of Club Prestige Magazine. Our goal, as it has always been, is that you make the most of your time in Spain.

– With a moniker such as his, Manolo Blahnik was never going to be a bank manager, a teacher or an accountant. No: he was destined to make shoes. His name sounds like an exotic dish featuring truffles, its cadence pleasing to enunciate. Where are your shoes from? ‘Manolo Blahnik.’ Although, in truth, the ‘Blahnik’ was dropped years ago, its owner belonging to that elite coterie of designers so famous that no surname is required. Blogs, songs and Facebook pages have been devoted to ‘My Manolos’, while in Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw pleaded with a New York mugger, ‘You can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and my watch, but please don’t take my Manolo Blahniks.’

Born in 1942 and raised in Santa Cruz de la Palma in the Canary Islands, his Spanish mother’s family owned a banana plantation, while his Czech father’s family owned a pharmaceutical company in Prague. He was home-schooled before attending university in Geneva, after which he enrolled at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris. He arrived in London in 1968, prompting a love affair with England that still endures (he lives in Bath). It was Diana Vreeland, theneditor of US Vogue, who encouraged him to start making shoes after seeing one of his sketches; by 1972, he was collaborating with Ossie Clark.

Blogs, Lieder und Facebook-Seiten wurden für „meine Manolos“ verfasst, und in Sex and the City bettelt Carrie Bradshaw einen New Yorker Straßenräuber an: „Du kannst meine Fendi-Baguette, meinen Ring und meine Uhr haben, aber bitte lass mir meine Manolo Blahniks.“ Er wurde 1942 geboren und wuchs in Santa Cruz de la Palma auf den Kanaren auf. Die Familie seiner spanischen Mutter besaß eine Bananenplantage, die Familie seines tschechischen Vaters eine Arzneimittelfirma in Prag. Er wurde zuhause unterrichtet und ging dann zur Universität in Genf und danach zur Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris. 1968 kam er nach London, seine Liebe zu England hält bis heute an (er lebt in Bath). In fact, Bimba y Lola is linked to one of Spain’s most successful fashion companies. Adolfo Dominguez SA is, after Inditex, the second most important Galician textile brand in the country, with 182 million euros in sales. This explains how, in the last ten years, Bimba y Lola has come from nowhere to be the 10th most important fashion brand in Spain. Now in a phase of internationalisation, it currently has 209 points of sale in 17 countries.

Many chefs consider eggs as a basic ingredient of their recipes. Poached, fried, as an omelette or in cream, they have inspired restaurants all around the country. We have selected some of them.

—Tasty, easy to cook and very versatile, eggs are one of the main ingredients in Spanish gastronomy.

Eaten fried, boiled or cooked at low temperature, the secret of amazing eggs lies in its technique and cooking temperature, as well as their farm origin. We take a look to both familyrun and sophisticated restaurants that are devoted to this ingredient.

FREE-RANGE PRODUCTS In Madrid, the origin of eggs is very important. Casa Lucio (Cava Baja 30; Casalucio.es) has been preparing fried eggs since 1974. Served on a bed

of chips and ham, they come from chickens that are raised outdoors.

Also in the capital, El Almendro (Almendro 13) prepares scrambled specialities with free-range eggs.

Ingredients: • 1kg potatoes • 3 eggs • 1 onion • Bunch of fresh dill • Salt and pepper Dressing: • 1 lemon juice • 1/2 dl olive oil • 1 teaspoon of mustard • 2-3 teaspoons of mayonnaise • Salt and pepper

Zutaten • 1kg Kartoffeln • 3 Eier • 1 Zwiebel • 1 Bund frischer Dill • Salz und Pfeffer Salatsosse: • Saft einer Zitrone • 1/2 dl Olivenöl • 1 TL Senf • 2-3 TL Mayonaise • Salz und Pfeffer

Preparation: Zubereitung: • Wash the potatoes with skin and place • Die Kartoffeln mit Schale waschen und in them in a saucepan. Cook the potatoes einem Topf mit 1 EL Salz 20 Minuten kochen. with 1 tablespoon of salt for 20 minutes.

AN EXCESSIVE USE OF DEVICES CAN CAUSE MUSCLE DISEASES AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS

(Un)healthy technology Fatigue, headaches, irritability or dry eyes are some of the effects of the new pathologies caused by electronic devices. We talk with some experts to discover what we can do to combat these symptoms.

— We all like new technologies.

They allow us to communicate faster, be more flexible and keep up with everything around us. But an excessive use of technological devices can also entail muscle diseases, chronic bad postures and psychological problems. To reduce their impact, we must control our dependence on them and see a specialist when needed.

INVISIBLE FACTORS The proliferation of waves in the atmosphere, especially due to the use of mobile phones, Bluetooth and computers, causes what is known as electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

“The so-called ‘wifi allergy’ is an intolerance to electromagnetic radiation” explains Joaquim Fernández Solà, Chronic Fatigue Unity coordinator in Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. “This situation may involve symptoms such as eye irritation, dizziness, red face, itching, nausea or headaches.” And the company Geosanix, which offers 18

professional consulting services on geo-environmental health, also claims that we are exposed to many invisible pollution factors. “Among preventive measures, there are meters to measure pollution levels and treatments to reduce heavy metals in the blood”, explains the director, José Miguel Rodríguez.

MOBILE LIFESTYLE Also, spending many hours a day in front of the computer can lead to various muscle aches and headaches. “Sitting is the new disease of our technologically dependent society,” says Tommy Cederholm, Professor of Clinical Nutrition and senior consultant at the University Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden. “It’s very important to have a mobile lifestyle, based on walking at least 150. .minutes . Babies’ cuteness is designed to appeal to all our senses

Beneficial effects of regular exercise change with age

Air pollution affects people’s psychological health

As we grow older, benefits from exercise diminish. This is the conclusion from new research led by Tinna Traustadottir from Northern Arizona University.

It proves that younger adults experience greater antioxidant benefits from one exercise session compared to older people. The test included physical results from a group of millennials compared with a group of 55-year-old men.

After cycling for 30-minutes, blood samples were tested measuring antioxidant response. The results imply that age plays a significant role in a cell’s ability to respond to exercise. The research aims to identify molecular processes that are responsible for cellular changes.

Researchers from Ümea University have studied the impact of pollution concentration on the Swedish population, especially in young adults that are undergoing psychological treatments. The study found that teenagers from different areas around the country were more likely to be diagnosed with psychological disorders if they lived in highly populated areas. In fact, more and more studies now show how cognitive development is affected by the environment.

It is not just an impression. A new study from the University of Oxford found that babies’ attributes cause both positive physical and psychological reactions in adults. From a cute smile to soft skin or a nice smell, it seems that we cannot escape from focusing our attention on babies. Spain in the first country in the world were making your will can be free. This is one of the successes of Testamenta, an innovative start-up awarded with the BStartup 10 program that produces a will in 24h in accordance with current Spanish laws.

— Testamenta is the first website in Spain that offers the possibility to process wills online. They have invented a quick and practical service that is accessible 24 hours a day by phone, mail or Whatsapp. It includes an online questionnaire, an online conversation with a specialised lawyer and a physical appointment with a public notary. “The idea came from a real case”, explains Carles Argemí, CEO & Sales Marketing Manager of Testamenta. “We are three friends from school, and we were talking about a colleague who died and all the legal problems his boyfriend had because they were not married”. Only three years after this conversation, Carles, Jaume and Marc achieved three important goals: the website facilitates the

online testament process, they have reached agreements with 28 insurance companies and they offer the possibility to write a solidary will.

“If you make a minimum donation of 500 euros in your testament, to any of the 17 NGOs we have agreements with, you don’t have to pay for the will at all”, explains Argemí.

Moreover, they also invented the free testament, as the insurance companies include the online testament service for free for their customers. This also gives them a distinctive value compared to other insurance companies.

High-performance program for start-ups “Joining BStartup 10 has helped us correct some problems we had at the beginning”, explains Carles Argemí, CEO & Sales Marketing Manager of Testamenta. “Also, having them as a partner has helped us a lot with our clients, as we are mostly focused on insurance companies and banking entities”.

Testamenta was selected in the second edition of BStartup 10, an initiative that every year gives support to 10 technology start-ups selected across Spain to establish themselves in the market and grow. It was selected among more than 356 start-ups due to the viability, innovation and growth potential of the company, and the investment committee was composed of three senior bank executives and two outside experts. Josep Oliu, Chairman of Banco Sabadell, opens the bank’s new offices in Mexico Josep Oliu has formally inaugurated the bank’s operations as a financial institution in Mexico, with several opening ceremonies in Mexico City and Monterrey. Banking activities started on January 4th, after 25 years of being present in the country though its representative office and SOFOM Sabadell Capital.

Mexico is a key market for Banco Sabadell within the consolidation process of its project in America.

Some 300 guests attended the opening ceremony in Mexico City.

Guests included representatives of the business, economic, political and Mexican social sectors. Jaime Guardiola, Managing Director of the bank, accompanied Chairman Josep Oliu, who affirmed that “the new Banco Sabadell in Mexico will work to provide its Mexican customers with its experience and excellent personalised, friendly and quality service, with digital services and a wide portfolio of products designed to fulfil the needs of Mexican companies”.

Banco Sabadell has six business centres in Mexico: three in Mexico City; one in Monterrey, one in Guadalajara and the last one in Cancun. In just 5 months, Banco Sabadell has captured more than 40 Corporate Banking customers and has granted more than 1,200 million Mexican pesos in loans (73 million U.S. dollars) and 21,250 million Mexican pesos (1,288 million in U.S. dollars) in Corporate Banking.

BANCO SABADELL IN THE AMERICAS The representative office network in the Americas (New York, Caracas, Bogota, Sao Paulo, Santo Domingo and Lima) are coordinated from Banco Sabadell’s branch in Miami.

I was born in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia.

At 15, I came to Spain with my family.

I met my best friends here, and the man who is now my husband.

–I studied translation and interpretation at Alicante University and I can speak Spanish, Serbo-Croatian, English, Russian and a little Catalan. I started working in CAM international branch in 2001 and since then I have specialised in Solbank, first as commercial manager and then as assistant manager and representative. At the moment I work as commercial representative for the east territory foreign sector.

I have been living in Spain for 24 years now. I came here with my family; we loved it and decided to stay (also due to the political situation in the former Yugoslavia). I quickly fell in love with the Mediterranean character, the climate and the beaches.

What I like the most about working in Solbank is the contact with people from different countries. It’s like travelling every day. I like speaking several languages, even those that I don’t know, developing communication skills and empathizing with people from different nationalities. When dealing with clients, I like to understand their situation and give them professional and quality service. My most frequent requests include account opening, advice for home purchase, mortgages and investments.

I have always worked with professional peers from different nationalities. I currently work with Maria Jesús Sánchez, who speaks English and Italian. We spend a lot of time with other coworkers, so we’re like a family.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my husband and two children in the countryside or at the beach, swimming and cycling with them. On holidays we like to travel abroad, so that the kids can experience different VIEW CONTENT countries and cultures.

— The creative couple formed by an actor and a creative entrepreneur recently decided to live in Spain, getting out of the hectic celebrity life of Los Angeles and Hollywood for a while.

We talk to them to discover what they like the most about the country.

Why did you decide to live Spain?

SVEN-OLE: I felt in love with Spanish people and culture while filming Conan the Barbarian and I also became very fond of the siesta.

BIRGITTA: I have travelled all over Spain many times. We both love the weather, the people, the family closeness, the mountains, the beaches, the sea and the stunning natural scenery.

Has the country changed a lot from the first time you came here?

S-O: Although Spain has become more modern and wealthier, Spaniards themselves have stayed close to their roots and traditions.

I really like that.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

B: Apart from working hard on finishing both Sven-Ole’s autobio Strong Man in Hollywood - The Epilogue and my cook book Pheasant Food Fit for Kings and Queens, we are busy writing new film scripts.

You actually work on many things at a time...

B: Yes, we have three film production companies and we are working on seven film projects right now. We also run a talent management company for musicians and actors.

Warum haben Sie beschlossen, in Spanien zu leben?

SVEN-OLE: Ich habe mich in die Spanier und ihre Kultur verliebt, während des Drehs von Conan der Barbar. und ich habe mich sehr an die Siesta gewöhnt.
