REVVED UP HOT OIL
Natural hair or not most can attest to the wonders that a good hot oil treatment can do for the hair Here we will talk about ways to rev your home hot oil treatment up better even than a visit to the salon.
In times of dry, dull, crusty, and rough hair a super injection of moisture is needed Along with that moisture a sealant is needed Insert oils here Hair oil is a great way to impart shine, seal in moisture, provide lubricant before styling, and help strands become more manageable But did you ever think your oils could also provide a nutrient boost to your strands as well? Here we are going to show you how to rev up your home hot oil treatments by fully opening the hair cuticle and jam packing your oil with added nutrients The idea here is to add more than just shine to the hair shaft We want to seal in shine, strength, and vitamins so we are going to customize our heating oil Consider what you want from your oil This will dictate how you customize your oil. Different herbs and oils provide different nutrients and effects. Take a look at our lists of oils and herbs to try for different effects.
Herbs Oils
• Bamboo Powder (growth)
• Horsetail (strength)
• Burdock (anti shedding)
• Rosemary (growth, stimul)
•Fenugreek (thickens)
• Amla (strengthen)
• Almond Oil (Vitamin B)
• Horsetail (strength)
• Carrot (keratin)
• Neem (seal, stimul)
• Jojoba Oil (strength, thickens)
There are many herbs and oils that will do great things for the hair Choose any combination of herbs and oils and turn the page for infusion instructions

DO YOU KNOW?
WHAT THE FLUKE IS INSIDE US?
Mood swings, bloating, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, sleep issues, increased appetite, rashes weight loss and stomach ulcers all sound like a bad case of a gastrointestinal disease right? Did you know that some of these gastrointestinal diseases could be evidence of another issue no less disturbing? These and a plethora of other symptoms could all be signs of parasitic infestation
The last few years have seen a dramatic plunge in quality control in the US over industries such as the grocery and fast food industries giving rise to contamination in food items Hepatitis on the frozen fruit meat found in vegan products worms in the fast food value meals and grocery store fish (gross) theres much for the masses to stay alert of Especially to be intentional about avoiding potential parasitic infestation as that can lead to other more complicated and even fatal diseases
By now you may have heard of parasites like tape worms or round worms but if you think it stops there you would be sadly mistaken Parasites by definition are living organisms that require a host for their life That includes ticks, fleas, and mosquitos They can live in (as endoparasitic) or on (as ectoparasitic) another species Some endoparasites are single cellular, like amoebas, and some are multicellular, like helminths/worms They come in many forms and many if left unchecked can cause other complications and fatalities Not only do they divert nutrients and energy away from their host to themselves they can also cause diseases like IBS gastritis and cancer They also cause deficiencies and can stunt growth in the host's body Some can even live for decades
It is estimated that 35 billion people globally are infected with parasites In the US parasitic infection is more common than most think Especially in the Black community and even more so in the rural south Parasites like Helicobacter Pylori H Pylori and Hookworm are reeking havoc and causing cancers ulcers and other fatal issues in poor black communities in Mississippi and Alabama due to deteriorating infastructure and improper sanitation Recent state lawsuits reveal this information is not unknown by the local governments
How parasites enter the body is varied but knowing this may help others guard against infection Some infect via injection as with malaria and mosquitos Some through undercooked food as in tapeworms Others burrow directly into the skin like Hookworms burrowing into the feet of poor black children Still others have an even more fascinating beginning Take the story of the Common Fluke Worm which can infect humans as well as livestock This parasite begins life as a "fungal" spore similar to that of mushrooms They infect humans that consume raw fish and shellfish or raw water vegetation that has the spores on it and continue their life cycle inside the host This particular parasites infestation in humans is elusive because symptoms at times do not show or are similar to other gastrointestinal illnesses Remarkably infestation can last up to 30 years which is how long the parasite can live Scary right?
We cant control how serious the FDA takes its quality control job nor will the infastructure change over night however there are things we can do individually to counter the threat of parasites and improve our overall health Educating ourselves is a great step in the right direction Knowing where danger lurks and learning how to avoid it makes for a greater opportunity to win the battle One way to avoid it is by keeping our bodies detoxed and flushed on the inside Herbal flushes are a great way to remove parasites that may exist There are many herbalists with recipes and products all over the web A little digging will go a long way here Cleaning up the diet is key to this success as well Eliminate the parasites food source and you become uninhabitable to the them Like their host the parasites use sugar for energy A quick source of sugar is processed foods and it is shown that parasites can and do cause their host to have intense cravings for certain sugary or processed foods Another not often discussed precaution in direct opposition to parasites is the ingestion of probiotics Both are living organisms that need a host to survive While parasites confer benefits away from their host probiotics are the opposite They confer benefits to their host Not only this but according to the NHM "probiotics can kill or inhibit pathogens by strain-specific mechanisms relying on competition, molecule secretion, and/or immune induction Most of the described interactions imply a prokaryotic pathogen that colonizes the same gut compartment Secretion of active molecules (eg bacteriocins antibiotics free fatty acids hydrogen peroxide) that can control growth and/or survival of surrounding microorganisms Bacteriocins are secreted peptides or proteins that generally kill closely related bacteria by permeabilizing their membranes or by interfering with essential enzymes " The site also discusses some sources of probiotics those being supplements and foods such as Indian yogurts kefir and lassi Sauerkraut Spanish olives ACV kombucha and kimchi are just a few other sources of probiotics If a supplement is preferred it has been suggested to take a dose of at least five billion colony forming units per day for at least 5 days
With knowledge and preparation we (the masses) can stay away from the dangers the failing agencies seem oblivious to and even uninterested in If health is wealth then what could be more valuable than the knowledge of how to heal and prevent illness in ourselves?

BPE: And what we need to know about it.
Written by Cece Hartwell
It's 2023 and never have I ever seen the likes of such quarreling as that which has taken place on these social media streets. Along with the allusion of another inevitable pandemic, a burgeoning avalanche of "Karenacity" and "Cau-casity", and the implementation of an all digital currency (and whether one is in favor or not) another topic, alarming yet benign, has seemed to put society in a proverbial chokehold: whether or not to use a wash cloth when bathing.
Social media has been credited for teaching a lot of unaware people, including myself, a lot of life hacks that were painfully obvious and life changing (like boiling broccoli florets on the stalk in pasta water and cutting them in bite sized pieces once cooled ) but has also singlehandedly revealed some of the embarssaing cultural underbelly in society today But I'm not here to judge or condemn by any means Whether you are team cloth or team bare hands makes no difference to me I'm team educate
The whole ordeal really got me thinking about and realizing how much the general population may need to be re-educated on basic product/equipment purposes and uses There's so much infatuation with the latest and greatest such as cryoballs and EGF creams that basic competencies seemed to have slipped through the cracks Its not just proper washing procedures on the line either It's improper product storage, its misunderstanding of certain product or ingredient functionality, and more so I want to help however I can to dispell what I can of the misinformation
BPE, body product education, is my endeavor to help fill in those cracks so none else slips through, starting with bar soap storage Soap dishes are used for this but just being a cute accessory on the sink is not enough It has to provide complete air flow to the top and bottom of the bar for proper drying between use This stops the bar from becoming "slimy" and prevents product waste ultimately saving money or at least giving you your money ' s worth out of the product
Next, the use of the wash cloth The argument is made that cloths and loofas hold bacteria and are thus more "dirty" to use than a bare hand (While again I'm not condemning, I am curious to know if these same people apply that argument to plates and bowls? If you wash dishes with a rag why not the body you know? The body is much more intricate than either of those) Anyhow, looking at both issues there is a pattern here What is it that will waste the soap product and will allow bacteria to grow on a towel or anywhere for that matter? EXCESS MOISTURE! So naturally if you eliminate the excess moisture you eliminate the bacteria But how do we do that with a wash cloth or loofa etc?
1) Do a final rinse of the cloth in very hot tap water Hot water evaporates more quickly than cool water causing it to become dry faster 2) Give the cloth a strong wring out at the end of the session Do this with all your strength Folding the cloth 2 or 3 times onto itself will also provide extra resistance for more water extraction 3)Do not leave the towel in the way to be re-wet after your bath 4) My favorite: CHANGE THE CLOTH OUT as often as needed If it starts to smell get a new one
This brings me to the point of BPE regarding creams and other products with a moisture (water) content I have seen people touting the use of Vitamin E, essential oils, salts, and other nonspectrum ingredients as a preservation method These are not sufficient methods to protect a product from fungal, bacterial, and microbial growth There is simply no way around it, if the product in question has a water/moisture content it NEEDS a full spectrum preservatives in the ingredients list as well I suggest as a consumer researching those you would be most comfortable with and those you want to avoid at all costs as some preservatives haveore questionable ingredients than others
Lastly, I see all the time advertisments, from " mom and pop " brands to some of the biggest commercial products claiming their " x, y, z oil" will hydrate and moisturize Again moisturization and moisture is a characteristic strictly of water The oils in actuality are a sealant to the present moisture content Without a water content the oil is doing nothing more than sealing in dryness A goal of BPE is educating what products and ingredients are actually capable of and matching consumer expectations to that
Hopefully this intro to BPE begins the process of dispelling misinformation and helps us all become wiser product consumers and users

"My uncomfortable situation recently dealt with was one where I had to address offense. It was especially difficult for me because it involved an elder of mine All I can say is that resolution is possible Difficult, yes, but possible and I think maintaining composure helps My emotions were high and tears flowed but I really had to try and keep my tone level and words straight to the point I think that overall helped resolution come forward Hurt from some offenses can run deep but attacking may not be the most helpful in high emotion situations I also think it helped using expressive phrases in place of accusations like "I did or am doing my best, I don't understand maybe you can help me further understand, or when you did [this thing] it made me feel [disrespected or unappreciated or taken advantage of etc]" A lot of situations can be uncomfortable especially when dealing with offense and conflicts but going at it head on with a mindset of resolution not confrontation, avoiding accusatory remarks, and using articulated expressive statements to inform and be informed, I believe, are what helped my situation to flow in the direction of healing and resolution And being ok with incomplete resolution, I think is working in my favor It's not a fully resolved situation for me but it's one where it's best handled in small doses In this case dealing with too much all at once can do more harm than good and I don't want more ill feelings between myself and the offending person
