The following Terms and Conditions for the Use of The Motorsport Report 2013 (‘Terms and Conditions’) govern the use of this report (The Motorsport Report). By downloading, copying, or using The Motorsport Report, you agree to these Terms and Conditions: 1. Speedcafe.com owns copyright in The Motorsport Report. 5. The Motorsport Report is based on data collected in the 2013 Speedcafe Motorsport Survey with the consent of participants. The report findings are based on the opinions of survey participants.

6. In consideration of the purchase fee paid by you and subject to these Terms and Conditions, Speedcafe.com grants you an exclusive, non-transferable licence for The Motorsport Report, and to use it for your personal use. The agreement is one to which you are a contracting party.

7. The Motorsport Report is licensed for your use only. You may not reproduce, transmit, sell, distribute, sub-license or otherwise make available copies of The Motorsport Report to any person. This Licence Agreement does not prevent you from making and providing copies of The Motorsport Report as are reasonably required for the purpose of your business, including to your financial, legal advisors and auditors, for the purposes of decision making.

In the event any provision of these Terms and Conditions are held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms remain enforceable and unaffected.

There were 6,010 unique respondents to the national internet survey

There were 6,010 unique respondents to the national internet survey. Respondents were given the option to skip some questions. The average response rate for the entire survey was 75 per cent, with some questions yielding a higher response rate than others.

The majority of respondents were Australian residents predominantly hailing from metropolitan NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Twenty per cent of respondents hailed from the remaining Australian states and territories. Almost ten per cent of respondents were from outside Australia, the bulk of who were from New Zealand.

Respondents mostly described themselves as huge motorsport fans with the remainder indicating at least some involvement in motorsport.

The next most popular category was Formula One with 16 per cent of respondents listing it as their favourite category. Eleven per cent of respondents listed ‘all motorsport’ as their favourite with the remaining preferences spread across Speedway, NASCAR, Rally, Sportscar Racing, Motorcycle Racing, Drag Racing, Karting, Off Road, Powerboats, Drifting and Remote Control.

The most popular sports were ranked in the following order; V8 Supercars, other motorsports, AFL, NRL, Cricket, Rugby Union, Tennis, Horse Racing and Netball.

Almost 90 per cent of respondents were male over the age of 36 and either married or in a de facto relationship. The primary occupations listed were self-employed or management with most respondents indicating approximate annual income levels of $100,000 or more.

More than 60 per cent of respondents own either a Ford or Holden vehicle with the next most popular make being Toyota. The most common vehicle size is either large family car or medium car.

The most popular category of motorsport was V8 Supercars with over fifty per cent indicating this as their favourite category. A staggering 86 per cent of respondents indicated they had been following V8 Supercars for 10 years or more.
