The year was 2010 when I was fortunate enough to get enrolled in an architecture course in India but felt my dreams really kicked off in 2017, the year I moved to Sweden for my Master’s degree. In the meantime, I picked up invaluable experience of 3 years from both places; themes evidently contrasting though they fit like mortise and tenon. This booklet of my selected works was compiled mid-August 2020 keeping in mind that comprehension across viewpoints is tricky but I will try my luck. Judge me kindly. I’m hopeful.

“Citified Hermitage” is a station which is far from the urban spaces and close to nature where a unified community culture is intended to be established. The intention is to understand the notion of well-being far from a diverse urban society. Analyzing the potential advantages of deciphering peoples attitude towards “getting old” and “distress” into a positive trigger by making the community understand the values of natural resources. Proposing the thesis in close lines with the Viennese sensitivity towards the Viennese forest region as a getaway destination. My research would be studying the spiritual and experiential character of space by examining movements and visual connections while commuting through the site.

Neighbourhood block, is split up by the existing pathway into block A and B. The existing route is something which I kept to get a sense of belonging for the existing users of the site. Further, the building is designed corresponding various fragments of curves and straight lines. This helped me to get a reference to all the lines I drew on my sketching board. Thus the plan is developed.

The Block is composed inside a semi transparent Rectangular box structure. The building is split into two blocks. One mainly for research and donation the other part for communal gathering. The street which splits the building is the actuall pathway which cuts through the site.

SECTION A NATURE PARK The section here cut along the nature park and the rectangular transition space. This is the far end of the site and like I mentioned before the footprint is reduced to its minimum at this north end of the site. The idea of construction, destruction and reconstruction is overall notion I’m using here. In other words, with the community center representing “construction idea” with a superstructure, through meditation center the spaces deconstructs and goes into the foundations and here at nature park im intending the practice of reconstructing nature. The idea of “Capsula Mundi” is implemented at this park. Ashes will be held in small egg-shaped bio urns while bodies will be laid down in a fetal position in larger pods. The Capsula will then be buried as a seed in the earth. A tree, chosen in life by the deceased, will be planted on top of it and serve as a memorial for the departed and as a legacy for posterity and the future of our planet.

THE SEED / MEDITATION CENTER This block is dedicated as a meditation center that symbolizes elements of the earth. The ramp as Earth, the center/focus platform in which the ramp surrounds as fire other elements are portrayed simultaneously with waterbody and fenestrations under the water pond.

9

The earth is scooped out to make a direct access using a circular ramp sandwiched between the 45cm thick retaining wall. The spaces are generated as a result of the layering of concentric circles and lines of accessibility.

The upper deck of the center is a device to contain water. The gradual unfolding of these spaces is intended to create a sense of curiosity within the perceivers and involves them in the process. The section here is to understand how light plays within the built interior spaces. Here the sun is the consistent variable as it changes position and intensity from morning to evening from summer to winter.

Proposed site

17 The IIM Udaipur campus is located along the Ahmedabad Udaipur,Highway (NH-8) in the village Balicha. One of the main concerns while working on projects of such stature, scale and site is the relationship with the surroundings. If IIM Udaipur existed in isolation and as just another locked up knowledge village then neither would the city and its citizens nor the institute itself benefit from each other. The campus is 8 Kms south of Udaipur city and the nearest village of Lai is approximately 2 kms away.

If IIM Udaipur existed in isolation and as just another locked up knowledge village then neither would the city and its citizens nor the institute itself benefit from each other. The campus is 8 Kms south of Udaipur city and the nearest village of Lai is approximately 2 kms away. Though these villages today seem few and far between, IIM is going to be the new catalyst for the growth of Udaipur. In no time we will see a whole new line of development flanking the Highway, slowly away Position ofeating Academic Block into these small villages, one at a time. The first question which we thus posed to our self was, what should the institution be like? Will it be a part of

Much like the palaces and havelis of Udaipur or any surrounding village settlement, the campus and its buildings structure themselves around water bodies. A typical temple town would be the best example to describe the nature of development in IIM Udaipur. Academic Block

The Academic building forms the heart of the campus. Located along the longest valley on site and structured around the biggest and the only permanent water body not only gives the building long views into the horizon but also gives it a character of a pause point, a place of transition; Transition from building to nature and what is more apt to define the transition than a university plaza which acting as a check dam with all academic buildings looking into it.

Extension to Royal Institute of Arts, Studio 05 Offbeat, Stockholm, Sweden Location Semester Mode of Presentation Tutors University Course

Skeppsholmen, KKH, Stockholm 01st, August 2017. ArchiCAD 21 | Photoshop CC 2015 | Keyshot 5 Ulrika Karlsson, Cecilia Lundbäck KTH Royal Institute, Stockholm, Sweden Ms Architecture

On the aspect of beat, onbeat and offbeat the studio is focussed on what is added and what is existing. Automation and fabrication is also focussed. The studio also pushes on idea on making a superdrawing based on fabric and color. The Royal Institute of Art at Skeppsholmen, suffered from fire in August 2016, Studio spaces, workshops and student projects were majorly affected by the incident. The studio explores the possibility of its restoration and its development. The approach towards the design encourages an explorative study to technology, where tools and techniques are explored, questioned, used, and misused. The experiments with the Kuka robot create patterns and these patterns are tested to create a usable Architectural space.

26

Working with KUKA Robot Here the design notion used is "Stacking" The requirements are converted to wooden blocks and these blocks are subjected to "stacking"into Robot arms and tested. The concept of Jenga is taken for testing the idea of stacking. This research is to find the precision that a robot can produce over analogue experiments done manually. The slight error in the coding for the Robot resulted in the experiment to fail. But the precision in which the Robot stacks the wooden blocks at the initial stages where noted and helped us to carry forward with further tests.

Experimenting the various possibilities of stacking the Total area on the site

Clustering of Blocks

27

Rotating of Blocks

Arranging of blocks with respect to pathways

In each of these experiments in order to trace the movement of the blocks, color is sprayed at every step. The traces movements are further used for space making.

Ottakring, Vienna, Austria 03rd, December 2018. ArchiCAD 21 | Photoshop CC 2015 | Keyshot 5 Individual Daniel Burn, Jamie Wakeford Newcastle University, UK Erasmus Exchange, Ms Architecture

The fundamental thought of the design is to research how do structures influence our wellbeing and prosperity. How would we decipher the topic of prosperity in the city to make an individual methodology. Passionate physical, ecological and Preparing a reaction to that subject through a urban texture.

35

The Grid during the exhibition. The idea of the grid is generated from the question of how to represent the places of interest ( Open spaces, Infrastructure, Landmarks, Urban Blocks ) on the city grid. Each square within this grid is used to assemble the findings gathered from Vienna.

The main part of the building houses spaces for the older generation and the public. The space has movable modules of 9 sqm each which can be configured differently according to the need.

SECTION A

39

The project focuses more on the user experience of the space from the view of an outsider. The transition between the Eastern and the Western regions is what i was interested in. It was becoming less lively and there were fewer people, the further I walked into the center of the district away from the nearest train station. The shift of the open park spaces from the south to the north, More trees, less traffic, detached urban blocks, less noise and air pollution, accessible parks, public gyms where few things that hit my senses
