quoth the raven “I always knew he was a certain talent, an unreal talent. But when you get around him, you get to see he’s truly a quarterback. It’s one thing to be an unreal talent, but to be a quarterback is something you’re truly chosen to do, and he was chosen to be a quarterback. He has a good feel for everybody, he has a good feel for level of communication, he can read body language, [and] he can read people’s abilities in different speeds, tempos [and] how you run routes.” – WR Nelson Agholor on QB Lamar Jackson

Owning the NFL’s best record at 12-3, the Baltimore Ravens can clinch the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed (homefield advantage & a first-round bye) today if they secure a victory over the 11-4 Miami Dolphins, who currently stand No. 2 in the conference. A win would also clinch the Ravens’ first AFC North title since 2019, as Baltimore currently holds a two-game lead over 10-5 Cleveland. Following this New Year’s Eve battle at M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens close regular season action by hosting Pittsburgh, which remains in playoff contention. With two games to play, the Ravens have already sealed their 11th playoff berth during head coach John Harbaugh’s 16 years at the helm. Only the Patriots (12) have earned more playoff berths than the Ravens since Coach Harbaugh’s 2008 arrival. (Green Bay also owns 11 postseason berths during this time span.) The all-time Baltimore-Miami regular season series is tied, 8-8, including a 7-3 mark under Coach Harbaugh. The Ravens are 4-2 vs. the Dolphins in Charm City, winning four of the past five games. In a dominant 33-19 Week 16 win at San Francisco on Monday Night Football, Baltimore recorded 5 INTs (2 by S Kyle Hamilton and 1 apiece by CB Marlon Humphrey, ILB Patrick Queen & S Marcus Williams), scoring 17 points off the takeaways. The Ravens also

posted 4 sacks (2 by DE Brent Urban and 1 apiece by DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney & OLB Kyle Van Noy). NFL MVP candidate QB Lamar Jackson was once again brilliant, completing 23-of-35 passes for 252 yards and 2 TDs (WR Nelson Agholor & WR Zay Flowers) for a 105.9 rating, while also adding a team-high 45 rushing yards on 7 attempts (6.4 ypc.). With the win, Baltimore secured an NFL-best 7-1 record on the road this season. 2023 baltimore ravens gameday | 5

As an athlete and as a football player especially, it needs to be done on the field in the game. ... We’re not finished, and that’s just the regular season [that] we’re not finished with yet. JUSTIN MADUBUIKE Lurking in the Shadows, Bursting onto the Scene

come from following the offseason departures of key defenders. However, Madubuike and his teammates tuned out the noise while working hard on their craft. This season, Baltimore leads the league in sacks (54) and TDs allowed (22), while ranking second in yards allowed per play (4.5). None of it would have come to fruition without selflessness, confidence and trust. “We all love each other. Love is a word that is thrown around like candy, but we really do. I really enjoy going to work with these guys,” Madubuike exclaimed. AFTER A HEARTBREAKING PLAYOFF

exit last January, Justin Madubuike promised himself that he’d be one of the team’s best players for the upcoming season. In a quiet moment, as he reflected on the 2022 campaign, he thought, “I’m athletic. I’m fast. I’m quick. Those are characteristics of a pass rusher, so why am I not getting sacks?”

a perfect fit. Baltimore’s defense has always had the reputation for its physicality, explosiveness and pure dominance. Since his arrival, he has steadily improved each season, continuing to set the bar even higher for himself.

Along the way, Madubuike has emerged as a major difference maker in 2023. He became the first Ravens player since 2017 to hit double-digit sacks in a single season and tied an NFL record with 11 consecutive games with at least a half-sack. With two regular season games left, and the playoffs on the horizon, there is a lot to look forward to for Madubuike, but he knows this is only the beginning.

“Opposing teams are going to have to deal Born to Nigerian parents in McKinney, Texas, all with me for a minute “In my mind, this isn’t a Madubuike knew was hard one-year thing, because I work and being intentional because I figured it know what I can do to be with his goals. He knew out, and I’m coming.” even better,” he expressed. earning a full scholarship to a top football program wouldn’t be easy, but he was determined to work for it. He attended early morning practices and spent extra time in the weight room after practice, finding any way to enhance his game.

His intentionality, hard work and natural athletic ability led him to Texas A&M as a five-star recruit. His biggest game came against Clemson in his third year when he registered three tackles and a sack. After that game, NFL defensive stars sent him messages about him being a baller, but he didn’t rest there. In his final year, he led the Aggies with 11.5 TFL and 5.5 sacks, earning AP All-SEC second-team honors. When Madubuike was selected by Baltimore in the third round of the 2020 draft, he knew the Ravens were

In the summer of 2022, he connected with the pass rush guru and later-tobe Ravens outside linebackers coach, Chuck Smith, in Atlanta, with a desire to sharpen his skills. “I just wanted to find ways that could help me improve. I wanted to get better,” Madubuike explained. “The NFL is cutthroat. You just want to make sure that you’re drastically improving and showing that you can be an asset and not a liability.” Fast forward a year to this past August, some pundits wondered where the Ravens’ pass rush and sacks were going to

“Opposing teams are going to have to deal with me for a minute because I figured it out, and I’m coming.”

Now in his sixth season as a Raven, RB Gus Edwards, has continued to prove himself as a major part of the Ravens’ ground game. He leads the team in rushing touchdowns with a career-high 12 scores. As the “Gus Bus” continues to roll, get to know more about him below:

Who first inspired you to play football?

What’s your favorite football moment/memory?

 Before playing football, I didn’t know anything about it. Somebody approached me to try it, and I just started playing when I was 11 years old.

 I’m waiting for one this year. I’m waiting to win the Super Bowl and seeing what that feels like.

What is your biggest accomplishment in life?  Being a father. Just being able to provide for my son and making sure he’s good.

Favorite part about being a member of the Baltimore Ravens?  When we win. Being on a winning team is fun. We’re always contenders.

Favorite Restaurant in Baltimore?  I love Caribbean food, so Konoko Restaurant. They serve Jamaican food.

Who on the team is the biggest hype man?  The running back group. We’re always cheering each other on.

Do you have a favorite football TD/celebration?  I don’t have one, but I’m waiting to break a long touchdown run, and I’m just going to go with whatever comes to my mind. It has to be like 50 yards or more.

Do you have a favorite inspirational quote?  I have a favorite bible verse. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13

Are there any nonprofit / charitable organizations that you support or would like to support?  I have my own Gus the Bus Foundation. I help kids at my old elementary school in Staten Island and in Baltimore during the holidays. We also do holiday and back-to-school shopping sprees.

BALTIMORE’S MARCHING RAVENS PRESENTED BY M&T BANK

Currently in its 76th season of operation, Baltimore’s Marching Ravens consists of over 150 musicians, Crew Members, and Staff. On gameday, the Marching Ravens can be found at their pregame concert at Oriole Park, marching down RavensWalk and through the tailgate lots, and performing in the stadium throughout gameday. In addition to performing at Ravens home games, the ensemble continues to be deeply involved in the Maryland community, appearing at several parades and events throughout the year. Truly a Maryland tradition and a Pro Football Institution. For information and to schedule an appearance, visit:

RISE & CONQUER

The Ravens’ live mascots, Rise and Conquer, live in the Animal Embassy at the Maryland Zoo. These important birds aren’t able to travel due to a dangerous avian flu. But you can meet other Zoo animals along Ravens walk before each home game. For more information, visit:

POE

PRESENTED BY MERRITT CLUBS

For the 2023 season, Poe can be found doing what he loves most – hanging out with fans and cheering on the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Find him on Ravens gameday to say hi! Poe also loves meeting fans out in the Baltimore community. Bring Poe to your event in 2023!
