quoth the raven

“Everything we want is still in front of us. We are going to keep stacking. We are going to take it game by game. We can’t look ahead. We are going to stack it, we are going to get ready for Atlanta, and we are going to do everything we can to win that game. Then, we are going to do everything we can to win the next game, win the next play and win the next second. I have faith in our

The Baltimore Ravens (9-5), who have won six of their past eight games, host the Atlanta Falcons (5-9) today on Christmas Eve. Baltimore currently sits one game behind the Bengals (10-4) for the AFC North lead with three regular season games to play, including a Week 18 contest in Cincinnati.

Entering Week 16, the Ravens hold the AFC’s fifth playoff seed. Baltimore has clinched a postseason berth in three (2018-20) of the past four seasons and has earned the playoffs nine times during John Harbaugh’s 14 full seasons.

Baltimore is 9-5 for the sixth time in franchise history (also 2001, 2008, 2012, 2014 & 2020), earning the playoffs in each of those previous seasons. The 2022 campaign marks the Ravens’ 11th winning season under Harbaugh.

Baltimore leads the all-time series vs. Atlanta, 4-2. Under Coach Harbaugh, the Ravens are 2-1 against the Falcons, last winning, 26-16, a 2018 battle in Atlanta.

With starting QB Lamar Jackson (knee) sidelined for the second-straight game, the Ravens dropped a tough contest at Cleveland last Saturday, 13-3. Though Baltimore rushed for 198 yards, including 125 by RB J.K. Dobbins, the Ravens were only able to score 3 points (a 53-yard K Justin Tucker FG) in the cold, blustery conditions. Backup QB Tyler Huntley was 17-of-30 for 138 yards, throwing 1 INT. Baltimore also lost a fumble (WR Demarcus Robinson) and was unable to convert a fourth-and-1 situation from the Browns’ 7-yard line on its opening

numbers to note

– NFL defender (LB Roquan Smith) this season with at least 4 sacks and 3 INTs.

6 – Games – including three straight contests – in which the Ravens have allowed 14 points or fewer, marking the NFL’s second most (SF is first with eight).

199 – Regular season games the Ravens have played at M&T Bank Stadium since its 1998 opening. Today’s contest marks the venue’s 200th regular season contest. Baltimore is 140-59 at home during this time.

355 – Career FGM for K Justin Tucker, who last Saturday set a new franchise record, surpassing K Matt Stover’s previous mark of 354. In Week 14, Tucker also became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, besting Stover’s previous high of 1,464 points.

offensive drive. The Ravens outgained Cleveland in total yards (324-283), with LB Roquan Smith posting a teamhigh 11 tackles, including 1 for loss. Baltimore also tallied 3 sacks, holding QB Deshaun Watson to 161 yards on 18of-28 passing in his first home game as Cleveland’s starter.

“It means a lot to me. I live in this community, so whatever I can do in the community I live in, why not?”

Chuck Clark noticed Heather Darney – vice president of community relations & executive director of the Ravens Foundation –standing near the auditorium’s entrance as he, teammates and coaches filed in for Baltimore’s first team meeting following a difficult defeat to Jacksonville just two days prior.

“Heather’s not usually there,” Clark reflected days later, piecing together the events that followed. He took his seat. In a room filled with nearly 150 theater-style chairs, he found comfort in the one directly in front of Calais Campbell, the NFL’s 2019 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

Considered one of the league’s most prestigious honors, the award recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service off the field, as well as excellence on it. “We’re going to start off with

John Harbaugh announced, deviating from his typical meeting intro. “The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award – you guys are familiar with that, right?” Coach then continued, sharing aloud the significance of the award and a lengthy list of community endeavors that Clark – the soonto-be-named Ravens’ nominee –participated in.

Still, it didn’t register. “I had no idea until my name was called,” Clark acknowledged. “I was surprised, and I was happy at the same time. I really can’t put words to it. There are just so many guys on this team who do so many good things in the community here and back in their hometowns.”

He’s absolutely right – as Ravens players consistently share their time and resources with the Baltimore community and beyond – but Clark’s involvement sets him apart.

Clark has always been an advocate for physical action. “I definitely love participating in events promoting outdoor play, movement and activity,” Clark noted as the community programs that resonate with him most, “just because you don’t see kids outside as much as you used to.”

He regularly attends local high school football games, has participated in clinics with Special Olympics Maryland and supports the development of youth flag football programs throughout the region. Clark also champions causes in his community that go far beyond the scope of what many people might think.

As a way to show gratitude and to remember three Baltimore City firefighters who lost their lives – in addition to another who was seriously injured – while responding to a twoalarm blaze last January, Clark joined the Ravens in supplying 38 Baltimore

2022 baltimore ravens

fire stations with custom jerseys and meals. He also met with the colleagues of the fallen heroes to pay his respects.

To expand his charitable efforts, Clark established 36 & Co. Community Outreach, which aims to impact and serve those in need and inspire the lives of young people. Through his fund, Clark annually hosts back-to-school distributions in his hometown of Suffolk, Va.

Clark is also a steady participant in the Ravens’ Community Monday activities. He has regularly shopped with children during the team’s annual Holiday Helpers event, volunteered through the “Caw to Action” initiative and encouraged kids to be active and healthy via the team’s PLAY 60 program. Additionally, Clark is a constant supporter of his teammates’

charitable programs, including food distributions, 5K fundraisers, football camps and more.

“It means a lot to me,” Clark stated of the Baltimore community. “I live here, I work here, my daughters go to school here. I live in this community, so whatever I can do in the community I live in, why not?”

As a nominee, Clark will wear a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal through the end of the season in recognition of his accomplishments on and off the field. “When I saw the decal for the first time, I was just like, ‘Man, this is cool,’” Clark shared, while humorously confessing, “I thought I was going to get the jersey patch, but they said, ‘No, you’ve got to win the whole thing.’”

The 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year will be announced at the

annual NFL Honors show, and if his name is called again, Clark will elevate from a season-long helmet decal to a jersey patch for the rest of his career.

Putting his journey into perspective – a Ravens’ sixth-round pick in 2017, turned reliable starter, then leader on another strong Baltimore defense and stalwart in the community – Clark again displayed his selfless nature, imparting Man of the Year-caliber wisdom that only he could:

“In anybody’s career, you’re going to have ups and downs, and it’s all about how you are as a person and how you’re able to fight in tough times, overcome things and just manage it all. In the midst of all of that, you still have to be true to who you are, give back and do what you can for your community.”

BALTIMORE’S MARCHING RAVENS

PRESENTED

In 2022, Baltimore’s Marching Ravens celebrate their 75th season in continuous operation, dating back to September 7, 1947, and the Baltimore Colts Marching Band. With over 150 musicians and crew members, under direction of John Ziemann, the ensemble continues to be deeply involved in the Baltimore community appearing at several parades and events throughout the year. For more information and to schedule an appearance, visit: BaltimoreRavens.com/MarchingRavens.

POE

PRESENTED

Due to an injury suffered during the 2022 preseason, Poe is currently on Injured Reserve. He really misses hanging out with fans and cheering on the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, but is excited to welcome back Edgar & Allan to help fill in for him during recovery! If you see them around the stadium, be sure to give them a warm welcome back. For more info on Poe, visit BaltimoreRavens.com/Mascots

RAVENSWALK
