C OAC H H A R BAU G H S AY S JOHN HARBAUGH ON THE RAVENS’ CONSISTENT EFFORT & WORK TO IMPROVE: “It’s a long season in this league. How you do it over the long haul is what really counts. The fact that we’ve been able to win games while [still working to improve] is big. It’s not too often that we’ve been 5-1, so I never want to discount that. I never want to discount that with the players. They deserve credit for winning the games, because that’s the goal, and that’s what you judge by. But we have a lot of work to do, and our guys like working, so that’s a good thing.”
(5-1)
QUICK HITS • In a showdown that features the AFC North’s top two teams, the Baltimore Ravens (5-1) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0) at M&T Bank Stadium. The last six meetings between these two rivals have been split, 3-3, with Baltimore sweeping the 2019 series. • The Ravens are 5-1 for the third time in franchise history, also achieving this feat during their Super Bowl-winning seasons (2000 & 2012). Additionally, dating back to Week 5 of 2019, Baltimore has won 17 of its past 18 regular season games. • Baltimore enters this contest fresh off its bye after beating the Eagles, 30-28, in Week 6. In that game, the Ravens held off a late Philadelphia rally after nabbing a 30-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Baltimore’s defense racked up 18 QB hits and 6 sacks, 3 of which came from DE Calais Campbell. Baltimore forced a turnover (S Chuck Clark FR) for its league-best 19th-consecutive game, while on offense, QB Lamar Jackson led the charge by gaining 108 of the Ravens’ 182 rushing yards. Jackson produced a 37-yard rushing TD and threw for another score (7 yards to TE Nick Boyle). K Justin Tucker was clutch, nailing all 3 of his FGAs, including a 55-yarder. • In the all-time Baltimore-Pittsburgh series, the Steelers lead the regular season count, 25-23, also going 3-1 in the playoffs. Under John Harbaugh, Baltimore is 14-13 (including playoffs) against Pittsburgh. • Baltimore’s defense ranks No. 1 in the NFL in points allowed per game (17.3), while Pittsburgh stands No. 6 (19.7). The Ravens rank No. 8 in scoring (29.8 ppg), while the Steelers are No. 6 (30.5 ppg).
I N J U RY U P DAT E DE Derek Wolfe (concussion/neck) and NT Brandon Williams (Reserve/COVID-19) missed Week 6 at Philadelphia, while RB Mark Ingram II (ankle) was injured during the game. Standout specialteamer LB Otaro Alaka (Week 5, knee), CB Anthony Averett (Week 6, clavicle) and top slot CB Tavon Young (Week 2, knee) are on IR.
NOTE THE QUOTE
PASS DEFENSE COORDINATOR CHRIS HEWITT ON CB MARLON HUMPHREY, WHO LEADS THE NFL WITH 4 FORCED FUMBLES, ENTERING WEEK 8: “He has a linebacker mentality; he’s trying to get to the ball. Marlon wants to be a part of the action. He wants to get in on tackles. He’s an all-around football player. If you played him at defensive end or at linebacker, I think he would have that same kind of mentality, because he just plays so hard. He leaves it out there all the time.”
