Tell us about yourself: How did you end up in Baltimore? What do you do for a living?

I am native, fourth generation Baltimorean. I am the proud father of a 12 year old daughter who attends Krieger Schecter Day School. I’ve spent the last 18 years working for CSC ServiceWorks as a Senior Director. CSC ServiceWorks is the nation’s largest provider of Laundry Services to Multi-Family Communities and Air and Vacuum services at Gas Stations/ Convenience Stores. I also work for the Baltimore City Fire Department as an Auxiliary Firefighter. While working these two jobs, I discovered there was a need for a company that could clean ductwork and dryer vents in homes and businesses. The combination of people needing to breathe cleaner air and the need to help prevent fires drove me to get Duct Doctor started in Maryland.

Dust, debris, mold, pet dander and rodent droppings can build up in ductwork. This can cause your HVAC system to work harder to achieve the goals you set for it. I’ve seen it first-hand. Even if you are meticulous about cleaning the lint screen after each dryer load, plenty of lint still accumulates in the vent. What advice would you give our 10,000+ readers?

I recommend that everyone gets their ducts cleaned every 2-3 years depending on various circumstances. Dryer vents should probably be cleaned every 1-2 years depending on the usage of the dryer.
