Baltimore Opportunities
The Power of our Network With 13 colleges and more than 160,000 students, Baltimore is a student-friendly city with campuses that understand the value of collaboration. The Baltimore Collegetown Network provides opportunities for students to work together, get involved, and succeed. CIVIC LEADERSHIP
UNDERGROUND
Each year, 40 students from 10 campuses come together for the Collegetown Fellowship program. Together they learn how to develop visions, take action, and become leaders in their communities. Areas of focus include k-12 education, healthcare, sustainability, neighborhood revitalization, the arts, and more.
The Collegetown Underground experience brings students from multiple campuses together to learn more about the amazing city where they study and live. Topics change each year and have included West Baltimore, East Baltimore, and Art & Soul. This year, the program will be offered virtually.
INTERNSHIPS The online Collegetown internship board has hundreds of listings from companies all over town. Students can find positions that allow them to put their learning into practice and start making connections that could lead to a great first job.
SHUTTLE SERVICE The Collegetown Shuttle is a free transportation service for students and faculty at four participating colleges. When schools have inperson classes, the shuttle makes regular stops on each campus and at area shopping and transit hub destinations. Students can show their ID to board the bus and visit a friend, get to an internship, shop, or explore.
CROSS REGISTRATION The Baltimore Student Exchange Program allows students to cross register for undergraduate classes at any campus in the network. Students frequently use the program to take language, art, science, and special topics classes at no extra cost.
EVENTS What’s going on this weekend? What do other students recommend? Where should I order take out? How can I connect with other students virtually? The Collegetown website, newsletters, and social media accounts have lots of ideas for how to make the most of Baltimore.

Jobs + Internships Baltimore is overflowing with opportunities for students to put their education to work. The region is home to thousands of companies and the area’s booming cyber, biotech, medical, and finance
industries are expanding alongside thriving entrepreneurial, arts, and nonprofit communities. Under Armour, McCormick, Northrop Grumman, Stanley Black & Decker, government agencies (NIH, NSA,
USDA, SSA), and countless start-ups provide tremendous opportunities for student interns – and graduates looking for careers.

NORTH BALTIMORE Along the city’s northern edge, cozy cafes, pizza parlors, and college campuses are tucked into tree-lined streets.
NEIGHBORHOOD Lake Roland and Lake Montebello beckon bikers and runners alike. Belvedere Square is home to a mix of restaurants, shops, and outdoor summer concerts. Students head to the historic Senator Theater for first-run flicks and weekly throwbacks like The Godfather and Princess Bride.

TOWSON & OWINGS MILLS The areas just beyond the city line feature a lively mix of national names in dining, shopping, and entertainment alongside plenty of homegrown haunts.

NEIGHBORHOOD Towson and Owings Mills are minicities energized by college students and overflowing with places to get what you need – from the enormous Towson Town Center mall to Trader Joe’s to boutiques and big-boxes galore. Students also enjoy bikefriendly streets and parks that are great for study breaks.
ONLY IN BALTIMORE Every Baltimore resident has their favorite spot for steamed crabs. Sit by the water downtown ($$) or instead pick them up at one of the many crab houses just north of the city (like the Crackpot, Pappas, OceanPride, and Gibby’s). A bushel along with a group of friends, a few mallets, and something to wash down the Old Bay makes for a quintessential Baltimore night.

NEIGHBORHOOD In the 19th century, Fell’s Point was a major point of entry for immigrants from Ireland, Germany, Russia, Poland, Greece, and more; and today, new residents from Latin America call the neighborhood home.
