I AM THE WARDIAN GARDENER .

My story begins with a seed. A tiny kernel, buried with worn hands beneath the warm earth; an encyclopaedic passion for horticultural artistry, watered with experience, blooming into a visionary reinvention of urban planning.

At the root of the Wardian London concept, I can bring life to every apartment, carefully curating and caring for a selection of low-maintenance, high-impact balcony gardens: living sanctuaries that separate a home from the hustle and bustle below.

Every home at Wardian London has its own private balcony garden. I’m here to assist you to transform this into an oasis, curated and cared for by me.

THIS IS WHERE NATURE MEETS ARCHITECTURE A skyline glimpsed through the greenery, the sounds of the city replaced by the music of the garden.

Inspired by the creativity of 19th-century botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, I work with residents to craft tailored gardens from my favourite ferns and succulents.

Kaleidoscopes of season and colour at the heart of one of London’s – and the world’s – most exciting financial landscapes, each balcony garden features a palette of rich greenery against a backdrop of limestone paving and anodised bronze planters.

L ong, elegant stems gently unfurl to reveal perfectly paired leaves, evoking the serenity of the woodland and the sculptural impact of an ornamental garden. A personal favourite of both myself and Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, it is fitting that the intricate symmetry of these delicate plants finds itself at the centre of the Wardian gardens.

• CARE

Thriving in the darkest forests, the highest mountains and the driest of deserts, the fern is a hardy character, a low-maintenance, high-impact foundation for any contemporary urban garden.

A cast list of chubby characters, a population of sculptural shapes and sizes swollen by the water they store, our succulents and sedums emerge from between the stones, bringing vivid texture, character and colour while demanding little in return.

These hardy plants pretty much look after themselves, but anything they can’t do, I am always on hand to help with.

THE PROCESS MEET BLACKDOWN

Specialists in the innovation and technology of green roofs, Blackdown has been working at the highest levels of technical garden design and installation for over 15 years. Their world-class sustainable horticultural solutions have been the basis for garden roofs across the city and beyond. From the initial order to the final garden, Blackdown are on hand to provide Wardian London residents with a seamless process, from pre-planning, through design, installation and tailored maintenance.

Once residents have selected the balcony garden option, a personal Gardener from Blackdown Green Roofs will be assigned to take them through the entire process.

The first stage sees designs finalised, plants sent to be grown, contracts signed and an initial deposit taken, with a further deposit due prior to the start of the works.

Garden landscaping, substructure and irrigation will be installed pre-handover, with organic base matter carefully packaged to await the plants. Once an apartment is completed and the resident takes occupation, the resident can contact their Blackdown Gardener for plant installation at their convenience.

After a final inspection, the Gardener will provide a comprehensive handover pack detailing maintenance of the garden, and the final balance of payment will be made.

WARDIAN BALCONY GARDENS DESIGNED BY HUW MORGAN

THE BALCONY UPGRADE IS AN ENHANCEMENT TO THE STANDARD BALCONY SPECIFICATION, AND CAN ONLY BE RESERVED THROUGH THE WARDIAN SALES TEAM. FOLLOWING RESERVATION, THE PURCHASER OF THE ASSOCIATED APARTMENT WILL ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR WHO WILL COORDINATE DESIGN, AND DELIVERY AND AGREE DIRECTLY THE ASSOCIATED COSTS AND PAYMENT STRUCTURE OF THE APPROVED BALCONY ENHANCEMENT.
