FROM THE EDITOR

This issue has a special place in my heart for a number of reasons. It heralds a new year in which we’re all hoping that the past two years remain just that – in the past.

But it means so much more. A beautiful book was born last year and the opportunity to ghostwrite Just Teddy – Petals from Paris came out of nowhere. The magical creations of baker extraordinaire Teddy, of Just Teddy, have graced the pages of Nubian Bride since the store opened its doors in 2019. His wedding cakes are legendary – and for good reason. These delicious concoctions are on another level when it comes to taste, originality and sheer beauty. The story behind the Zaki family, who runs Just Teddy, is a beautiful one, one that I was privileged enough to help them share with the world. For a taste of Petals from Paris, you’ll find Teddy’s magical creations in this issue on page 120.

Teddy’s legendary cakes also graced the tables at the bridal shower of his daughter, Jordyne, before she married her childhood sweetheart, Tiago, on 5 February at a magical location in Cape Town. And I was invited to share in the family’s joy, which is an honour. Of course, I also shared many issues of Nubian Bride with Jordyne to give her some ideas of what to do and where to go to put together the perfect wedding. Because that is exactly what Nubian Bride is all about – we o er advice and information for everything you need to know when planning the ideal marriage celebration.

This issue is no exception. Marius Barnard of Weddings by Marius, legendary South African wedding planner and expert in everything bridal, o ers a list of wedding trends to give you inspiration on page 20 and put together a magnificent planning story featuring a Hindu wedding (see page 24). Our magnificent fashion pages (page 66) o er more inventiveness as we showcase exquisite locally made and international gowns, as well as accessories for the bridesmaid, flower girl and page boy. We have all sorts of ideas for beauty, hair, make-up, venues, the registry and honeymoons… Nubian Bride has gone all out to o er you an issue filled with innovation to help you express your individuality and showcase your love on your Big Day.

It’s all here waiting for you on these stunning pages – so let’s begin your wedding adventure! We can’t wait to share it with you!
