President’s Message

President

Heath Kelly Construction

Dear Members,

May continues to bring strong momentum for both our association and our industry. The level of participation we are seeing across events, projects, and membership involvement continues to reinforce the strength of the building community here in Northwest Florida.

First, I want to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Spring Golf Tournament. The event was a tremendous success, and it was great to see so many members, sponsors, and industry partners come together for a day that was both productive and enjoyable. Events like these continue to strengthen relationships within our industry and remind us how valuable association involvement truly is. A tremendous amount of work goes into making these events happen, and we sincerely appreciate all of our sponsors for continuing to support the association and our membership in such a meaningful way.

As we move into May, our next upcoming event will be the Blue Wahoos outing on Friday, May 8th. This will be a great opportunity for members and their families to enjoy an evening together while supporting our local baseball team. Please remember this is a ticketed event, so be sure to secure your tickets ahead of time. You can contact our HBA office for further info. We are looking forward to another great evening with our members and industry partners.

At the state level, the Florida Home Builders Association has begun preparing for the next legislative session and working on issues that directly impact our industry throughout the state. Advocacy remains one of the most important responsibilities of our association at every level. If there are concerns, challenges, or issues affecting your business or sector of the industry, I encourage you to reach out to myself or our local chapter leadership. Many of the topics addressed during the legislative session begin with conversations directly from members working in the field every day. Whether you are a builder, subcontractor, supplier, developer, or associate member, your voice matters and deserves to be heard.

Our 2026 Dream Home in Carrington Lakes continues coming together very nicely, and each month brings more visible progress throughout the home. This project continues to showcase the level of craftsmanship, coordination, and professionalism that exists within our membership. We remain extremely grateful for the sponsors and trade partners helping make this home possible. We look forward to what will be a phenomenal Parade of Homes this year. The quality of homes displayed throughout the area will, as always, be truly impressive and reflect the strength of our local building industry. Events like the Parade of Homes continue to highlight the talent and dedication across our membership.

As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement within the Home Builders Association of West Florida. The momentum within our industry remains strong, and we look forward to continuing to build on that momentum together.

Derby Day on the Greens

Our recent golf tournament was a huge success, bringing members together for a fun day on the course with a Kentucky Derby twist From start to f inish, the energy was high, the competition was strong, and the themed elements made for a memorable event

A big part of what made the day so successful was the support of our sponsors. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, KJM, as well as Prize Sponsor Quality Roof ing, Best Dressed Sponsor Fairway Mortgage, Lunch & Breakfast Sponsors FPL and Gene’s Flooring, Beverage Sponsors LP Building Solutions and Emerald Coast Granite & Tile, and Golf Ball Sponsor Good Foundation. Our tee sponsors also played a huge role, bringing creativity and excitement to each stop along the course

On the course, competition was tight Clear Title took home f irst place, followed by Mortgages by Jamie in second, and Gateway Lighting in third. Individual contests were just as competitive, with Troy Thompson winning Longest Drive and Cade Howell taking Closest to the Pin Team Harvesters stood out with their style, earning Best Dressed honors

A special recognition went to Gulf Coast Insurance, who were awarded a f ree tee sponsorship at our next tournament after going above and beyond with their Derbythemed setup. While not a planned prize, it was one that was absolutely earned.

The Derby theme carried throughout the day with a fun “ racehorse betting” element Each team was assigned a horse name, and players placed f riendly bets on which “horse” would come out on top The winning horse of the day was Gato del Sol, adding another layer of excitement to the tournament.

Gateway Lighting proved to be a standout across the board, placing third overall while also having players win Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, a prize at one of the tee stations, and being a strong contender in the Best Dressed competition making them a clear allaround winner of the day

We also had great participation and winners at the KJM Tee and the always popular Ferguson Chippin’ the Bowl

Overall, it was a fantastic day on the course, and we’re already looking forward to the next tournament.

HBA West Florida Celebrates Closing of Second Affordable Housing Project Home

The Home Builders Association of West Florida is proud to announce the successful closing of the second home in our Affordable Housing Project another meaningful step for ward in expanding homeownership oppor tunities in our community.

We were honored to celebrate this moment with numerous donors, par tners, and HBA members who joined us onsite for the ribbon cutting and closing. Their suppor t and involvement are what make projects like this possible, and their presence ser ved as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when our industr y comes together.

For the new homeowner, the experience has been incredibly meaningful:

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Builders A Florida for the incredible teamwork, the strong par tn businesses, and the time and care you poured into reb home

I’ ve found myself over whelmed with emotion and pride in details the beautiful counter tops, the floors, the ama open to the back porch where the sunset brings such pe bathrooms, the mud room, the custom closets, the driveway, and the stunning woodwork on both porches could go on for days Y ll th b t t h t d d it k l dl

While this closing represents a major milestone for one family, it also highlights a bigger purpose. This project continues to ser ve as a model for future affordable housing initiatives and reinforces the HBA’s commitment to building stronger communities through collaboration, craftsmanship, and oppor tunity. We look for ward to continuing this momentum and creating even more pathways to homeownership in the months ahead

Parade of Homes Date Change!

We’re excited to share a few updates for this year ’s Parade of Homes The event has been moved to August 14–16, with the Kick-Off Par ty now set for August 13th This shift allows builders additional time to complete projects and ensures we’re showcasing homes at their best

The Parade continues to be one of the most effective ways for builders to gain exposure in our community With thousands of magazines distributed and strong traff ic across both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, par ticipating builders benef it f rom increased visibility, brand recognition, and the opportunity to highlight their craftsmanship to potential buyers and industry par tners Many builders also continue to use their Parade listings and awards in their marketing long after the event weekend

This year, we’re offering an added opportunity to enhance your listing through professional photography Builders can opt in for photography ser vices to elevate how their homes are presented both in the Parade magazine and on our website helping ensure your work stands out across all platforms

We’re proud to recognize our Parade Presenting Sponsors KJM Land Sur veying, Pensacola Energy, Fair way Home Mor tgage, Florida Power and Light, University Lending, and Disaster Smart whose support helps make this event possible

The Kick-Off Par ty continues to grow each year, with a histor y of 170+ attendees, and we’ ve off icially outgrown our previous venue This year, we’re excited to host the event at Seville Quarter, which will provide more space for attendees, additional screens for our awards slideshow, and even more opportunities for builders to connect with fellow members and industry par tners We also still have sponsorship opportunities available for those looking to be par t of one of our most anticipated events of the year
