Bridesmaids to Bridesmates
There are few occasions in life quite so steeped in tradition as a wedding, which can unfortunately make being part of the wedding party an anxiety-inducing time for the non-binary among us. However, don’t fret as there are plenty of ways to include your non-binary pals in your wedding, without using dated, gendered terms. Introducing: the bridesmate. In 2023, wedding planners and industry experts are seeing a big shift in revamping the traditional (and outdated) notion of the bridal party, with more and more couples making it their own, opting for bridesmates, bridesmen and men of honor. Using more gender-neutral terms for people in your wedding party can help make sure they feel included and comfortable as part of your big day, rather than left out by the sometimes antiquated language used in weddings.
Few shopping experiences are as exciting as purchasing a diamond engagement ring. There are several important factors to be considered when shopping for your forever ring. However, perhaps the most important is the shape of the principal diamond. Although the classic round continues to reign as the most popular shape, once out-of-style shapes, like the oval, are also making a big comeback this year. According to the International Gem Society (IGS), the square-shaped princesscut diamond comes in at number two for this year’s most popular cut. Although square-shaped diamonds have roots going back centuries, the princess-cut itself is a relative newcomer to the engagement ring market. However, the exact number of facets and their arrangement are not standardized, resulting in each stone having its own unique character. According to IGS, rectangularshaped stones, such as emerald cuts, are another style that’s shining bright for brides in 2023. Unlike rounds and princess-cut squares, emerald cuts showcase a brilliant or mixed faceting pattern, which gives them that flashy, sort of shattered glass look. Although emerald cuts show less sparkle than rounds, these stones have a marked elegance all their own. In 2023, many couples are also opting for colorful gemstones to serve as the principal stone for their rings. Nothing is off limits so, be bright, be bold and most importantly, be you!

Set the mood with the lighting for your special day. This wedding season we are never ever,-ever,-ever using the big light. Some couples are opting for neon signs to create a picture perfect photo op for their guests (perfect for posting and hash-tagging on social media). Others are bringing warmth to the space with candles dispersed throughout–giving the perfect low light, just after sunset vibe. If you’re looking for a dreamy fairytale ceremony or reception, a ceiling of lights mixed with drapery creates a dreamlike atmosphere encapsulating all of the romance in the celebration.
