The Gone Riding Catalogue - #GR40

We are excited to bring you the 40th edition of the Gone Riding Catalogue!

Geoff Ballard (GB) started with the concept of a basic catalogue or information type brochure in 1989 while running his new XR’s Only business and Honda XR race team. GB was and still is constantly expanding the Ballard’s Off-road range and is continuously coming up with different contraptions, tools and trick products to make tasks at home, the track or trail easier. Jam packed, the first ever edition of the catalogue was released in 1990 keeping it fun with Roger Harvey cartoons because that’s what he believes riding dirt bikes is all about. All these years later GB and the team at MXstore are continuing this legacy by bringing you the 40th edition of the Gone Riding Catalogue which is mind blowing!

Still to this day, GB is a firm believer in physically holding and touching a catalogue, that is why the Gone Riding Catalogue will continue to be printed and sent out Australia wide while also being available online at no cost. The advantage of a physical copy is the chance to learn and see products you never knew were available. Sometimes online shopping can limit what we see unless we know exactly what we are looking for.

Like many of you, we have multiple copies, one for the coffee table, one to highlight, one to take the track or one to give to a mate who needs it more. Believe it or not, this is the same method GB uses to start the new catalogue, with what looks like 300 sticky notes, many highlighted sections and a bunch of scribbles the new catalogue starts to be reborn.

To us, it looks like organised chaos but as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

As you can imagine this mammoth catalogue has evolved over the years but one thing remains the same, GB and the team continue to struggle with attempting to fit Australia’s largest range of gear, parts and accessories, new trick products and more cartoons from cover to cover. So be sure to check out each and every page to catch those hidden gems.

The 10th edition of catalogue was from the old Honda XR Days, incorporating all the earlier Enduro Champions & Thumper Nats to even the timeless Honda CR500’s and CR250’s.

The Ballard’s Offroad team riders have been such a great part of the journey which coincided with our constant development and testing.

While showcasing good times and great promotion it’s all been a part of what makes up the Ballard’s Offroad products and even the brand itself. It all started from simply the passion of just riding to then racing and wanting to be the best of the best! With over 100 Australian titles Ballard’s became Australia’s most successful Offroad team all while testing and developing new products and having a bloody good time.

Again with your loyalty, we are able to support the industry with events, which helps grow the sport within Australia and in turn encourage people to RIDE MORE! Our team loves to bring you fun, family orientated, action packed events for all to enjoy and even some for a great cause. These include;

The 125 Cup which was held at our local track, Gold Coast Motocross Club. These events brought the has beens out of retirement, newcomers and even current pros, all fighting it out on their 125 2 smokers. This event had a huge impact to the Gold Coast motocross scene with record numbers of riders and spectators with an incredible amount of laughs and banter. Even those that followed along on social media could feel the atmosphere and vibe. This event has now evolved to the 125 Cup Triple Crown in 2022. This 3 round series is designed to allow pros and clubman riders the chance to race for loads of prizes and prize money (Don’t forget the epic trophies). Every bit of prize money received from sponsors has gone straight back into the event and given back to the riders. To embrace our motto Ride More and to ensure maximum fun was had, the first 20 entrants in each class didn’t have to pay an entry fee. We also have major intentions of making this series an Australia wide platform, so don’t worry interstate fans, we are coming for you!

As you have seen we are out there hands on supporting a variety of industry partners including Airtime FMX which is a captivating and jaw dropping live Freestyle Motocross show at major events Australia-wide.

Supporting the off-road industry with Transmoto which is held at seven different locations on the east coast of Australia. The Australian Off Road Championships (AORC) which is a 12 round series held at six different locations. Reliability Trials Club of Brisbane (RTCB) and Dalby Moto Trail Rides.

Supporting the Motocross community with multiple events such as King of MX, Coffs Harbor Stadium Cross, Sunshine State MX Series, King of Capricorn, Merry Motoland, Dust Hustle, Minikhana State Titles, Minibike Heroes, Arenacross, Aus X open, Easterland at Motoland and the Manjimup 15,000.

On top of these we are also partnered with many tracks and parks Australia wide ensuring you all have places to ride. All of these partnerships allow us to encourage you to Ride More all while helping grow the sport no matter what discipline you choose to ride.

Another notable event was the No Rest for Breasts held at MX Farm in Gympie, QLD. Working alongside Corey Creed, this event was for a great cause which raised much needed funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

This very unique weekend was filled with adult 110 races, junior races and senior endurance races. The pledge-a-thon style event helped riders raise money as some competed to ride either 2 or 6 hours straight solo or 6 hours straight in a team. The moto community managed to raise over $30,000 for breast cancer research!

We are also stoked to introduce the all new MXstore Photo Gallery which contains the entire collection of pictures from past events all available for free online. These events are designed to support and grow the industry, taking us back to the core roots of why we ride, why we love the industry and why we do what we do all while having fun on our dirt bikes. Our athlete/ambassador program is another way we are able to help grow the sport, supporting up and coming juniors, current pro’s and riders making a difference to the industry. This program is designed to be a stepping stone for future star riders before they are signed to a factory team and no longer require the support from MXstore. Currently our program is split into sectors with Pro athletes, junior riders (Grom Squad), off-road riders and coaches all helping grow sport, make it safer and more accessible. Some of these riders include, X-Games Gold Medalist Corey Creed, The Lawrence brothers (Hunter and Jett) who are delivering some never before seen content to you. Multiple Australian Off-road Champion Daniel Milner who is chasing his dream of becoming Enduro World Champion. The media team share your passion for the industry, if you haven’t already you need to do yourself a favor and check out the MXstore YouTube series Wreckers to Checkers. We had three bikes, a budget of $6000.00 and Covid tax playing its part, Nige, Mic and Dyl turned the bikes into race/show bikes which were featured at our first ever Show and Shine. The Show and Shine allowed the community to bring their own bikes and have them on display with industry partners, food trucks, music and more. NOW, WHAT DID WE DO WITH THE BIKES? We decided to auction the bikes off on eBay with free shipping Australia wide and with your help the moto community managed to raise $25,302. This money was given back to riding parks around Australia (Forbes Auto Sports Club, Kyogle Dirt Bike Club, Krusic’s Ride Park, Park4MX, Launceston Junior MX Track and Rockhampton Motocross Club).

Of course with this fully adjustable (1400mm to 1950mm) MotoRak you can secure any combo of 1-2 or 3 bikes into the multiple wheel chock locations. Improve your reaction time and learn to control power out of the gate and into the first corner. The “Holeshot” is an electronic, wireless, random timed practice starting gate. This innovative product allows riders to independently practice their starts. When the rider presses the wireless remote button mounted on their cross bar pad, it will activate a computer controlled timing sequence which will drop the gate randomly.
