REMEMBERING THE NATIONAL APOLOGY DAY IN BALLARAT
On February 13 in 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, made a formal apology to Australia’s Stolen Generations, those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who had been removed as children from their families and their culture.
The City of Ballarat is taking a moment to remember the National Apology, and the effect it had on the Stolen Generations.

The BIG Summer Read helps to sustain your child’s literacy level during the Summer school break with a reading challenge and activities.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The BIG Summer Read is open to children aged 0-18 years of age.
Participants can register and log their reading via the Beanstack website plv.beanstack.org, choosing Ballarat Libraries as your primary library. Alternatively, download the Beanstack Tracker app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Want to participate offline? Paper reading logs are available from in-branch and are eligible for entry into the local prize pool only.
PRIZES TO WIN
State Prizes: Three winners will be drawn randomly from participants across Victoria who complete the challenge on Beanstack only.
Terms and conditions can be found at plv.org.au/projects/big-summerread. The prize pool consists of:
0-8 years: $250 Readings gift voucher 9-12 years: $250 Readings gift voucher 13-18 years: $500 Readings gift voucher
Local Prize: One local winner will be drawn at random from participants who complete the challenge with a paper entry. The winner will receive selected books to the value of $100.00 from Collins Booksellers.
