Public Holiday Closures

All City of Ballarat Libraries and Community Hubs will be closed on Monday 8 June for the King’s Birthday public holiday.

After-hours chutes are available at Ballarat Library, Sebastopol Library and Wendouree Library.

Want to learn about what the City of Ballarat has on offer for people aged 55 and over?

The Ageing Well Services Team provides a range of free and low-cost services, events and activities throughout the year.

City of Ballarat also has a dedicated team, Community Connectors, that can assist residents aged 55 and over and their carers to connect with the local community and navigate services such as My Aged Care.

The Australian Ballet Dance Workshops

To celebrate The Australian Ballet On Tour in Ballarat, you’re invited to participate in a dance workshop inspired by classical favourites and exciting new works.

These workshops are led by staff from The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team and are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of learning style or physical ability.

Explore creative games and storytelling through movement in this workshop for children aged 3-5. The dance workshop promotes movement skill development, working with others, sequencing and literacy, and costumes and props will be used to enrich the learning experience.

Ballarat Libraries is proud to present Wellbeing Matters, a series of monthly sessions focusing on general wellbeing. Be inspired to lead a happier and healthier life.

Sustainable Living at Home

Living sustainably starts at home. Join the City of Ballarat Sustainable Environment team and discover practical tips, rebates and local resources to help you create a more sustainable home. The session will include a demonstration of a thermal camera, showing how heat is gained and lost in homes. Thermal cameras are available to borrow through Ballarat Libraries’ Energy Saver Kits, so you can continue learning at home.

Virtual Reality Free Play

Take your next steps in Virtual Reality with Ballarat Library’s Virtual Reality Free Play sessions.

These sessions allow you to explore a range of experiences and apps at your own pace. This is a self-guided program, but staff will be on hand should you require assistance.

Little Figures, Long Shadows is an exhibition of 3D printed busts of historical LGBTIQA+ people with a connection to Ballarat. Some were born here, others were raised here, some worked here, and some found their final rest here.

The Little Figures, Long Shadows exhibition busts were 3D printed in the Maker Space. Come to a workshop during Pride Month and learn to make your own.

Maker Space Safety Induction

Excited to use the Ballarat Library Maker Space? Book in to attend a Maker Space Safety Induction. Only those who have completed a safety induction can use the Maker Space. These sessions cover important information and safety procedures about the Maker Space and its equipment including 3D printers, Cricut ® cutters and heat press.

To use the Maker Space, you must be a library member aged 15 years and older.

Ages 15+

Young people aged 15 to 17 must attend with a guardian to sign the user agreement.

3D Printing Q&A

Increase your 3D Printing and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills. Book a 1-hour session and get tips and tricks for your CAD models. Learn to use the Bambu Carbon multi-coloured print settings to bring your models to life.

Let’s Discover

Learn to use the equipment in our Maker Space, where creativity meets technology! Let’s Discover is a series of fun, beginner-friendly sessions exploring our 3D printers, badge maker, Cricut machine and sewing machines. These are skillsfocused sessions covering tips, tricks and troubleshooting - no projects will be made during the program.

Drop-In Drag workshops cover the fundamentals of design, construction and finishing for performance fashion, all on a tight budget. Transform old clothes and soft furnishings into the outfit of your dreams and get ready to leave no crumbs on the catwalk!
