NODIADAU NIGEL’S NOTES Writing my programme notes for this Saturdays crucial JD Cymru Premier just after the excitement of a penalty shoot out win in the Nathaniel League Cup against a plucky and skilful Bangor City team. It is always a nerve wrecking experience but when it goes to 8-7 that increases the anxiety but also the elation when the winning spot kick goes in for you! We were certainly fortunate to progress to the quarter final stage and now face another tricky test as we visit JD Cymru North high flyers Prestatyn. Bangor were certainly impressive

despite the number of completely unknown players from such an International squad and will look to once again develop a team to challenge at the top of the Welsh pyramid. Interesting to say the least! We now however turn our attention to this afternoon and the visit of Carmarthen. This fixture is always a tough test for Bala and despite the lowly League position of our visitors today I am sure we are in for another severe test of our top 6 credentials. It certainly is a fixture that should excite the Maes Tegid followers and hopefully produce the outcome of an invaluable 3 points haul. I hope that all who have travelled from the south will enjoy our hospitality and

have a safe journey both ways. The Cymru Premier is taking on a very different aspect this season with the usual front runners taking a far less prominent position. The door is well and truly open and today will be a big indicator of whether the Lakesiders are ready to walk through it! We follow this with the eye watering prospect of welcoming League leaders Barry Town to Maes Tegid next Saturday. Please put the 2.30 kick off in your diary. Excitement continues to build! Thanks to everyone for your attendance today. Enjoy!

BALA TOWN 1, BANGOR CITY 1 The Lakesiders booked themselves a spot in the Quarter Finals of the Nathaniel MG Cars League Cup on Tuesday evening after a 7-6 penalty shootout win against JD Cymru North outfit Bangor City. It was a frantic start to proceedings at a wet Maes Tegid with clear cut chances few and far between for both outfits during the first half. Mendes had Town’s first opportunity on goal as his low drive went wide of the far upright from the edge of the box after five minutes of play.

took the lead. Molyneux initially fired into the box but it bounced back into Robles’ path and he lobbed the keeper from 6 yards with a looping effort. After an initial offside flag, the decision was overturned and Bala were 1-0 up.

The game was quite scrappy at times with no team taking a full hold of the game with Bangor looking to break quickly but Spittle and Stephens at the back for Town City came back into the game at keeping them at bay. the end of the half with Baio Neto’s strike was fired straight at blazing over and then Neto seeing Morris in the Bala net before his chance collected by Morris. Molyneux won a freekick down the Bala thought they’d begun the other end on the touchline which second half in the best fashion was taken quickly and finding Robles but the forward firing wide. when Lassana Mendes fired in with a long range effort but it was Bala were having a good spell of denied as Jones was impeding on possession with Jones teeing up Atkinson’s view whilst offside. The visitors had their tails up with Serafino firing wide and Neto shooting over as they looked to take the lead. Atkinson kept out Burke’s low daisycutter prior to Sean Smith driving down the wing and into the area for the keeper to smother to ball. With no sign of a winner, the

whistle blew for fulltime and to penalties we went. Firing towards the Ifan Vet end, City were up first with Sammartino stepping up first and scoring. Venables was next for Town making it 1-1. Serafino made it 2-1 before Burke levelled to make it 2-2. Former Lakesider David Thompson was third up and saw his spotkick saved by Morris but Henry Jones who was next for Town also saw his kick saved by Atkinson keeping it to 2-2. Baio made it 3 and so did Molyneux to make it 3-3. Vieira and Horwood put their penalties away to make it 4-4 after five penalties meaning it was now sudden death. Neto and Spittle ensured it went to 5-5 followed by Leghissa and Mendes meaning it was 6-6. Ashley Morris superbly saved Cauterucci’s strike down to his left which meant that a Town penalty now would seal the tie. Defender Andy Burns stepped up and rocketed the ball home on his 50th appearance for the Lakesiders to book an away trip to Prestatyn Town in the Quarter Finals of the Nathaniel MG Cars League Cup.

Mr. 4-3-3 himself (that's right Chelsea fans, it's Sarri) has quickly recognised this fact and appears willing to persist with this new tactical change due to the fine performances of Ramsey. Yes, Douglas Costa's injury factored into Sarri's thinking, but the decision to stick with it was because of the new Welsh recruit's immediate impact on the team.

The Argentine, in particular, was at risk of going from one of the world's most prosperous talents, to one of the world's most overhyped players. And you're all probably wondering right about now where exactly this is all going. Following a hamstring injury suffered at the back end of last season, Ramsey spent pre-season continuing his rehabilitation and, as a result, he struggled to really make an impression. His early injury troubles, combined with his reportedly staggering wages, left fans growing increasingly worried over their club's new arrival.

Everything positive went through him, dictating play and setting the tempo for the rest of the team. In a fairly tame performance, Ramsey was the one constantly trying to test the opposition with his fluid movement and penetrating passes. Then, there was also the small matter of a debut goal to

Well, as has previously been explained, this would be the 4-3-12. Three midfielders provides a stability and heir of prowess in the middle of the park, while two strikers add greater potency at the top end of the pitch. Not to mention, it best suits the Old Lady squad.

Ramsey's style of play has brought the best out of his teammate, with the former providing the platform to allow Dybala to flourish.

And the best part? This new partnership is just beginning to blossom, and it will only improve as the season goes on - a very scary thought, especially when one of the greatest players to have ever lived is involved.

In Juve's last game, Ramsey retrieved the ball in his own box, before bursting forward and playing an inch-perfect pass into Dybala's stride.
