NODIADAU NIGEL’S NOTES Tonight’s Nathaniel League Cup fixture throws up a plethora of facts which all add to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the match.

It is a welcome return to Maes Tegid for Bangor City for the first time since their relegation from the WPL. Our visitors have just appointed a new Manager who has a distinguished pedigree in International football. The Bangor Club have undergone a recent change of ownership.

The visitors line up on the pitch is likely to be full of International players playing for their first season in Wales. All of which adds intrigue into a fixture which has always been extremely competitive on the field.

Bala will go into tonight's match on the back of 2 excellent JD Cymru Premier wins and confidence will be high after some excellent periods of dynamic football over those 2 fixtures.

However this confidence will be severely tested by a team with aspirations of a return to Premier League status and we will have to be at our very best to earn a Quarter Final spot away in Prestatyn.

We all return back to Maes Tegid this Saturday for the visit of Carmarthen for a 2.30pm kick off. I hope you can all be with us again.

The Lakesiders returned to winning ways in the Friday night football with former Seasider Chris Venables coming back to haunt his former club.

However, Bala could’ve seen themselves a goal down in the opening couple of minutes as Mendes headed wide from Phillips delivery and Ashley Morris forced to make a reaction save to push away another Mendes effort.

After the initial scares by the visitors, Town were starting to find their feet as Louis Robles fired into the side netting before Bala took the lead.

On 13 minutes, the move of the match came as Anthony Stephens unleashed a defence splitting throughball into the path of Henry Jones around 25 yards out. Jones pulled out a fantastic reversed pass to Venables who struck the ball into the net from the edge of the box.

Town grew in strength after taking the lead and should’ve added further to their tally but

were denied by Connor Roberts A second should’ve been added when Town had three who was superb in the successive efforts on target.

After Roberts denying Robles following a break down the right and then Smith putting the ball into the area which just missed the head of the incoming Mendes, Town saw a strong handball shout waved away.

NON LEAGUE PAPER We almost had to check the calendar last Saturday night. Yes, it is 2019, but here we still are reporting on alleged incidents of racism in Non-League football.

So often are we quick to jump on it when heard in other countries but time and again this horrible issue keeps rearing its head in England and Wales and it can’t be brushed off anymore.
