The Roller Coaster of JD Cymru Premier League football continues on its travels and especially around the ups and downs of Maes Tegid. Our last Home fixture finished in a 2-2 draw when in all probability we should have taken all 3 points. We then make a Tuesday evening trip to the formidable fortress of Park Hall to take on TNS without 6 first choice players being available. And history is created!!! Our first ever victory over the Champions on their own soil with an unbelievable finish to the match. It looked like a typical déjà vu match when TNS went ahead in the 88th minute against the run of play but then the impossible happened. We equalised in the 92nd minute and dramatically scored the winner in the 96th minute. It was a superb team performance and marks another special moment in the history of the Club. Without much of a break we then travel down to South Wales on Friday to play against League newcomers Llansawel Briton Ferry last Saturday. Confidence was high but our ability to turn that confidence into 3 points evaporated at the end of the first half when we conceded 2 goals in a 3 minute spell. The first was a highly controversial penalty award which on reflection after watching TV footage should never have been given. We rescued a point in the second half but were hit with a terrible injury to Alex Downes who had to go to hospital and will be unlikely to return to the pitch this season. This injury list is now a huge problem as we build up to this evening’s seriously tough encounter against Haverfordwest. The Roller Coaster never appears to want to stop!! Coaster never appears to want to stop!!
We will face our visitors tonight at Maes Tegid with the knowledge that they have had an excellent start to the season and it will be big test of our resources and our resolve if we are to come away with those coveted 3 points. It will certainly be an exciting encounter and one which we look forward to with excitement and anticipation of some excellent entertainment. Welcome to you all who have made the long journey, especially on a Friday evening.
We then travel to Flint next Saturday and follow that up with another evening at Maes Tegid when Connah’s Quay visit on Tuesday October 15th. It is relentless but it is a challenge which we all relish.
Just some quick thoughts on the proposed new League structure for 2026/27. I personally believe that the FAW have done an excellent job in their preparation and rationale for this decision. We had to make a change and this strikes a good balance for all concerned. It will however increase the travelling to South Wales and the possibility of Friday evening matches down south is extremely daunting but there are definite benefits as well to be taken into account. There is a lot of football to be played before then and we must focus on this before considering these changes in the future.
Please can I add my congratulations to Robert Foulkes Jones (Foxy) on his 80th birthday. A complete stalwart supporter of our Club for generations! Penblwydd Hapus Iawn Foxy oddiwrth pawb yn Faes Tegid.
Enjoy the evening with us. Diolch.
Nigel.

A.N. Richards Ltd The Garage, Froncysyllte Llangollen, LL20 7RA
Bala Town FC are hugely delighted that A.N. RICHARDS LTD have again continued their superb support and sponsorship of the Club. The continuation of our relationship with them is of huge significance to us all at Maes Tegid and we are delighted to have this well known North Wales company as our Players Shorts Sponsors for the whole of our 2024/25 campaign.
Bala Town Football Club can confirm the departure of Naim Arsan from Maes Tegid
Naim joined the Lakesiders in June 2022 after departing fellow JD Cymru Premier side Newtown.
The Welshman would go on to make 82 competitive appearances for the Town, while also scoring six goals from left back with the majority coming from free kicks. Naim would feature in two European campaigns and would help the Town capture the Nathaniel MG Cup in the 2022/23 season after beating Connah’s Quay Nomads on penalties.
Naim would be named Player’s Player of the season after the conclusion of the 2022/23 season and would then be awarded the Committee’s Player of the season in the 2023/24 season.
The 30 year old departs Maes Tegid as a fan favourite having been a brilliant player and an even greater person off the pitch who would give his time to supporters before and after games, and for mascots who he lead out to the pitch.
As Naim heads away from Maes Tegid in search of regular first team football, we would like to wish him well in all his future endeavours and there will always be a warm welcome waiting for him at Maes Tegid.
At today’s game, Bala Town Football Club will be promoting “Show Racism the Red Card Month of Action” in our fixture against Haverfordwest County, as both teams show their support for this very important cause. Both teams will wear “Show Racism the Red Card” t-shirts during the warm-up to promote an antiracism message and demonstrate their stance against racism in sports and society.
Show Racism the Red Card is a charity that aims to combat racism by empowering role models, including footballers, to present an anti-racist message to young people and others.
The charity acknowledges that racism changes, as do the experiences of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities in the UK. The message and activities, therefore, need to be able to respond to such changes as and when appropriate.
They achieve this through:
- Producing and delivering educational resources
- Developing activities to encourage people, including young people, to challenge racism -Challenging racism in the game of football and other sports.
During October, football clubs across Wales show their support for Show Racism the Red Card by delivering a match-day action demonstrating their stance on eradicating racism from the beautiful game. These actions act as a vehicle to deliver an anti-racism message to the community through the power of sport.
We hope you enjoy the game today. Please support the players in saying NO to racism. If you witness racism, report it to a steward or club official.
To donate to Show Racism the Red Card, visit theredcard.org or the Just Giving page.
Further details about the campaign and how you and your club can be part of the Month of Action can be found by visiting the website www.theredcard.org or by contacting: tom@redcardwales.org
