BLWYDDYN NEWYDD DDA I PAWB. Another end of year is upon us as we welcome our Gwynedd Cymru Premier rivals Clwb Peldroed Caernarfon to Maes Tegid for this hugely important New Years Eve fixture. I hope the early kick off time does not prevent the enthusiastic Cofi supporters from travelling to Bala this morning. It is certainly a crucial match for both teams as we desperately look to secure a top 6 position in this ever increasingly competitive league. I sincerely hope that you will all enjoy the entertainment on show this afternoon before enjoying the festivities of tonight! As always it has been a roller coaster year at Maes Tegid and as always it has been a significant challenge to keep us at the very top of Welsh Domestic football. The European qualification which we achieved in early April this year was a massive achievement. It was our 9th European adventure in the last 12 seasons and was testament to the huge work put in by everyone involved at our Club. We enjoyed a long and very expensive trip to Estonia in July and were cruelly robbed of a penalty shoot out opportunity by a 96th minute goal from our hosts. The euphoria of Europe then gave way to the reality of another Cymru Premier season and it certainly has been a challenging season to date. Injuries have plagued us! Quite incredibly we lost 2 players in 2 weeks to horrific injury which will see them out for at least 12 months. We have also faced a litany of other injuries which has severely disrupted our team planning and Colin has faced a serious challenge to produce consistent results. Nothing demonstrates this more than the achievement of Bala being the first team ever to do the League “Double” over Champions TNS yet have 10 draws in our League campaign and then crash out of the Welsh Cup to 2nd tier Caerau Ely. Roller Coaster or not???? Colin Caton will be in charge of his 869th match this afternoon as our Manager over a 22 year period. Quite a significant statistic in its own right and one which I doubt will ever be achieved again! I must also take this opportunity to express the Club’s sincere gratitude to all the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who are the backbone of this football Club. It is staggering how much work goes on behind the scenes and I can assure everyone that this work is ever increasing and the demands put upon us with little or no financial support are substantial. It will without a doubt reach breaking point for some Clubs before long and the rhetoric from the FAW must be quickly turned into action before it is too late!! 2025 will again be a serious challenge for our Club and we can be under no illusions about the difficulties which have to be faced. As always we will work tirelessly to maintain the amazing successes and standards which we have become accustomed to and nothing will deter us from trying to keep our Club at the very forefront of the JD Cymru Premier League. Bala Town FC are hugely grateful to Gwenno Davies and the FUW for their most generous sponsorship of this New Year’s Eve match this afternoon against Caernarfon. The FUW have been generously supporting our Club for many years and we are delighted that this relationship continues to flourish. We hope you all enjoy your afternoon at Maes Tegid. The platforms we post to are - X (Twitter), Facebook and Instagram, which have a combined following of 30k+. Every matchday we post the following graphics to each of our social media pages: Starting XI, Half-Time, Full-Time and a Goal Graphic for each player who scores.
