A very warm welcome back to Maes Tegid although at the time of writing it does not appear that it will be warm at all, just very wet and windy! I hope the forecast is wrong! Here we go again for yet another mid week fixture as we welcome Aberystwyth to Bala this evening for another crucial JD Cymru Premier League fixture. This is our 4th mid week match on the bounce and the strain on everyone has certainly began to tell!
Our unbeaten start to the season has been dramatically ended with back to back away defeats, firstly in our tame defence of the Nathaniel MG League Cup at Guilsfield last Tuesday and then a really disappointing visit to Barry Town last Saturday. There may have been excuses for the Guilsfield defeat but there certainly were not any for the failure to compete in Barry and there has to be significant improvement this evening to change our fortunes around and return to winning ways. It will as always be a fascinating encounter against our close rivals and we look forward with great anticipation to an enthralling match this evening. We then travel to Newtown this Saturday for another very tough match and then thankfully have 7 days off before the visit of Colwyn Bay to Maes Tegid on Saturday 7th October.
Our Academy has certainly had a tough time at the start of this season. We lost our “B” category classification following some organisational failures and then lost our Head Of Coaching who took up an opportunity with the FAW. We now unfortunately only have 4 teams playing in our Academy due to this somewhat disappointing and unreasonable restructure but we are delighted to have appointed Dan McNeil as our new Academy Director whose job it is to pick the pieces from the position we have found ourselves in and attempt to return it to its former glory. He has to do this without any FAW funding which has been arbitrarily stripped away from us following the re-classification. It is a most difficult job but the Club is fully behind Dan and his team to ensure he gets all the support he needs to enable the Academy to grow and develop all our youngsters in the area. We warmly welcome Dan to Maes Tegid.
As always we thank each and everyone who is attending this evening’s match for your much needed support.
Diolch, Nigel.

This past Sunday (24th of September) would see our Development Team, U16’s, U14’s and U13’s take to the pitch for their third game of their league seasons.
Our Development side would come from behind to snatch a point against Aberystwyth Town’s Development Team, as goals from Alex Nash in the 68th minute and a 98th minute equaliser from Joise Fernandes would secure a valuable point for our Development side. A huge well done to all! Next up for our Development side will be away to Colwyn Bay Development Team on October 1st.
Meanwhile, our U16’s side would host Wrexham AFC Academy U16’s at Maes Tegid, but would unfortunately fall to a 3-1 defeat following three first half goals from the visitors. Our U16’s will go again on the 1st of October as they travel to face Colwyn Bay Academy U16’s.
Our U14’s side would travel to face their league leader in Wrexham AFC Academy U14’s, and would unfortunately face a 5-0 defeat at the current table toppers after four games played. Our U14’s wil l now face the FAW Girls Academy North U17’s in their next match on October 1st at Maes Tegid.
A point was earned by our U13’s side in their match against Aberystwyth Town Academy U13’s as two goals from Isaac Williams would secure another point for our U1 3’s after three draws to start their season. Next up for our U13’s side will be Connah’s Quay Nomads U13’s at Maes Tegid on October 8th.
We would like to wish all of our Academy players the best of luck in their upcoming fixtures, pob lwc i chi gyd!

Bala Town Football Club are supporting the ‘Football Association of Wales Fair Play Week’ which will run from Friday the 22nd of September to Sunday 1st of October and reinforces the importance of mutual respect on and off the pitch and encourages a reduction in on-field misconduct.
The ‘FAW Fair Play’ Code promotes the important message of ‘Fair Play’ throughout Welsh football, which aims to inspire Players, Clubs, Match Officials and Supporters to maintain good on-field discipline by abiding by the Laws of the Game, in addition to respecting all members of the Welsh Football Family.
To further encourage respectful behaviour that aligns to the ‘FAW Fair Play’ Code, the FAW incentivises and rewards clubs who are taking a proactive role in reducing on-field misconduct. To achieve this, each month, the FAW publishes National Leagues Fair Play Tables and the Clubs who top their respective Fair Play table at the end of the season are awarded a Fair Play Award and a prize of £1000 that is available to be spent on improving their Club.
Bala Town Football Club will be commemorating the ‘FAW Fair Play’ week by displaying ‘FAW Fair Play’ pennants at the Aberystwyth Town match at Maes Tegid on Wednesday 27th of September.
The FAW’s Disciplinary Manager, Margaret Barnett said: “The FAW’s Fair Play Campaign Week is important to further promote the Fair Play message and to remind everyone involved in football, whether that is the Players, Match Officials, Coaches or Supporters, the importance of being respectful to one another. At the FAW we are incredibly grateful to our Clubs and individuals for supporting this campaign across previous seasons.”

Despite our 3-1 defeat away to Barry Town this past Saturday, a positive point was three of our new summer arrivals, as Josh Ukek, Ryan Rogers and Theo Knight would make their JD Cymru Premier debut for the Lakesiders.
Ukek would come on with half an hour plus stoppage time remaining, and would make a big impact after just ten minutes of being on the pitch, as he clawed a goal back while 2-0 down to get the Town momentarily back in the game, before the hosts would regain their two goals lead.
Ryan Rogers would replace Joe Malkin in the 77th minute, with Theo Knight replacing Paulo Mendes in stoppage time as both players also made their JD Cymru Premier debut.
Although a disappointing result away at Barry, it was great to see Josh, Ryan and Theo make their league debuts and we look forward to what they can bring to the team.
