NADOLIG LLAWEN PAWB!! Maes Tegid gives you a very warm welcome back for our last home fixture before Christmas and wishes you all a very happy festive period. Our last Home League fixture against Caernarfon ended with a slightly disappointing draw but since then we have travelled far afield and been rewarded with 2 excellent wins. The League fixture performance away in Penybont was superb when we rattled in 2 early goals and then controlled the remainder of the match to restrict the Home side to very limited opportunities. It was an excellent example of match management and the 3 points secured there will be a massive help in our target of a top 6 finish with only 4 matches remaining before the split. We then returned to Cardiff last Saturday for a crucial last 16 tie in the prestigious Welsh Cup at Caerau Ely. The match was in serious doubt right up to kick off time with waterlogging being the major problem. However the correct decision was made and the game went ahead with a howling gale blowing straight down the pitch. This was always going to make it a game of 2 halves and this was certainly the outcome. We had the gale behind us in the first half and its strength was clearly demonstrated by our goalkeeper Kelland Absalom scoring with a huge boot from his own penalty area which sailed over the stunned keeper at the other end! 3 more goals were added before halftime but the 4-0 lead was by no means game over. The team however once again managed the conditions and the match superbly allowing the home side to only strike once in the half and themselves missing several good opportunities to extend the lead. A great result and we are into the Quarter Final draw! The match this afternoon will be crucial again to our chances of remaining in the top 6. It will be a huge test against the visitors today who lie one place above us in the League. Surely a win for either side would almost guarantee the target would be achieved and the match will hopefully live up to the anticipated entertainment of the build up. Our Boxing Day fixture sees us trave l to Colwyn Bay for a 2.30pm kick off and then we complete 2023 with a Home fixture against Newtown on Saturday December 30th again with a 2.30 pm kick off at Maes Tegid. U13’s – Dexter Schofield ‘Dex’ has been brilliant this month both on the pitch and training field. With a number of defender currently out injured at the moment, Dexter has really stepped up and taken responsibility and his match day performances have been excellent. In training, he’s always eager to learn and improve taking instructions on board and demanding from his team mates. Well done Dex!
U14’s – Erin Levenov Throughout a month of challenging fixtures, Erin has been outstanding in all, showing his importance to the U14’s group. Since signing, Erin has gone from strength to strength. His technical ability along with desire to be ‘hard to beat’ and win all his individual battles is exactly what we expect a Bala Town player to look like. Erin has shown fantastic commitment and loyalty to Bala Town since signing along with excellent attendance. We are very proud of his development to date and his fantastic month of performances.
U16’s – Noah Roberts Noah has been another one of our younger players who has stepped up brilliantly this year. His composure on the ball, his commitment to defending and his unrivalled desire to learn and improve have all been shown during this month. Well done Noah! We wish him all the best in his recovery, from all at Bala Town!
U19’s – Tom Hughes For the second month running, Tom has been a standout player for the U19’s. Tom has enjoyed a month gaining invaluable experience training with our first team as well as U19’s. For a first year U19, Tom has shows excellent maturity and professionalism. Once again, his attendance has been perfect along with equally impressive performances. We are very proud to call Tom a Bala Town player, as he is a perfect all round example as to what we expect a Bala Town player to look like. Keep up the hard work Tommy!
