As we commemorate 118 years since the founding of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the 50th anniversary of the chartering of our chapter, Kappa Omega Omega, we are proud to present eight exceptional students to the community who embody the values of "Empowering Poise and Inspiring Excellence"


Miss Fashionetta® has been a hallmark program of Kappa Omega Omega for thirtyeight years Throughout this time, our sorority members have taken great pride in the young ladies who have participated, witnessing their transformation into poised individuals with aspirations that propel them toward their future educational endeavors. This year, we are equally delighted to include four dynamic young men who have embraced the mentorship and scholarship fundraising opportunities presented to them.
In collaboration with the Bakersfield Ivy Legacy Foundation, we are honored to have mentored this remarkable group of students, who have impressed us with their creativity, innovation, and commitment to staying engaged in this 26th edition of the program

On behalf of the Bakersfield Ivy Legacy Foundation (The Foundation), welcome to the 26th presentation of Miss Fashionetta! A tremendous program that affords hard working young women the opportunity to grow personally and socially as well as earn a scholarship. This year’s presentation we are thrilled to welcome back the participation of young men to be featured as The Gents.
The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Omega Omega Chapter. We serve to leverage the fundraising ability of this chapter which seeks to enrich the educational and leadership development of our community Your financial contributions to the Miss Fashionetta program make you an important part of helping us give scholarships and build young leaders in our community Thank you!
The participants and their families have worked hard as they have participated in this program over the last 4 months
Empowered poise and inspiring excellence, these young scholars are prized for their intelligence, great spirit, loving and willing attitudes and grace Over the course of the program, they have attended etiquette workshops, a session on vision boards and developed an actual business plan. They have also attended a worship service and have participated in community service projects. As a result of their total involvement and dedication to the program goals and objectives, our Miss Fashionetta participants are ready to meet the challenges that await them.

It has been a true honor to serve as chairwoman of this remarkable program walking alongside, guiding, and encouraging the growth of these talented young people. Our journey began last fall with purposeful workshops focused on vision boards, goal setting, self-esteem, and self-care, culminating in our economic wealth and entrepreneurship challenge Along the way, we served our community together and shared meaningful cultural experiences, including the inspiring Hot Chocolate Nutcracker by the legendary Debbie Allen

Today, she serves as a national leader and facilitator with the National Center on Education and the Economy, partnering with districts across the country to strengthen educational systems andadvanceequity-drivenoutcomes.

Whitley Robinson is a media executive, host, and life coach serving as CEO of Myrie Media. A proud alumna of the University of California, Riverside, where she earned her BA, and Azusa Pacific University, where she completed her MA, she brings academic grounding and marketplace insight to her work.
Through innovative storytelling, strategic communications, and transformative programming, she helps leaders and organizations expand their influence and walk confidently in their calling Though not Greek affiliated, she is a respected partner and supporter of the Divine Nine and maintains close relationships across those networks Based in Bakersfield, she resides with her husband, Edward S Robinson, while leading initiatives that bridge media, faith, and community impact

Chei Whitmore is currently the President with Valley Strong Credit U has a bachelor’s degree in administration with an emphasis on Management, and graduated Magna Cum Laude She has been in the financial industry for over 30 years with her organization working in lending and management
In her current role, she is responsible for all Valley Strong branch locations in Kern County, which include those in Tehachapi, Delano, Bakersfield, and all High School branches Chei was the recipient of the Distinguished Businesswoman of the Year award in 2015, has served on the Board of Directors for The Kegley Institute of Ethic at CSUB in the past and is currently a board member for the CAPK Foundation and the chairperson for the Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce.

She is married to Donald, and they enjoy traveling together She has two adult children, Kei, and Jalyn, and three granddaughters, Kendal, Kamryn and Kori Chei is a recent 2021 breast cancer survivor and through her journey she learned to embrace change, live life to the fullest and allow herself to be human!

Dr. Tunson is an executive consultant specializing in police organizational management, cultural diversity competence, organizational leadership, community partnership strategies, financial analysis, and police reform
Professor Tunson has more than 24-years teaching experiences at Bakersfield College, University of Phoenix, San Diego State University, Santa Ana College, and California Southern University

Chief Tunson is a retired California Chief of Police, with more than 34 years of law enforcement experience He is a graduate of the Riverside County Sheriff’s academy, California Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) executive management leadership Enforcement minar (LEEDS)

Lieutenant Colonel Tunson is a retired US Army officer with more than 33 years of service and a Desert Shield/Storm veteran He is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College, US Army’s Infantry Officer Candidate School, and Military Police Officer Advance course
