Horner Automation Group releases innovative NEW products

Horner Automation Group are global leaders in automation control solutions with over 30 years of automation experience providing all-in-one controllers with cloud computing functionality, offering solutions for industrial processes on a global scale since 1986.

Since its inception, Horner Automation Group has enabled its clients to save time and money by offering cost effective solutions and ensuring meaningful data that help boost productivity. Horner Automation Europe is part of the world-wide Horner Electric Group that was founded in 1949, and have been designing PLCs, Communication Products, HMIs and their related products since the early ’80s.

Based in Cork, Ireland, Horner Ireland Limited is the European Headquarters of the Group and was founded in 1997. Promoting an ethos that is to design and manufacture innovative products that are extremely easy to use and provide significant value to its customers, Horner Ireland Limited pride themselves on being the industry leading provider of all-in-one controllers. From Cork, they provide full support for European customers and distributors including European Logistics, Manufacturing, Product Design and Development, Custom Product Development, and Technical Support for their range of Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces that are widely used across industry.

In this article we are going to spotlight some of its most popular products, starting with its range of OCS controllers. Horner has combined a controller, operator interface, I/O, and networking into a single unit OCS (Operator Control Station.) This station ultimately provides a better control system solution for original equipment manufacturers, integrators and end-users.

More often than not, all-in-one controllers are the popular choice because of their ease-of-use, cost savings, and flexibility. Since 1998, OCS has been used in various industrial controls and automation applications including Power Management and Backup Generation, Water Treatment, Compressor Control, Custom OEM products, Automotive Parts Manufacturing, Mobile Machinery, Renewable Energy, Packaging Machinery, and so much more.

OCS has a vast range of local and remote I/O systems and communication abilities that range from integrated fieldbus, ethernet, cell and phone modems, serial ports and protocols along with mass data storage capabilities that are tightly integrated and easy to use.

Another product range designed to elevate your industrial automation operations are the Canvas Series PLC HMI Controllers. These are perfect if you’re looking to streamline control in your setup as it includes innovative features that make Canvas Series Controllers a powerful choice for seamless, intuitive control.

The benefits of Horner’s latest all-in-one controllers are endless, and include three main features. Firstly, it incorporates enhanced graphics – the best Horner has ever offered! These include alarms, recipes, and trends that have all be redesigned from the ground up.

Secondly, it features a Dual Core Microprocessor which means when you take advantage of the new graphics you get one dedicated core for Graphics, and one dedicated core for Logic, resulting in faster and more consistent scan times. Thirdly, Canvas has built-in IIOT Protocols which include MQTT Sparkplug, as well as Remote Visualisation with WebMI.

Canvas will initially be available in five different colour touchscreen sizes ranging from 3.5” to 10.1” diagonal. Further highlights include the Canvas 5, featuring a 4.3” colour touchscreen and 12” built-in I/O points. The Canvas 10D also features a 10.1” colour touchscreen and five builtin I/O options ranging from 22-42 points of I/O. All Canvas models include a microSD slot, USB for programming, FLASH drive support, RS232/485, CAN for I/O expansion and CANopen support, and Ethernet port(s) supporting multiple Industrial Ethernet protocols.

Cscape 10

All OCS applications are developed with a powerful and secure programming package called Cscape . Cscape is used by automation professionals to configure every aspect of their OCS controlled machine control applications, and includes logic development using Ladder Logic and other IEC61131 languages, screen development, user interface design, network communications, I/O configuration, into an all-in-one software package. Cscape and OCS were the first to perform all these functions in a unified control platform using a single software development package in their initial version in the late 1990s.

Cscape™ 10 software is the latest release from The Horner Automation Group and continues the legacy of innovative, powerful yet easy-touse software that has continued to be provided completely FREE for more than 25 years.

The highly-anticipated Cscape 10 features a redesigned user interface and among its dozens of improvements, also includes the newly developed Advanced Graphics Engine. As mentioned earlier on in this focus piece, the Advanced Graphics Engine supports several graphic building blocks for user interface design that have been reimagined from the ground-up. These include (but are not limited to) Trend, XY Graph and Scatter Graph objects, a Recipe object, Alarm objects, and a Video playback object.

It also incorporates additional features such as gesture and keyboard/mouse support, improved download speeds, and further updated objects across the board including buttons, indicators, data fields, and switches.
