Medical Technology UK 2024 review

Medical Technology UK 2024 was back at the award-winning Coventry Building Society Arena from the 13th-14th March 2024, for a dedicated event uniting the design, development and production of leading medical devices such as dental, IVDs and healthcare equipment.

The UK’s medical device manufacturing industry is a growth sector, poised for more investment and is currently listed as the third largest in Europe.

Esteemed guests like Prof. Tony Young, National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England kicked off a chaired conference session on ‘The Future of Medical Technology Innovation’ with a distinguished panel including: Elspeth Bailey: Policy Advisor, Office for Life Sciences. The Women in MedTech Forum was well-attended and featured renowned speakers like Bal Johal, R&D Director at Owen Mumford and was chaired by Dr. Helen Meese, CEO and Founder of the Care Machine.

The two-day Learning Programme provided much food for thought through its coverage of hot topics such as: Enhancing sustainability in MedTech: empowering OEMs and the supply chain and AI in medical devices: benefits, risks & practical considerations.

With over 130 specialist suppliers at the two-day event, exhibitors were given the opportunity to showcase disruptive innovations and services to an engaged audience. This is the UK’s only event primarily focused on the design, research, engineering and advancement of medical devices and received glowing testimonials from exhibitors this year, “We’ve taken a very good number of exciting leads each day and met new potential customers which we hope will convert into new business. We’ve also booked two demos during the Show for next week at new customer sites.” EXHIBITOR – Jamie Greatrix, UK Sales Manager, Ash Technologies

“Taken some strong UK-based leads from potential new customers, which is traditionally quite tricky to do including leads from universities on both days.” EXHIBITOR – James Billingsley, Technical Sales Engineer, Mechtech Automation Group

“We’ve taken a really good number of quality leads which has exceeded our expectations. We’ll be back next year.” EXHIBITOR – Dave Boylan, Area Sales Manager, Innovative Sensor Technology.

The Exhibitor Showcases looked at a wide range of topics including: Production Innovation in Medical Devices – a device perspective, Medical Device Package Quality – How to Reduce Cost of Quality and Improve Patient Safety with Modern Package Quality Testing, Digital Transformation – Creating a Best-inClass Digital Eco-System, Advancements in touch screen firmware and The Advantages of Silicone Valves and the Applications for Medical Devices.
