Who are We?

Welcome to the 2016 Western Regional Tapestry Conference! Dear Champions of Children,

The Bair Foundation is a national nonprofit child & family ministry that has successfully cared and treated children, teens and families since 1967. The Bair Foundation operates in 32 offices located in 9 states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. The Bair Foundation offers a myriad of community-based services which include: Therapeutic Foster Care, Traditional Foster Care, Adoption Services, Medically-Needy Foster Care, Independent Living Services, B.E.S.T. Program, Wraparound Services, Intensive In-Home & Clinical Services, Assessment Home, and Outpatient Services. The Bair Foundation is accredited by COA (Council on Accreditation) and is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, Alliance for Children & Families, Christian Alliance for Orphans, and the Foster Family-based Treatment Association.

Slippery Rock University, founded in 1889, is the region’s premier public residential university. The University is shaped by its normal school heritage and characterized by its commitment to intellectual development, leadership and civic responsibility. SRU provides students with a comprehensive learning experience that intentionally combines academic instruction with enhanced educational learning opportunities that will help them succeed in their lives, professional careers and be engaged citizens. The undergraduate program in social work awards a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting agency for social work. The baccalaureate program in social work prepares students for generalist social work practice. As beginning professional social workers, graduates typically work in the areas of child welfare, juvenile and adult corrections, public assistance, health and mental health, aging, domestic violence, chemical dependency, among others.

It is hard to believe that we are now entering the 5th year of the Western Regional Tapestry Conference ~ Where Each Piece is Essential. The Bair Foundation is honored to bring this collaboration to you each and every year. As we join together over the next two days, I encourage you to network with one another and learn how we can be woven tightly together to serve the children and families in our communities. Each of us have our own specialties and gifts to care for this vulnerable population. When woven together, we are able to provide a safety net for those we serve. I hope over the next two days you walk away refreshed and empowered to make a difference. Whether it is the trauma informed care, ethics, leadership, or clinical understanding that brought you to this event, we are confident that you will receive quality information through the process. If you see a presenter outside of the training, please take a moment to say “thank you” as they have donated all of their time and resources to ensure this training is free of registration fees. Additionally, please thank our exhibitors as you visit their tables. Their participation over these two days has funded the use of this amazing facility and morning coffee bar, not to mention the beautiful basket giveaways that will occur at the end of the conference. A shout out to Slippery Rock University’s Social Work Program for providing the CEU’s for licensed social workers. A very special thank you goes out to our lunch sponsors who provided a delicious meal for you each day. Without the special donations of agencies like yours and the generosity of those listed, we would not be able to ensure the conference remain free of charge. This is vitally important to us as we want entry level caseworkers, foster/ adoptive parents and all levels of leadership to attend. Last, but most certainly not least, thank you to the amazing family we have here at The Bair Foundation. They spend countless volunteer hours to make this conference possible. They work hard to ensure that every little detail is taken care of, from the centerpieces to the presenter gifts, and the amazing door prizes. They fund raise for months prior to the event to bring you these special touches. It is a blessing to have everyone make this possible each year. Now presenting, Tapestry 2016. I hope it is all you expected and more!

ENJOY!

About Our Key Note Speaker Diego Fuller

M

ost teenagers remember the day they got their license, or their sweet 16, or even prom night. For Diego the most prominent day he remembers is In 2002, when Diego showed up on Pastor’s Aaron Blake Steps. At that moment in time with all of Diego emotions sky high, Blake stopped Diego at the door and told him to lose any Foster Care Mentality that he has. He went on to tell him, “You are not a Foster Child; you are “Engrafted” into my family. A lesson taught but not learned until almost 10 years later when Diego was 24 years old living out what it means to be “Engrafted”.

Diego Fuller

In 2014 Diego released his Second studio album titled “ENGRAFTED”. That’s now Ranked #1 Album Locally on Reverbnation, #22 in the Nation, and also #25 around the Globe, and was nominated as Artist and best song of the Year. Diego released his Engrafted Music Video July 2015, and the Video and song has aired across the world on multiple Radios Stations and different sites such as www.familylifetoday.com, www.cafo.org, and more. As of now Diego the Founder & President of B.I.G Records & Foundation, and Aaron Blake Founder of Harvest Family Life & The Keep, has joined forces and are now traveling the country Empowering the Local church to create a culture of families prepared to accept the calling of Orphan Care. Diego truly believes that if the Church could get involved with the state and help take on Foster and Adopting the fatherless, we can save a child and change their destiny, just as Bishop Aaron Blake done with 6 foster boys including Diego himself.

Innovative Solutions. Better Health.

Proud to support The Bair Foundation in building strong children, strong families and strong communities. Dedicated to promoting recovery by managing and coordinating supports and services for HealthChoices members in 13 western Pennsylvania counties.

S.O.S Creed Stamp Out Stigma At Value Behavioral health of Pennsylvania, we understand the importance of recognizing the high prevalence of mental illness. We also know that when recognition is coupled with reeducation and acceptance, health-seeking action can be taken. These actions lead to recovery, which is achievable for everyone. Each of the Three R’s (recognize, reeducate and reduce) depend on each other to effectively Stamp Out Stigma (SOS) surrounding mental illness. This is what we, as a company and as individuals, charge ourselves to do - to completely Stamp Out Stigma and clear the path to health-seeking behavior. It begins with us.
