Airborne Adventures

New Zealanders are known for chasing adrenaline in all its forms - no surprise from the country that invented commercial bungy jumping. In Taupō, the nation’s adventure capital, thrill-seekers can sample every airborne pursuit imaginable, from skydiving and gliding to heart-racing swings and leaps over turquoise waters.

Bungy Jumping

The extreme sport of bungy jumping originated in New Zealand in 1988. At Taupō, adventurers leap 150-feet from a platform over the Waikato River, upstream from Huka Falls. The colour of the water alone is enough to inspire you to take the plunge. At 47 metres, its the nation's highest water-touch bungy.

The minimum weight for all jumps is 45kg. Tandem jumps, photos and videos available.

Taupo Swing

Experience the fun and thrills of the Taupō Swing – an exhilarating, epic-sized swing over the mighty Waikato River. Offering a feet-first alternative to a bungy jump with all the excitement of freefall, soar through the air at speeds up to 70kph. Enjoy the ride solo or tandem.

Tandem Skydiving

For thrill–seekers also keen for a view, skydiving in New Zealand is hard to beat. Lake Taupō has the largest commercial drop zone in the world and stunning views of volcanoes, forests, and lake itself. High-fliers exit the plane up to 15,000 feet, followed by over one minute in free-fall.

Weather permitting. A weight limit of 100kg applies for tandem passengers.

Gliding

Gliding is an exhilarating sport that utilises ‘lift’ sources generously provided by nature and Taupō is blessed with excellent conditions offering high altitude, long distance and long duration flights. Once released from tow at approx. 5000ft and after some instruction, there’s opportunity to take the controls and fly the glider directly.

A maximum weight limit of 100kg applies for this activity.
