Location
Set high on the Andean Plateau, the Atacama Desert is an ethereal wilderness shaped by altitude, silence and endless horizons. Tierra Atacama sits at 7,900ft (2,407m) above sea level, on the outskirts of the oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama and surrounded by nearly 50,000 square miles (80,000 sq km) of otherworldly terrain often likened to the moon. Framing the distance are the Andes and Domeyko mountain ranges, while the sacred Licancabur Volcano - rising 19,420ft (5,919m) - stands as a striking landmark visible from every corner of the lodge.
Climate
Chile’s Atacama Desert is defined by dramatic contrasts. Days are typically warm, bright and cloudless, while nights bring a marked drop in temperature and refreshingly cool air. Rainfall is rare, though occasional showers can occur between January and April during the so-called Altiplano winter, when warm, moisture-laden air from the Amazon brings afternoon thunderstorms to the region.

Getting Here
Tierra Atacama is situated on the edge of San Pedro de Atacama, a small village in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. Regular two-hour flights operate between Santiago and Calama and the lodge offers complimentary road transfers from Calama Airport to the lodge, taking around one hour. More details »

Tierra Atacama’s twenty-eight rooms are thoughtfully designed to blend into the desert landscape, with expansive windows capturing endless blue skies, tranquil gardens and sweeping views of the Andes. Inside, generous spaces feature king or twin beds, contemporary lounge furnishings and private terraces that invite moments of quiet contemplation. Luxurious ensuites include open-air showers, offering the chance to bathe beneath the desert’s brilliant canopy of stars.
Other features include a complimentary in-room bar with tea and coffee provisions, climate control, wireless internet, safe and telephone. Bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and backpacks are provided along with daily housekeeping and signature evening turndown service.
Oriente Room
Designed as a serene desert refuge, the east-facing Oriente Room blends earthy textures with dramatic views of Licancabur Volcano. Handwoven textiles, Atacameño blankets and travertine accents echo local heritage, while a canopy bed with flexible king or twin configuration and terrace fireplace inspire deep relaxation. Indoor and open-air showers and seamless indooroutdoor living invite guests to bask in sunlight by day and bathe beneath the stars by night.
Poniente Room
Minimalist design and desert-inspired details shape the Poniente Room’s calming ambience. Sunlight pours through a tall, east-facing picture window, illuminating handcrafted furnishings and framing views of Licancabur Volcano enjoyed from the comfort of a king or twin bed. A private terrace overlooks the gardens and the Cordillera de Sal, perfect for basking in the afternoon glow. Inside, a marble ensuite and open-air shower offer a luxurious end to each day’s adventures.
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 11am. Where possible, flexibility with early check-in and late checkout will be provided, in the meantime guests are welcome to enjoy the lodge’s guest spaces including the restaurant and lounge areas.

Designed for families or groups, the twolevel Apartment offers generous space and desert views at every turn. Lounge & Bar
Blending open-air ease with refined comfort, the lounge and bar invite guests to unwind with a drink as Licancabur Volcano silhouettes the horizon. Inside, handcrafted furnishings and a cosy fireplace set a calming mood. Outside, the terrace becomes the perfect perch to watch the desert blush pink beneath the setting sun.
Adventure Hub
An inspiring gathering place, the Adventure Hub is where journeys begin. Guests gather with expert guides to chart daily explorations beneath a beautifully illustrated regional map, surrounded by shelves of books, maps and collected curios - rocks, fossils and artefacts that echo the desert’s ancient stories and inspire every expedition.
Terrace & Pool
Framing vast desert horizons, the terrace and pool provide a calm oasis throughout the day. Sunlit loungers, cooling waters and open skies invite unhurried relaxation. At sunset, the desert shifts to warm hues, transforming the space into a peaceful vantage point for watching the light soften across the Atacama.
Uma Spa
Named for the Aymara word for water, Uma Spa is a calming oasis in the vast Atacama Desert. Tranquil indoor-outdoor spaces frame views of Licancabur Volcano, while steam, stone and sunlight shape a soothing atmosphere. Facilities include three treatment rooms, heated and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, gym, yoga studio and a serene relaxation lounge.

Access
Tierra Atacama is situated on the edge of San Pedro de Atacama, a small village in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile.
Scheduled Flights International Connections
LATAM, Jetsmart and Sky operate regular daily two-hour flights between Santiago and Calama. It’s best to plan arrival at Calama Airport between 10am and 5pm. Chartering a private plane to Calama Airport is another option. Tierra Atacama Reservations can assist with bookings on request.
Airport Transfers
Santiago is well connected internationally, with daily flights from major European carriers and frequent services from key North American cities operated by Delta, American Airlines, United, Air Canada and LATAM. Travellers from Australia benefit from direct routes with Qantas and LATAM, while those arriving from Asia typically connect via New Zealand, Australia or the United States.
Tierra Atacama offers complimentary return transfers shared with others guests between Calama Airport and the lodge, taking approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.
Private Airport Transfers
Private airport transfers to and from Calama Airport (or for transfers outside the scheduled times) can be arranged for an additional cost.

Policies
Payment Policy
A 30% deposit is required within seven days of booking. The balance must be paid in full 30 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy
As Tierra Atacama is situated in a remote destination, we have a strict cancellation policy. We recommend guests have a travel insurance policy covering medical care and cancellation due to any reason.
• Cancellations made 91 days or more prior to arrival incur no charge.
• Cancellations made within 90 days of arrival incur a fee of 20% of the total booking value.
• Cancellations made within 60 days of arrival incur a fee of 30% of the total booking value.
• Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival incur a fee of 100% of the total booking value.
Minimum Stay
A minimum three-night stay applies to all bookings. A minimum five-night stay applies between 20 December to 1 January inclusive.
Child Policy
Tierra Atacama welcomes children aged ten years and over.
Group Policy
