NEW APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Investing in leadership, staff development and succession planning is crucial to the growth and development of CBE schools. As our senior leaders retire or are deployed into new roles, transition of leadership is a priority. Our educators and staff are our most important resource They play a key role in ensuring that every CBE student is empowered to reach their full potential. CBE is committed to supporting, developing, and sustaining leaders in all our schools.

The Catholic Board of Education is proud to announce four promotions, one transfer and the hiring of a new employee.

PROMOTIONS

We congratulate the following staff members on their promotions.

Tiffany Glass has been appointed as Curriculum Officer effective August 2024. Ms. Glass has served in Catholic Education for 28 years. She holds an Associate of Education, College of The Bahamas and graduated from the University of Greensboro, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Tiffany completed her Master of Science in Education at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University.

Ms. Glass began her career in Catholic education as a teacher at her beloved Sts. Francis & Joseph School (4 years). She was promoted to Vice Principal, Our Lady’s School (6 years). In 2006, she was promoted to Principal of St. Cecilia’s School (9 years). Ms. Glass returned to Sts. Francis & Joseph School as Principal (9 years). Being a civic minded Toastmaster and Pilot, she served as Governor for The Bahamas District Pilot International in 2020-2021. Ms. Glass is an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Deidre Cooper has been appointed Principal of Xavier’s Lower School effective August 2024. Ms. Cooper is a veteran educator with over 20 years experience in Catholic Education. She graduated from the College of The Bahamas with a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education with a Certification in Special Education and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus with a Master of Education in Educational Administration

Ms. Cooper began her career as a substitute teacher at Xavier’s Lower School. She then progressed into full time teaching on the same grounds on which she received her formal education, Sts. Francis & Joseph School. Ms. Cooper was then transferred to St. Thomas More School where she spent seven years as a Math Teacher and Math Specialist. Ms. Cooper was then assigned to the role of Math Coordinator, shortly after this “lifelong Shocker” was promoted to the position of Vice Principal, Sts. Francis & Joseph School. She is a member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.

Marthanece Bullard has been appointed Vice-Principal of Sts. Francis & Joseph School effective August 2024 Under the guidance of Fr. Martin Gomes and Fr. Simeon Roberts, whom she worked for as a secretary for seven years, Ms. Bullard learned much about being a Servant Leader. Ms. Bullard is a veteran teacher of 21 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in English Writing from Loyola University, New Orleans.

Upon returning to The Bahamas, she began her career in teaching at Sts. Francis and Joseph School (SFJ) as a computer teacher and Librarian. After four years she was assigned as Team Leader for the Information Technology teachers in the Catholic Primary system, a post she still holds today. After serving twelve years at SFJ she was transferred to Xavier’s Lower School as the Computer Teacher. Ms Bullard is expected to complete her Master of Science in Educational Leadership at Barry University in 2024. Ms. Bullard is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish.

Teresine Minnis has been appointed Vice-Principal of St. Cecilia’s School effective August 2024. Ms. Minnis has served in Catholic Education for the past 19 years. She began her career as a Bursar at St. Cecilia’s School which fostered her love for education and the classroom. This pushed her to change her concentration to Math Education. She has a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education, Pure and Applied Mathematics, from The College of The Bahamas. Ms. Minnis holds a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida.

Upon graduation, she entered the halls of Aquinas College and made Aces land her home where she shared her love and excitement for mathematics with her students for thirteen years. Currently, Ms. Minnis serves as Senior Mistress at Aquinas College Ms. Minnis is a Ministry certified youth leader for the Catholic Archdiocese. She is a member of Our Lady’s of the Holy Souls Church.

TRANSFERS

Jacintha Goffe will be transferred from Xavier’s Lower School where she has held the position of principal for the past nine years. We thank Ms. Goffe for her service at Xavier’s Lower School.

Jacintha Goffe has been appointed Principal of Sts. Francis & Joseph School effective August 2024 Mrs. Goffe’s deep dedication to education is evident in her more that 32 years of service to Catholic Education. She is committed to helping to educate our nation’s children, helping them to become all that God is calling them to be. Mrs. Goffe graduated from The College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA with a Master of Arts in Elementary Administration.

Mrs. Goffe began her educational career, before matriculating to university, as a Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant at Xavier’s Lower School. Upon her return home from college, she assumed the role of elementary teacher at Sts. Francis & Joseph School. Soon after she was promoted to Vice Principal, Sts. Francis Joseph School. She was promoted to Principal in 2000 serving in that capacity at St. Bede’s Catholic School (2000 – 2002), Sts. Francis & Joseph School (2002 – 2015) and most recently Xavier’s Lower School (2015 – present). Mrs Goffe is a member of Holy Family Church.

NEW HIRE

The Catholic Board of Education welcomes Deacon Demeritte to The Bahamas Catholic Board of Education team.

Deacon Ricardo Demerittejoins the CBE team as Facilities Manager effective3 June 2024. Deacon Demeritte was ordained as a Permanent Deacon on 9 June 2015 and is proud of the fact that he is one of two Deacons from his class to be assigned back to his home Parish, St. Anselm’s, where he spent his entire life. All of Deacon’s Sacraments were received at his beloved St. Anselm’s, except that of Ordination. He is graced within his life to have received all seven Sacraments of the Church. He attained the title of Certified Manager from The College of the Bahamas, through James Madison University. Deacon has served in various management positions over the past 24 years. He is excited to follow God’s calling which he feels at this time is leading him to play his part in the development of Catholic education in The Bahamas Deacon is a strong believer that all positions in Catholic education are vocations not jobs, as they influence the lives of young people and make a difference in our world.

We wish these CBE leaders well and are excited to support them in their new roles. We thank all CBE administrators, teachers and staff for their continued dedication to Catholic Education.
