Greetings, The DC Dinner Dance was held last week at the Laurel Race Track, and was a great success, with many members and their families attending the event, well into midnight. The food was even better than last year and the open bar was steadily pouring out good cheer. You might see your picture in the pages ahead or via the online link. Next year we’ll have even more prizes; tools, gift cards, and a big screen TV. Reservations have been made for Saturday, September 25, 2027 and we look forward to having you and your family there.

The Local Meeting will be held on November 7, 2026 at 8 a.m. at the International Masonry Institute – 17101 Science Drive, Bowie, MD 20715. Health and Pension Fund representatives from Beacon and Benesys will be there to answer your questions. Amplifon, providing hearing aid benefits, will also be in attendance. Breakfast and coffee will be served, and we encourage all to attend. It is important for all members to notify the Main Office (240.695.9463) and Fund offices of any change in your address or status. Case in point: retirees are able to pay under a lower dues structure, so give us a call and we will discuss the proper category. We can only notify you of the Local business if we know how to contact you. Also, benefit updates and statements will mail to your last known address, so you could be missing out on valuable information. I also encourage you to view the website for all Local events and news – www.baclocal1.org. As a citizen, you have the right to vote for your elected representatives and weigh in on matters of referendum. Those rights have been granted by Federal, State and Local Constitutions and empower you to determine your leaderships political fate. Politicians are readily aware of the amount of participation by the general public in the electoral process and they will certainly mold the society with which we choose to live in, to the interests of those who support them. I implore you to choose wisely, weighing the benefits and perceivable impact to you and your family. The first step is voter registration, and we have provided info within the newsletter to guide those wishing to do so. With Autumn upon us, and the cold weather soon approaching, we will have sweatshirts available for all members in good standing at the Christmas Parties. We will also have tools and other prizes, so stop out and help us celebrate. The dates and locations are further in the newsletter. It’s early, but on behalf of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 of Maryland Virginia & the District of Columbia, I want to wish you and your family, a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
