THE “SUMMER SLIDE”
The term “Summer Slide” refers to the distinct learning loss that students can experience when out of school for the summer.
“A regression in academic proficiency due to summer break, experts warn it hinders kids’ progress when they head b k to school.” (Scholastic)
Dancers also experience Summer Slid they don’t participate in dance-related over the summer! Make sure your dan continue to build on the skills they wo hard to learn during the school-year se enrolling them in one of our classes or summer. We are offering six weeks of five weeks of camps this summer, lots for everyone! We look forward to conti child’s dance education this summer!

We are offering family membership levels again for the 2026-2027 dance season Membership levels replaced our annual family registration fees a few years ago, and there are different costs/benefits associated with each level Please review MEMBERSHIP LEVELS 2026-2027 for all the details All current Backstage families are required to select one of the following options: PREMIUM membership, COMMUNITY membership, or OPT-OUT of classes for the upcoming session The deadline for families to select a membership level is Monday, June 8th; please fill out the 2026-2027 Membership Form by June 8th to select your family’s membership level for next year If you do not select one of the options by the deadline, your family will be assigned to Community Level membership for the 2026-2027 session, and the associated Community membership fee ($65) will be charged to your payment method on file with us at the end of June
2026-2027 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES:
Preparing for our Spring Shows took most of our time and energy these past several weeks, so we are still working on finalizing our preliminary list of classes for the 2026-2027 School-Year Session. We anticipate having the schedule available for our current families to view by Friday, June 12th.
For those who select Premium level membership, classes will be available for you to register for on Monday, June 15th. Community level memberships will have the option to register for classes on Monday, June 29th. Since the deadline for selecting a membership level is before we release our fall schedule, if you find that none of the classes available work with your schedule, please email dancewithus@backstagedance.org and we will issue you a refund of the membership fee.

Auditions for our Signature and STARS teams are on Saturday, June 13th! The deadline for registering for auditions is June 1, and audition prep classes begin today to help dancers prepare for the final audition.

We are thrilled to have everyone return to the studio for two weeks of classes after our Spring Shows! Classes after our shows include celebrations, recognitions and assessments, as well as the opportunity for your child to try a different class (in addition to their regular classes!) Attending different classes during this two-week period will be free of charge, and your child can try as many classes as they like. There is no need to pre-register for the classes, simply come to the studio on the day/time of the class your child would like to try, check in at the front desk, and we’ll give your child a nametag and let you know which studio room to go to. A list of available “Try-It Free” classes can be found HERE.
Trying a different class could give your child the opportunity to discover if they’d like to register for a class of a different dance style next year!
The last day of classes for the 2025-2026 school-year session is Saturday, June 13th!
