Functional Movement Screen (FMS)

7 point test looking for a-symmetry in the body. We will never be perfect but getting close could alleviate pain and or help prevent future injuries. YOUTH PROGRAMS YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER BAC LOVES KIDS !! Our secured, Youth Activity Center (babysitting service) provides a safe, fun, nurturing environment for your children to play while you workout. We provide childcare services for children ages 8 weeks and up, during flexible hours to accommodate your busy schedule. Our staff is warm, patient and highly experienced! We believe in keeping children active from a very young age. We are open mornings and late afternoons into the evenings.

AQUATICS BAC Salt Water System Â

Filtration of the Future‌

Constantly dedicated to a healthier and more enjoyable work out environment, BAC is proud to be one of the first aquatic centers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to convert from the traditional chlorine system to the state of the art salt-water filtration system. This system uses ordinary, non-iodized salt as an alternative to the harsher chlorine. The salt water is passed through a titanium cell that separates the naturally occurring elements of Sodium Chloride (NaCl). The Chloride particles act as a dual beneficiary by aiding the cleanliness of the pool. However, with the sodium content is similar to that of a teardrop, thereby making the aquatic experience not only healthy, but more pleasurable. AQUATICS Swim Levels

Nursery Swim: First time swimmers or children who are timid in the water will become more comfortable and safe as they learn basic kicking, arm strokes and submerging their faces. Safety rules, glides, freestyle arm stroke, backstroke and supported floating will be covered in this class. Level I: This class is great for children with some swim experience but who will benefit from going over the basics. Students who can submerge their faces will take this class. Safety rules, unsupported floating/glides, rhythmic breathing, retrieving toys, 10 yard freestyle, 5 yard underwater swimming and elementary backstroke are covered in this class. Level II: Free from the need for floatation aid, this class is designed for swimmers comfortable on their front and back, and who are ready to swim short distances. Work will begin simultaneous leg and arm movement with emphasis placed on proper body position to prepare for further stroke development. In addition, participants will begin to work on the front crawl and elementary backstroke, while continuing to improve breathing technique. Level III: Children who are able to swim the length of the pool with good technique will learn the more advanced skills of swimming. They will attain the skills of bilateral breathing and the scissor kick. Safety skills, development of breaststroke, further development of freestyle and backstroke, introduction to dolphin kick, stroke coordination and endurance for 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke are worked on. Swim Team Conditioning: This class is structured like a swim team practice. It strengthens advanced techniques and builds endurance for competition. Competitive skills, development of stroke efficiency, speed and strength are the goals for this class.

Waterbabies Ages 8 weeks to 2 years: 30 minute class Babies will become more comfortable in the water while bonding with a parent. Bubble blowing, kicking and floating, familiar songs and acquainting parents with swim holds are all part of the delightful experience. Instructors: Days & Times: Fee:

GROUP EXERCISE STRENGTH TRAINING Is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! Really hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention. It’ll help you run faster, play harder and stand stronger!

MAT PILATES

For the ultimate core workout! Basic classical Pilates movements combined with contemporary variations will strengthen and lengthen muscles. Benefits include a tighter butt, thighs and abs, a stronger core center, an increased flexibility, and an increase in energy level!

The TRX Suspension Trainer is the workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - because you simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance. TRX develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously.

CARDIO/DANCE Is the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Take on the terrain with your inspiring team coach who leads the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training. Discover your athlete within – sweat and burn to reach your endorphin high. Utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. WATER CONDITIONING Meant for those looking for a turbo-charged aqua experience, this class includes high intensity cardio and water resistance to gain strength, endurance and overall body conditioning. Focus is on legs, arms and abdominal work using water resistance and resistant equipment. The Latin rhythms and dances we love from Zumba are modified and adapted to aquatic environment without losing the basic identity and flavor that makes Zumba so much fun on land!

MIND & BODY Is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moved and posed to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

PILATES Reese Witherspoon, Tiger Woods, Jason Kidd, Madonna...There’s a reason that so many professional athletes, fitness gurus and Hollywood-types make Pilates a part of their regular fitness program. Pilates is a full body workout that tones, strengthens and lengthens muscles while continuously working the core – stomach, back and buttocks without building bulk. Pilates is the complete coordination of mind and body - Joe called it the Art of Contrology. While today we call it Pilates, no one can explain it better than Joe himself. "Contrology is designed to give you suppleness, nature grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, play and work. You will develop muscular power with corresponding endurance, ability to perform arduous duties, to play strenuous games, to walk, run or travel for long distances without undue body fatigue or mental strain." In the Soul Movement studio, exercises are done utilizing the Reformer, a spring based apparatus that Joe specially designed, that provides a very low impact, highly efficient muscle strengthening and flexibility workout. The Reformer challenges difficulty but also assists movement, aiding in appropriate and safe positioning to perform the exercises. STUDIO CLASSES At Soul Movement, we can offer you the experience you need. For people new to the work, those with physical limitations, or those wishing to fine tune their practice, private lessons are the way to go. Working one on one allows the instructor to focus on the specific needs of the individual more specifically than in a group class. Small Group classes still provide individual attention but in a group environment. You will enjoy the camaraderie and work shared with others of similar abilities. Private Lessons Private lessons are the most effective way to learn, practice and perfect your Pilates performance. You will receive undivided attention from your instructor who will develop a customized program addressing your specific goals to provide optimum results. Lessons will be conducted in a private setting on the Reformer and may include the EXO Chair, mat, barre or TRX depending on your specific needs and desires. Private instruction is ideal for learning the fundamentals of Pilates, progressing your practice, or for those who need to focus on a previous injury or special conditions. Duet & Trios All the benefits of a Private session, but shared with a partner/s. Participants should be of a similar ability level.
