As an entrepreneur, it’s no surprise I own my own business. How it ended up as quilting? That’s another story.

My business ideas started early. When I was 8 years old, I went door-to-door selling homemade mouthwash. Bless those neighbors who bought some, because that success fed into my entrepreneurial spirit. For years, I hustled to earn money from jobs like cleaning rooms at a motel (Yikes, have I got stories!) to delivering early morning papers. But my real desire was to create my own business. Fast forward to my mid-thirties when I convinced my best friend into starting a business with me. We didn’t know what we would do, but we knew it would be something.

My friend brought me to the International Quilt Market, or rather, I invited myself to tag along.

That’s when Quilters Candy was born. Around the same time that my friend taught me to quilt, we met with an attorney and opened Quilters Candy Box.Through the years, Quilters Candy Box morphed into Quilters Candy. It turned from a physical subscription box to writing my own quilt patterns and even publishing a quilting book last year! I now love to teach other quilters how to grow their quilty businesses.

That desire I had as an 8 year-old, turned into something wonderful. Who knew quilting would be where that entrepreneur spirit would lead me!
