FOOD TREND

XXL INDULGENT

DRINKS

In 2025, XXL indulgent drinks are establishing themselves as the must-have trend for lovers of sweetness and comfort. Gone are the shy glasses: make way for milkshakes, frappés, and smoothies transformed into real drinks to sip… or to eat! These generous creations, often topped with whipped cream, velvety syrups, and an avalanche of toppings, seduce with their nostalgic and ultra-indulgent side.

Ultra-indulgent creations that push the limits of sweet pleasure. To sip… or to devour !

Swirls of caramel, cascades of marshmallows, showers of chocolate chips, or crushed cookies… These drink-desserts bet on abundance and layering of ingredients for a spectacular and nostalgic effect. They bring back the taste of childhood, when we didn’t count the spoonfuls of whipped cream or the chocolate drizzle. The principle is simple: start with a generous base (fruit smoothie, creamy milkshake, iced frappé, or milky drink) and multiply the toppings. Homemade whipped cream, cookie chunks, chocolate shavings, thick syrups, candies, and colorful coulis turn the glass into an edible work of art.

These pastry drinks, to be enjoyed with a straw or a spoon, embrace pleasure without guilt. They embody the strong return of sweetness, a food trend that bets on excess and nostalgia. Always more loaded, always more indulgent, they will delight big kids in search of sweetness and surprise with every bite. Ready to fall for a milkshake that drives you crazy ?

Our recommendations :

Dot Sugar’s Chocolate Chips Frappé

Smöoy’s Snikers, Infinitely Choco, or Nutella milkshakes and Bubble Latte Caranuts

DipnDip’s strawberry, brownie, or speculoos milkshakes

Achta W Assal by Kanafanji’s Oreo or caramel shake and Arabic cocktail

Starcup CI’s All-Chocolate Frappé

Baóli’s “Spoiled Baby” milkshake

LUIDJI IN ABIDJAN

THE MUSIC EVENT NOT TO BE MISSED

A one-of-a-kind concert, a rare moment: for fans and the curious alike, it’s impossible to miss.

It’s official: Luidji is coming to Abidjan ! A rare artist, a unique voice in Francophone rap, creator of a body of work that moves as much as it surprises, Luidji doesn’t perform just anywhere… and certainly not often. In Abidjan, where artists with strong identities are warmly welcomed, his arrival has been eagerly awaited: on January 16, 2026, he will take the stage at the Palais de la Culture for a concert that promises to be unforgettable. Will you be there ?

Luidji is a rapper of Haitian origin. Unclassifiable, delicate, raw, and elegant all at once, he moves between rap, singing, and spoken word, as if whispering his emotions into the ear of his audience. His first album, Tristesse Business : Saison 1, moved an entire generation with iconic tracks like “Bâtiment B” and “Mauvais payeur,” where melancholy, sweetness, introspection, and flashes of lucidity intertwine. He talks about love, wandering, identity, what breaks us, and what repairs us. In 2023, Saison 00 confirmed this intimate artistic line: a return to origins, to what builds a man, an artist, a son.

On stage, Luidji delivers shows of rare intensity : carefully designed lighting, an enveloping atmosphere, and a special connection with the audience. Each concert is described as an immersive, almost intimate experience, where you sing as much as you feel. Suffice it to say, seeing him in Abidjan is an exceptional opportunity !

January 16, 2026, from 7 PM

Palais de la Culture

Tickets available at www.lehub.online

On January 16, Abidjan will have a date with an artist who leaves no one indifferent. An artist who transforms melancholy into beauty, sincerity into style, and the stage into a shared confession.

JAZZ TRIP

SEASON 2 KICKS OFF THIS MONTH !

Against all expectations, Jazz Trip is moving up its schedule : Season 2 will exceptionally open on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire, with a first stop dedicated to one of the genre’s founding capitals: Chicago. A return to the 1920s, when musicians who left New Orleans shaped a more sophisticated jazz, marked by the rise of solos, innovative structures, and the deep imprint of the blues. An inaugural evening designed as a dive into the roots, to launch this new musical adventure.

A new season between memory, modernity, and African roots.

2026 : A more African season than ever ! While the opening pays tribute to the American tradition, the 2026 program asserts a direction resolutely turned toward Africa and its global influence. Jazz Trip, driven by Abijazz, imagines this year the boldest roadmap since its creation, a true dialogue between the continent and the diaspora. Of course, the audience will rediscover essential stages of the genre: Modal Jazz and its infinite harmonic horizons, Gospel Jazz and its soulful spirituals, or the timeless grace of Vocal Jazz in the style of crooners. But the heart of the season will beat to the rhythm of fusions that reflect who we are.

Three flagship stops will celebrate the richness of African music :

Manding Jazz, weaving improvisation and West African traditions, with the energy of polyrhythms and the magic of the kora or balafon.

Highlife Jazz, heir to swing and popular Ghanaian and Ivorian melodies, for a joyful and irresistibly danceable evening.

An exploration of other Afro-descendant syncretisms, reminding us how much Africa remains one of the essential lungs of jazz.

A loyal team, surprise guests

At the heart of this adventure, the public will find the Jazz Arted Trio, led by pianist Achille Roland Kouassi, the true backbone of each stop. Alongside them, guest artists will bring new nuances, colors, and techniques. And, as always, Nin’wlou will punctuate each evening with her words, before launching the ritual phrase: “Have a Jazz Trip!”

MÉTAMORPHOSES

WHEN MATTER BECOMES LIGHT

And if painting could capture the very essence of metamorphosis ?

Until January 17, 2026, the LouiSimone Guirandou Gallery presents the exhibition Métamorphoses by Ivorian artist Claudie Titty Dimbeng under the patronage of Takesada Matsutani. An intimate journey celebrating transformation in all its forms, where matter, color, and light become vectors of an identity and spiritual quest.

Conceived after a residency at INSAAC, Métamorphoses is an ode to transformation. Claudie Titty Dimbeng, inspired by Akan spirituality and the heritage of the VohouVohou movement, unfolds her unique Mixed Art Relief technique. Tapa, raffia, coatings, and natural pigments intertwine to create landscapes of matter, where each canvas symbolizes a step of self-reclamation: from darkness to light, from doubt to revelation.

The exhibition is structured around three major themes: evocative canvases of the sacred feminine, portraits of fictional ancestors reworked in digital negative, and a series of performative photographs created in collaboration with her husband, Alain Titty Dimbeng. These works, both powerful and meditative, celebrate memory, identity, and continuity between generations.

Métamorphoses marks a turning point in the artist’s career, asserting her contemporary approach while paying homage to her Ivorian roots. It embodies the meeting of heritage and innovation and the power of art as a space for transformation and light.

About the artist

Born in Abidjan in 1968, Claudie Titty Dimbeng has lived in Paris since 1986. Heir to the Vohou-Vohou movement, her work, exhibited at UNESCO, in Norway, India, or South Africa, explores transformation and memory. Winner of the Matsutani Prize 2023, she is today a major figure of contemporary Ivorian painting, between matter, light, and spirituality.

AFRIK URBANARTS FESTIVAL 2025

A SPECIAL “MAQUIS-DEBATE”

EDITION

Since 2012, the Afrik UrbanArts Festival has worked to make African traditions dialogue with contemporary world issues. For its 12th edition, under the theme of social cohesion, this cultural event reminds that culture remains an essential foundation of living together. With a 100% local program and performances in public spaces, this special “Maquis-Debate” edition promises to be a strong moment of sharing, reflection, and celebration of African resilience.

Historically, African artists have always been builders of peace. In a context marked by political uncertainties and the wounds of history, dance remains a universal language, capable of transcending fears and opening spaces for dialogue. Afrik UrbanArts 2025 reaffirms this commitment: to offer the population moments of beauty, gathering, and hope, through solos danced by renowned Ivorian artists.

This year, the festival adopts a resolutely local approach. A unique day of choreographic performances will animate the streets of the village of Mondoukou as well as the Cocoteraie, a dance center led

by Jean Paul Mehansio, the festival’s artistic director. On the program : performances by Ivorian companies such as Guy Ange NK, Cie Mehansio, Fidélia Nehou, Mathieu Kakou, Kha Guy, Christopher Diazou, and Les Pieds dans la mare by Jenny Mezile. Each solo questions the place of the body in a society constantly evolving, between cultural heritage and external influences.

Cie
Jenny Mezile LPDM

French choreographer of Haitian origin, Jenny Mezile is an icon of contemporary dance in Côte d’Ivoire. Founder of the Afrik UrbanArts festival, the Kanga-Nianzé/Nianda Cultural Center (CCCKN), Danseraum, and the Les Pieds dans la mare arts school, she embodies artistic commitment in the service of the community.

LA MAISON DE L’ART OF GRAND-BASSAM

A NEW SHOWCASE FOR AFRICAN

CONTEMPORARY ART

A crossroads of creation, memory, exchange, and discovery. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I naugurated in May 2025, La Maison de l’Art of Grand-Bassam stands as a cultural beacon in Côte d’Ivoire, dedicated to the promotion of African contemporary art and the enhancement of Ivorian artistic heritage. Housed in the former “Hôtel des Poste et Douane,” in the heart of this historic city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this institution aims to become a hub for exchange and inspiration for artists and art lovers alike.

An ambitious project in service of culture

Supported by the Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire Foundation, the House of Art is part of a dual dynamic: to revitalize Grand-Bassam, a city steeped in history, and to contribute to the cultural and economic radiance of the country. This museum, designed as a place for the enhancement and dissemination of artistic creation, offers a variety of spaces: two permanent exhibition halls, a temporary exhibition hall, an artist residency with a studio, a café-restaurant, meeting rooms, and a garden.

The choice of Grand-Bassam is not accidental. It reflects the desire to promote national and African artistic creation while offering a tourist site that meets international standards. The renovation of the building, entrusted to the firm Koffi & Diabaté Architectes, was carried out in compliance with UNESCO standards, thus preserving the integrity of this exceptional architectural heritage.

“Souffle”: A permanent exhibition celebrating artistic diversity

The permanent exhibition “Souffle,” on view until May 2026, is the beating heart of the House of Art. It features the works of twentyeight artists from nine African countries, each offering a unique and contemporary vision of our time and our heritage. Painting, sculpture, photography, furniture design: forms, colors, and materials are reinvented to offer new readings of reality. The exhibition is organized around six major spaces :

- Inspiration, dedicated to contemporary masters, witnesses of major aesthetic evolutions such as Ouattara Watts, Ablade Glover, Jems Koko Bi, Aïda Muluneh, Armand Gauz, or Sess Essoh.

- Dreams and Creations, which highlights emerging talents, bearers of new energy such as Laeticia Ky, Joana Choumali, Mederic Turay, Armand Boua, Yéanzi, or Ange Dakouo.

- The Pavilion, a versatile space for temporary exhibitions and collaborative projects.

- The galleries and corridors, open to photography and installations.

- An artistic garden, where sculptures and vegetation intertwine for a sensory immersion.

- The artist residency, a crossroads of creation and cultural exchange.

MAISON DE L’ART

ABIDJAN, AN EVENING BY MOONLIGHT BOAPÉ, THE PROMISED LAND OF THE AKYE

It is said that once a year, when the moon watches high above the sky of Abidjan, the French Institute of Côte d’Ivoire opens a secret passage to little-known lands. In its gardens, the wind seems to speak, the trees tremble, and the spirits of the Ivorian peoples lean in to listen. Last year, the Zaouli of Bouafla left their traces on the still-warm stage; this year, it is the Akye people who cross the gates of the IFCI to offer their stories, songs, and dance steps—treasures passed down from generation to generation.

A journey that blends history, storytelling, and dance to retrace the epic of the Akye people.

It is said that when the story of “Boapé, the Promised Land” begins, the stars themselves draw closer to hear the voice of the storyteller. That voice is Obin Manfeï’s, keeper of words and memories, who has long woven the legends of his people. At his side, the Akendé dancers translate what the ancestors whisper: that a tale truly lives only when it is danced. Their rhythm embodies the key moments of Akye history: exile, the quest for a new land, ties with ancestors, and the traditions that shape the identity of this people. Through words, gestures, and movements, the audience discovers a

living and profound culture and becomes a witness to this transmission that connects the generations of yesterday and today.

With this show, the IFCI becomes the bearer of stories that must neither fade nor sleep. Stories that must circulate, be shared, touch the young, nourish the imagination, and transmit what Côte d’Ivoire holds most precious.

AVATAR : OF FIRE AND ASHES

MOVIE OF THE MONTH

Grieving after the death of Neteyam, Jake and Neytiri’s family encounters a new aggressive tribe: the Na’vi. This people of ashes is led by the fiery Varang, as the conflict on Pandora intensifies.

BAAB talks about it…

This is one of the most anticipated films of 2025 : Avatar: Of Fire and Ashes marks James Cameron’s return with a darker, more intense, and visually stunning chapter. For 3 hours and 17 minutes, the viewer is plunged into the heart of a transformed Pandora, far from the lush and marine landscapes of previous installments. Now, it’s all about volcanoes, ash, and scorched earth. Jake, Neytiri, and their children continue their fight against humans… but must also face a new adversary : the People of Ashes, a Na’vi tribe more aggressive and chaotic than any encountered before. At its head, Varang (played by Oona Chaplin), a powerful and mysterious woman who introduces a real upheaval in Pandora’s balance. This third opus explores darker themes: vengeance, inner turmoil, rebirth. Cameron reveals new cultures, new environments, and promises total immersion thanks to extensive postproduction. Joining the original cast (Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver…) are Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis. An unmissable event, announced as the visual shock of the end of the year. It releases on December 19, 2025 in your Majestic theaters. Don’t miss it !

SOLIDARITY CHRISTMAS

BAAB’S HELPING HAND

At the time when the streets light up, when the shop windows overflow with gifts, why not give a little more meaning to the end-of-year holidays by sharing the magic of Christmas with those deprived of it: sick children, disabled, orphans or street children... Dedicating time, giving money, a gift or a smile is more important than ever to make Christmas a great solidarity celebration. Here are some initiatives that BAAB wanted to highlight this year.

Thinking of others is also part of the magic of the holidays. In this very special time of the year, the children that Christmas has forgotten need our support and generosity even more. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

HOLIDAY MAGIC A CALL FROM SANTA’S ELVES !

This year again, the magic of Christmas is coming into Abidjan homes… and it arrives directly through a phone call from the North Pole! On Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December, Santa’s Elves are mobilizing to offer your children a tender and unforgettable moment: a personalized call, warm and full of mischief, to reassure them, amaze them, and remind them that everything is ready for the big night.

No video, no screen: just a joyful, soft and friendly voice speaking directly to their imagination. For 5 minutes, your child plunges into a magical universe where the elves prepare the gifts, feed the reindeer, wrap surprises, and double-check Santa’s famous list. An enchanted moment they won’t soon forget !

But behind this magical initiative is also a gesture of solidarity. The full amount of the

5,000 FCFA required for the call is donated to the NGO Enfants de Sarah, which works to support and integrate street children into shelter homes. A precious moment for your child, a vital support for others: Christmas magic at its finest.

M’ABIDJAN 2025

In 2014, a group of friends from Abidjan adapted the Anglo-Saxon concept of Movember by creating M’Abidjan, a charitable initiative held each year in a festive and friendly atmosphere. The goal : to raise funds to support local associations working for children, communities, and the environment through an array of sporting, fun, cultural and festive events. Want to take part in this wonderful adventure ? You have until 12 December 2025 !

Friendliness, Generosity, Sharing : M’Abidjan, a great opportunity to have fun while supporting the actions of 4 local associations.

Your help matters !

M’Abidjan thanks all its partners— companies and individuals—for their loyalty and commitment. If you wish to contribute (donation, logistical or material help, participation in the solidarity raffle), contact Stéphanie Lavie, President of M’Abidjan, at 07 08 34 70 73.

For the 2025 edition, the Mousta’Chefs are offering throughout the month a series of sports, cultural and social activities open to all, including:

3 first-aid training sessions in partnership with SOS Abidjan, loyal to the movement for the 3rd consecutive year, Ping-pong, foosball, darts and Yam’s tournaments, wellness workshops, face painting, as well as tasting sessions to share, discover and relax!

Funds collected will be donated to 4 partner associations: AfrikVillages, TBO (The Bridge of Opportunity), AIM (Action Ivoirienne pour le Monde) and N’Klossran. In 2024, M’Abidjan raised 19,000,000 FCFA, funding notably AIM’s CLAC (Reading and Cultural Activities Center), part of the construction of the preschool (3 classrooms + office) of the village of Guebo II – AfrikVillages, the support of 7 students in TBO’s excellence program (annual tuition of 1,200,000 FCFA per student), and care for over a hundred severe burn victims thanks to N’Klossran. Needs remain high, however. So get involved! Every gesture counts !

And if you cannot participate in the activities but wish to support the 2026 projects, you can contribute through the online fundraiser : https://www.helloasso.com/associations/ aim-association-imagine-le-monde/ collectes/m-abidjan-fete-ses-10-ans

PARC NATIONAL DU BANCO

THE NATURE REFUGE IN THE HEART OF ABIDJAN

Just steps away from the urban frenzy, a metal barrier is enough to shift the world ! On one side, honking, heat, dust. On the other, the humidity of an ancient forest and the calm of nature. Banco National Park, one of the eight national parks of Côte d’Ivoire, is a miracle in the heart of the city : one of the last primary forests in West Africa enclosed within a metropolis that has no equivalent except for the urban forest of Rio de Janeiro.

On foot, running or cycling, by day or night, there are a thousand and one ways to discover this green space in the heart of the city ! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

An ancient forest

“Banco” comes from the Ébrié word Gbancô, meaning “refreshing water source,” named after the river that runs through the forest. Long before the city existed, this land belonged to the Ébrié and Attié peoples, who harvested medicinal plants, wood, and

game there. With the founding of Abidjan in 1896, the forest became a hunting reserve, agricultural experimentation area, and water resource. Classified as a botanical reserve in 1953 and then a national park in 1957, it was long encroached upon by uncontrolled urbanization. From the 1970s, housing developments advanced, the city-forest boundary blurred, and human pressure increased. Yet despite threats, Banco never allowed itself to be extinguished. It continues to shelter about a thousand residents (descendants of forest agents and settled families) who, along with OIPR guards, protect this unique heritage.

An exceptional natural sanctuary

Banco covers nearly 30 km² of dense humid forest, surrounded by the municipalities of Adjamé, Yopougon, Abobo, and Attécoubé and dominated by giant kapok trees, monumental mahoganies, bamboos, makorés, frakés... In the arboretum, created in 1931, more than 800 plant species are recorded, including 26 rare in West Africa, and a 200-year-old Aiele, the park’s silent elder.

A biodiversity refuge

Banco is also a true refuge for local fauna : it harbors 60 animal species, including a family of chimpanzees (hard to observe), flying squirrels, mona monkeys, guibs, duikers, dwarf crocodiles, a multitude of tropical birds, and the famous long-tailed hornbill. There is also a pond for giant catfish, freshwater fish considered sacred. Additionally, colonies of fruit bats take flight every evening to fly over Abidjan.

Heritage, memory, and transmission

The park houses an eco-museum in the former residence of Governor Reste. Educational panels present the biodiversity, the history of the site, and conservation challenges. Outside, a playful path welcomes hundreds of Abidjan schoolchildren each year. It also contains one of the oldest forestry institutions in the sub-region: the forestry school founded in 1937. It once trained agents from all West Africa and now welcomes students in Waters and Forests.

Outdoor discovery and leisure at Banco!

Hiking or jogging on marked trails

Bicycle rental and rides on 80 km of bike paths

Guided tours with passionate local experts in botany and ornithology

Discovering the eco-museum and the arboretum

Feeding the catfish in the fish pond

Ziplining, tree courses, and play areas for younger children

A renovated park... and a city reclaiming it

Long stigmatized by a bad reputation, associated with insecurity or “spirits,” the park has today changed face and is experiencing a true renaissance. Renovated, secured, animated, it has become again the playground for families, athletes, and nature lovers.
