Cradled in a calm provincial setting, “Yam” offers a serene counterpoint to bustling Abidjan. Once the country’s capital, this peaceful city-birthplace of the late President Houphouët-Boigny-is like a “Brasília of the savannah”. Though often seen as a Sleeping Beauty, Yamoussoukro is far from dull. For those willing to read between the lines, it reveals a wealth of surprises and attractions.
Constructed at record speed between 1986 and 1989 under the direction of Pierre Fakhoury and Patrick d’Hauthuille, the Basilica is the tallest Christian religious building in the world. It was consecrated by Pope John Paul II in September 1990.
Elegantly adorned with Moroccan tiles, squared minarets, and intricate finishes, the mosque rises proudly opposite the Basilica.
Built between 1977 and 1987 and inaugurated in 1997, this striking structure stands at the end of a vast marble esplanade. Its richly decorated interior features monumental pillars, fine marble flooring, and rare wood species.
Now closed to the public, this palace houses the Houphouët family crypt. It is surrounded by three artificial lakes, a 22 km wall, and moats with 200 Nile crocodiles fed daily in a time-honored ritual.
Set in a vast 41,000-hectare reserve along the N’Zi River, this eco-lodge immerses you in the heart of nature. Stay in stilted rooms and explore the savanna’s unique wildlife-including Ahmed the elephant and the last white rhinoceros of Côte d’Ivoire-on a jeep safari, by bike, or even on horseback. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Located 45 minutes from Bouaké. Open daily. Activities include : Jeep safaris along the N’Zi River, guided nature walks, fishing & herbal medicine discovery, climbing Mount Sika Oka, biking & horseback safaris, canoe rides, bonfires, swimming pool, and more. No, this isn’t a wildlife exhibit — and it’s not a football museum either. Yet the Elephants are right at the heart of this bold project curated by artist Tamandra Gemy at MuCAT. A powerful exhibition that blends contemporary art, collective memory, and national passion — one we highly recommend !
Through a playful and accessible approach, this exhibition invites you to (re)discover the history of Côte d’Ivoire through the lens of 11 major Ivorian artists.
Why “the Elephants”? Because this iconic nickname for the national football team represents much more than a sport — it’s a symbol of unity, pride, and resilience for an entire nation. Here, football becomes a gateway, a pretext to explore and tell the country’s story from a fresh and creative perspective. At its core, the exhibition aims to transmit, awaken, and bring people together.
Following a chronological and thematic journey, visitors are taken through the key chapters of the country’s history: colonialism, independence, the world wars, political crises, but also economic milestones like coffee and cocoa production, the empowerment of women, the diaspora, the rise of Abidjan, and the enduring pillars of music, dance, and literature.
« La grande Histoire des éléphants »is a celebration of popular memory, reinterpreted through art forms such as painting, sculpture, installation, textile, and photography. The works of Obou Gbais, Lafalaise Dion, Halidou Ouangraoua, Kafana Soro, Willow Evann, Ulrik Abé, Pascal Konan, David-Josué Oyoua, Jean Servais Somian, Nicodème Guého, and Prohouly create a powerful dialogue between the voices of the past and those of today.

Egnale Wassi#4-2025
Dayêguê invites us into a world where art does not seek to beautify, but to expose— what wounds us, what shapes us.
In Abidjan, the exhibition Dayêguê marks an unprecedented cultural event: for the first time, two major art institutions— the Fondation Donwahi and the Galerie Cécile Fakhoury—are joining forces to simultaneously present the work of a leading figure in contemporary African art.
Until August 16, 2025, they are hosting this monumental exhibition by Sadikou Oukpedjo, which echoes his recognition as First Prize winner at the Ouagadougou Sculpture Biennale (BISO 2023).
The word Dayêguê, meaning “everything is fine” in the Tchamba language, is the name given to Oukpedjo at birth. Though it carries the appearance of a blessing, the artist rejected it due to its deep emotional ambiguity. Through this exhibition, the name becomes the central thread of a narrative of resilience and transformation—a direct confrontation with long-buried personal memories and an act of artistic and personal rebirth.
Through drawings, sculptures, and paintings, the artist unveils a raw, visceral body of work, torn between introspection and universal critique. There is no desire here to please or to soothe. Each piece seems to cry out, to challenge, to resist. The materials—rough, sometimes violent—become a language in themselves. They are the scars of an untold history, a rupture of the mask, a revealing of naked truth.

After suffering a personal tragedy, young kung fu prodigy Li Fong is torn from his home in Beijing and forced to start a new life in New York City with his mother. As he struggles to leave the past behind and fit in at his new high school, trouble seems to follow him at every turn—even though he’s not looking for a fight. When a friend asks for his help, Li agrees to enter a karate tournament. But he quickly realizes that raw talent isn’t enough. That’s when his kung fu mentor, Mr. Han, calls in backup: the original Karate Kid himself, Daniel LaRusso. Together, they teach Li a powerful new fighting style— one that blends their two worlds—for a final showdown like no other.
BAAB reviews…
The sixth film in the cult Karate Kid franchise, Legends is directed by Jonathan Entwistle and serves as both a sequel to the 2010 reboot and a continuation of the Cobra Kai series. It reunites two legendary figures from the saga—Jackie Chan (Mr. Han) and Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso)—while introducing a new generation through Ben Wang as Li Fong, a gifted kung fu student caught in a New York neighborhood ruled by karate. Expect spectacular fight scenes, emotional moments, and plenty of nostalgic nods. With a fresh and original storyline, Legends acts as a generational best-of that blends heritage and evolution. Whether you’re a longtime fan or completely new to the franchise, the film strikes a meaningful balance between tradition and renewal, driven by the chemistry among its three leads. While it may not reach the emotional intensity of the original, Karate Kid: Legends succeeds in capturing the spirit of the saga and updating it for a new audience.
