The Azle Library knows life is busy, but we’re here to remind you to “Unearth a Story!” The Summer Reading Program is our way of incentivizing reading by combining it with prizes and fun programs!
Our goal is to encourage everyone in our community to read over the summer, and particularly children and teens so they are ready for school in the fall.
Pencil this into your summer schedule and look through this guide for more details!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
LITTLES
Ages 0 to 3
Reading to littles helps their brains and early language skills develop!
Ages 12 to 18 TWEENS/TEENS
CHILDREN
Ages 4 to 12
Parents and siblings can read to younger children who are still learning to read and it counts for both the reader and listener! All reading counts: picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, etc 12-year-olds can choose to participate in the Children’s OR Tween/Teen Summer Reading Program.

All ages can register for FREE beginning May 29th at our Kick Off Event or anytime through July 27th when the library is open.
Once registered, you will be provided with a reading log to track the hours you read from May 29-July 27. When you reach your reading milestones, bring your log to the library to earn FREE prizes and raffle tickets for bigger prizes!

Celebrate Summer Reading success with a party in the park! Kona Ice, a bubble show, a petting zoo, and MORE will be a perfect way to wrap up a summer of fun for LITTLES & CHILDREN who read at least 5 hours!
Any LITTLE or CHILD who registers for Summer Reading and reads at least 5 hours by July 27 will earn a ticket for a free Kona Ice snow cone and access to the finale! (Anyone age 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and family members are welcome to enjoy the bubble show and music, but only ticket holders will have access to snow cones and the petting zoo.)
The library building will be CLOSED all day on July 31st so staff can prepare for and clean up the finale event. Raffle prizes will NOT be drawn at this event. Prize winners will be notified Monday, August 3 . rd

Enjoy a gaming trailer with PS5, XBOX Series X, and Nintendo Switch gaming consoles with room for 20 players, plus enjoy a fun evening in our Community Room with coloring sheets, yummy pizza, and worms-in-dirt dessert cups!
*Wristbands will be required to access the gaming trailer and inside events.
Present your ticket at the door the night of the finale party to receive a wristband.
Raffle prizes will NOT be drawn at this event. Prize winners will be notified on Monday, August 3rd.

Plus, all raffle prize entries earn you a chance to win the grand prize of a $50 Amazon gift card. You must be present at the finale party to win the grand prize.
