QUALITY OF LIFE PROJECTS ‘WELCOME TO AZLE’ MURAL Located at the intersection of Stewart St. and Main St., the new mural was installed in October. City staff and Council worked collaboratively to create the design concept that now serves as the backdrop to the outdoor dining area at Main St. Tacos. The total cost of this project was $10,512.

SIDEWALK COMPLETION PROJECT This fiscal year the MDD putting the finishing touches on a sidewalk path that extends to three schools and one city park, all without crossing a single major roadway. Hornet Academy, Walnut Creek Elementary, Azle Elementary, and Shady Grove Park are all directly on the path. However, the sidewalk didn’t fully connect until the MDD provided funding to fill two significant ‘gaps’ last year. The completed sidewalk now extends more than 3 miles from Stribling at Boyd Road, to the eastern border of the new Lakeview Heights Subdivision. The total cost of this project was $176,475.

City staff began working with Halff Associates to update the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan. This year we performed community outreach for feedback on land use and amenities, completed a visioning exercise, compiled a market and fiscal analysis, evaluated preferred land use scenarios, and began working on the downtown plan. The Comprehensive Master Plan will be completed and presented to City Council for adoption in the spring, barring any interruptions. The final document will also contain a recommendation and implementation strategy.

AN OUTDOOR DINING EXPERIENCE

Azle will welcome its first food truck park this spring! Staff has been working diligently to prepare the site, which is located at 225 Church St. The Feedlot will feature a stage for live music, RV hookups for up to three food trucks, festoon lighting and picnic tables.
