Many medics and healers are lent spell books and treatises during our apprenticeships. Even more, we often begin to write our own books, journaling what we have learned, be it spells, prayers, recipes for herbal concoctions, rites, or incantations - things that work for us, things we have discovered. These books can then be shared with those we train in the medical arts. Each new book serves as a gateway to new perspectives, capturing the mind through sharing knowledge, and the heart by sharing poignant explorations of the fragility of

dthe well worn line, “In my day, we respected our elders, especially when they were the healer!” Characteristic phrases from the famous paladin are found throughout and new readers might find themselves recognizing many lines as quotes we use everyday in medbays and hospitals across Azeroth and beyond.
MEDICAL LITERARY JOURNEYS: BOOKS THAT TRANSCEND BOUNDARIES, EDUCATES, AND ENTERAIN After a busy holiday season many of us look forward to cozy, fireside chats and reads. For medical professionals this can include books where the written word serves as a gateway to expanded knowledge and techniques, history, and even imaginative stories. I myself was recently prompted to locate a tome for a medical ritual and was reminded of the wealth of medical literature we have available to us!

With the New Year coming around there are going to be a lot of parties to attend. If you want to feed both kids and adults easily these sliders are for you.
1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish

2. Mix butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion in a bowl.
Ingredients ¾ cup melted butter 1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard 1/1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1 ½ tablespoons poppy seeds 1 tablespoon dried minced onion

3. Separate the tops from the bottom of the rolls; arrange the bottom pieces in a layer in the prepared baking dish. Layer about ½ of the ham onto the rolls; add a layer of swiss cheese and top with remaining ham slices.

These are gifts that come from the heart and an effort has to be put into them. Handmade items can be anything that you make yourself. Not everyone has time to make something. For those that don’t have the time, take into consideration what the person you want to buy for needs or wants. Needs should always come first. If you go get something the person wants, make sure it is something they will enjoy. If you do not know what to get that person. Sit and think, what do they like? Do they wear a lot of jewelry? Do they take pride in their clothing, their hair? Do they have a collection of things? Do they enjoy making things? Answering these questions and many more like them will help you pick that perfect gift. Things you should not get someone, unless you know it is something they want: Plants. Some people enjoy plants, and for them it’s ok. If you are

buying a plant for someone just because you don’t know what else to get them don’t. This is the same for pets. A rule of thumb is to not get someone something that they have to care for all the time. Then it becomes more of a job rather than a gift they can enjoy. This can be different if you are buying a child a pet they’ve always wanted or a plant for a plant lover. Take into consideration a lot of pets end up in shelters after the holidays. People buy pets thinking they will help someone or so that someone doesn't have to be alone, when that someone doesn't want a pet to start with or doesn't like pets. If you know someone who wants a pet, a pet is a good gift to get after Winter Veil is over due to the influx of pets that get brought to shelters after.

Children's Week is the dedicated time of the year when we turn our attention to supporting the children of both the Horde and Alliance. Lady GiGi, now a mother herself, was moved by the challenges faced by parents worldwide who strive to provide a secure life while helping their children battle against cancers and other illnesses. In response, she has established the Saint Mereldar Children's Research Hospital, a noble initiative that offers free treatment, travel, housing, and food for families focused on the health and wellbeing of their children fighting childhood cancers. This endeavor echoes the spirit of the real-life charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. For those interested in attending the charity ball, tickets can be purchased at the box office.
