WHO STARTED THE WAR?

REPORTER: Xulk

We have fought six months against an enemy we don’t even know Who are the Primalists? While the Primal Incarnates are now well researched, the mortals are not. One of the few Primalists to be named, Kurog Grimtotem, is scarcely explored. A member of the Grimtotem Tribe, he was of little note until he crashed a wedding and openly condemned dragons there

New Moon

An elemental could have done it

Many elementals are not only older than the ancient Primalist conflict, but also are able to commune with shamans. Any elemental that old could have contacted Kurog directly without anyone else knowing But which elemental had motive to do so?

First Quarter

many elementals made common cause with Deathwing and the Twilight Hammer cult, including the forces of Al-Akir and Ragnaros. How much of their involvement was true allegiance, and how much of it was them taking advantage of a chance to escape the Titan’s prison? The Twilight Hammer and Deathwing himself attacked and experimented upon any elementals they came across.

Somehow he went from an uninvited guest to discovering the Dragon Isles, breaking into a Titan vault and releasing Razageth and launching a global conflict

How did he do this?

While I am sure he was a powerful shaman in his own right, knowledge of the Primal Incarnates has been carefully hidden

Did any mortals know of the primal incarnates? Most of the dragons appeared ignorant of their existence until recently Whoever told Kurog about Razageth’s existence and how to reach her and free her ultimately launched this war and the conflict we are now all embroiled in So who did it?

All of them. The elementals were enslaved by the Old Gods. And when the Titans arrived, the Titans did not free them, but instead imprisoned them in the elemental plane From there, they watched the Sundering, the Cataclysm, the rise of Dark Shamanism, and even Sargeras trying to drive a sword through the very heart of the world.

During the Cataclysm, many

But now the elementals old enemies the Titans are bound and hidden away, and it is said that the Old Gods are gone Remaining however are the Dragonflights and the Keepers, the last remaining Titan servants on this world. This entire conflict is an attempt to remove the world of such Titan remnants, using the Primalists as a disposable army to accomplish it

But which elemental is responsible? The Elemental Lords are the most powerful of their numbers, and in theory control the courts as a whole, but such control has never been absolute. It could just as easily be any lesser noble that was old enough As I mentioned previously, the courts of Earth and Water seem less invested in

this conflict, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t start it, leaving the more volatile courts exposed to more risk

For a time, I thought this mystery was going to be difficult to solve. Kurog wa killed, as were the vas majority of the morta Primalists on the isles But w had a new revelation recently i the newly exposed caverns fresh set of mortal Primalist have arrived to try and tak over the caverns and gathe whatever secrets can be foun there.

These Primalists claim to hav come from the Firelands, th section of the Elemental Plan controlled by the court of Fire They claim to have been traine there Last I heard, th Firelands are ruled over by Lor Smolderon, the successor t Ragnaros who was put into powe by the Earthen Ring during th Legion invasion

During the initial incursions, have observed the Primalist moving through the Elementa Plane itself There were n supply lines or troop movement to track, as they did not eve move through Azeroth directly The portals they were see maintaining in the Barrens Ungoro and elsewhere wer invasion points The morta Primalists came through first and then helped maintain th portals as additional force poured through after them.

I think that it is quite likel that the current lord of th Firelands is directly behin these Primalist attacks, and ma have also been the origina elemental who informed Kuro Grimtotem of Razageth’s

existence I do not know if that is Lord Smolderon, or if he has gotten replaced in the years since Even if this lord didn’t give Kurog that initial nudge, they have been providing direct material support, transportation

Furthermore, we may be fighting slaves, elemental and mortal alike We need to learn our actual enemies before we finish it

Month's End Brawl

MAY'S WINNERS

1st Place: Niaa

2nd Place: Azoth

3rd Place: Rahuk

My first opponent was Biscuits Biscuits is a long serving cook at the Wyvern’s Tail in Orgrimmar, perhaps less well remembered than his brother Gravy who can be found bartending at all hours. While Gravy bartended ever since the Cataclysm, Biscuits felt the calling to become a shaman, doing his bit to try and save the world before finally settling down in Orgrimmar with his brother

Fate itself caused us to face each other in battle. Biscuits won over the crowd early by throwing out cornmeal biscuits, before closing quickly with pneumatic battle fists While I was able to hold him off with a felguard for a time, Biscuits was incredibly nimble, dodging most of my demonic minions and finally defeating my felguard with a pneumatic blow to the kidneys.

Fights in the brawl go until three hits, establishing the standard for friendly spars throughout Azeroth In the MEB, blows to pets, whether wolves or demons alike count as a hit Biscuits, now calling himself the Demon Puncher was gracious in his victory.

Demon Puncher vs Bear Puncher

I followed Biscuits to the next

round where he faced Hokani the Bear Puncher A skilled Tauren bounty hunter, she earned her name by punching bears to death with her bare hands, proudly wearing one such bear as a headdress Her general style for combat is to hit people until they stop moving. While she usually prefers dual wielding hammers at Biscuit's request, she agreed to use unarmed strikes only for this battle

Hokani started off strong with a solid headbutt knocking biscuits back He countered with a punch to the jaw, knocking out one of her teeth. She kept the pressure up with repeated gut punches. Biscuits tried to grab Hokani by the horns to gain more control over the battle at which point she struck him with a headbutt again knocking him out of the battle, and briefly out of consciousness

Biscuits received prompt medical attention.

Bear Puncher vs Shadowflame

Hokani’s next opponent was Azoth A blatant alias, Azoth is a shadowblade who has done questionable mercenary work across Kalimdor, operating out of Gadgetzan. As he arrived to the Dragon Isles, Azoth has started to incorporate Shadowflame into his arsenal, using knives coated in the volatile essence to maim and kill his enemies He felt no reason to refrain from using Shadowflame against Hokani

Hokani started off with her two

Azeroth Times FISKEPUBLISHING

hammers, slamming down into the ground and missing Azoth entirely as he shifted to his worgen form Azoth himself was swift, slipping by Hokani and lashing out with Shadowflame coated knives Hokani dropped her hammers, shifting back to fists, but still found Azoth too swift to lay a hand on, only managing to slow Azoth down with a thundering stomp against the temple flagstones Azoth managed to win the fight with a throwing knife

As the fight ended, I managed to draw the Shadowflame out of Hokani, however the procedure was not without its risks. Corta promptly banned the use of Shadowflame in the brawl and added it to the long list of rules

Shadowflameless vs Elementalist

Now restricted in his use of Shadowflame Azoth had to adapt to using speed and shadows alone. His opponent in the next round was Ruhuk Stormhoof a noted Highmountain elementalist and two time winner of the Month’s End Brawl If Ruhuk won tonight, he would be the second person ever to win three championships, matching only the ice priestess Raltaka’s record.

“Always remember that there is something to be hopeful for, and know that no matter how bleak things might seem, things will get better ” Ruhuk remarked to me, hoping to inspire the readers of the Times who were going through difficult times.

“My real name is Ansel Lochwood, and I’m available for hire,” was Azoth’s own official remark

Azoth opened up with a quick

stab to Ruhuk’s back, only to get struck by the lightning swirling around Ruhuk The two of them exchanged knife blows and elemental strikes for a time, before finally Azoth slipped in, attacking from the left, before shadowstepping to Ruhuk’s right to deliver the final dagger strike for the victory.

Third Place: Solar Prelate vs Elementalist

Though defeated, Rahuk wasn’t out entirely, making it to the third place qualifier match against Dai-Yi Moutnainpaw. DaiYi is a Kun-Lai native, raised by farmers and serving in the militia against the Yaungol and Mantid before being summoned to Xuen’s temple Now serving as a prelate of Xuen she wields spear strikes with brilliant attacks of the Light

“This brawl is fantastic,” she remarked.

She started off by leaping over the Tauren before kicking him in the back For her effort, she was struck by charged pieces of stone dancing around Rahuk DaiYi lunged forward with her spear, blasting out a beam of light towards the shaman, who countered with a shield of earth. He took the earth shield and attempted to entrap her spear in stone While Dai-yi managed to break her spear free, she struggled to make any other attacks land on Rahuk, Rahuk finally winning by blasting her off course with air and stabbing her with his dagger for the victory and winning third place.

Final Battle: Peacock’s Fury vs Shadowflameless

For the final battle,Azoth faced

against Nia Dawnshield. Nia is a warden of the Kaldorei Watchers with a focus on spirit magic, a traditional watcher art which she has intermixed with Pandaren chi-weaving techniques Nia herself has avian features but enjoys summoning additional wings of spirit, both out of vanity, but also to use her unusual magic to confuse and disorient her enemies

Last month she placed fourth, but had a renewed interest in victory this time, coming in with a new and properly fitted set of armor An accomplished chef, she practices a mixture of Kaldorei and Pandaren cooking techniques. She found the Pandaren training to remain calm contrasts well with Warden impulsiveness

Nia opened up, pointing her spear at Azoth and shooting out a brilliant beam of blue light... only to find that Azoth had already shadowstepped behind her. Azoth tried to kick her, but found his foot bouncing off of some invisible shield, only to get smacked by ephemeral wings from Nia’s back

The two of them kept trading blows, Azoth slipping in with his dagger while Nia tried to keep him at range with her spear and wings. FInally after cutting open Nia’s cheek Nia responded with a stunning display of magic, creating six floating wings which formed around a central eye, that very eye blasting Azoth with force and knocking him to the edge of the arena, scoring the victory for Nia Dawnshield.

Nia won first place, with Azoth getting second In addition to the hundred grand cash prize, Nia also won an artistic rendering by Yurimi

ASK MS NIGHTSKY

Q.HHello,

Ms Nightsky

I am the leader of druidic Grove, and we've recently gotten an influx of members from the horde side; we are a neutral circle, but things are still a bit tense! What are some fun activities I can use to help entice intermingling between our alliance and horde members? Any advice would be appreciated

Athedus Grimwilde

A.Dear Athedus Grimwilde,

Thank you for asking this question! I adore working on and coming up with events I find it ever so enticing Firstly, let’s start off with something I believe many may enjoy A beach bash or a beach party to start things up At this party, have a few different things going on. Have those who enjoy cooking bring their own meals to share with everyone We all know the horde and alliance do have a few different types of food and drink This will give some people something to talk about Then at this party, have a storytime which would also allow those who want to tell stories to give a small introduction about themselves. Make this sort of a contest, those who are involved, allow them to secretly vote on who has the best story The person

with the most votes wins some gift or title. Of course, do not allow them to vote for themselves. Also could have it so questions can be asked after each story These questions are so people can get to know each other better

A few other events are a dinner party, or any meal type party. One that you can do often is allow those of the grove to host a party of their own. It doesn't have to be a party, it can be the others coming in to visit the place they stay at, or allow them to come up with their own event that they will host This would allow the others to get to know that one person. That one person will also feel like they are in the spotlight for a while. Most people enjoy the spotlight

There is a chance not everyone will attend any of those events, but don’t let that get you down At least it will help you to know which members of the grove are willing to help it grow. I wish you the best of luck dear! I hope everything goes well

Ms Nightsky

Q.Dear Ms. Nighstky,

My family and I own a small business that sells arcwine, and since the Shal'dorei joined the Horde, we have been trying to expand our business to the people of the Horde. However, I do have a slight problem - I tend to get a bit too shy when it actually

comes to talking with others, as the business meetings were usually ran by my mother. Would you be so kind to tell me how can I become less nervous? I am really eager to make things work

Thank you for your time, Naneir Silverwine.

A.DDear Ms.Silverwine,

Many people have this issue, and I am one of them Writing comes easier to me than talking does A few things I’ve learned and used myself are as follows. Firstly, overthinking makes it worse. The, what if this happens, what if that happens, what do they think? Don’t over think Focus all that energy into making a script or talking in the mirror I personally spoke to myself in the mirror many times. At first I felt, the best word for it is stupid for doing it. But after a while I realized it was actually helping me Remember to stay positive It may seem simple, but that helps as well Remember the worst that can happen is them not wanting to make a deal or contract with your business. Changes are, if they are willing to make the meeting, they are willing to strike a deal with you

Something to consider is they may be nervous too, they are people just as you are I carry something with me when I meet new people A necklace that brings me comfort When I get nervous I notice I fiddle with

Azeroth Times FISKEPUBLISHING

it It helps a lot The last piece of advice I can give you dear, is to always stay true to yourself. Accept that you get nervous, work towards bettering that by practicing and going to meetings with others around you, and breathe It helps to pause and take a deep breath from time to time I am sure they will not say much if you stop mid-sentence just to take a deep breath to collect yourself and your thoughts. You are a strong person, Ms. Silverwine You have my respect You’ve already made the move to get into the business and have the will to want to better yourself and help it out Put your mind to it and you can do anything You are stronger than you think.Take care of yourself, dear.

THE SOCIAL GRACES

Reporter: Lady Oliviana Tate-Brigham

Over the past few years there has been a lot of discussion surrounding the role of the nobility in our society, so this week I thought I would provide some information on the ranks of the Stormwind nobility and how to address them. Since this is such a complex and highly nuanced area when it comes to etiquette, I will be giving a broad, general overview of the topic If you are interested in learning more, there are many books on this subject at the Stormwind Public Library.

Think of the peerage as a ladder From the top rung to the bottom, the nobility is

is ranked in importance as follows; duke/duchess, marquess/marchioness or marquis/marquise or margrave/margravine, count or earl/countess, viscount/viscountess, baron/baroness On the last rung sit what is referred to as the minor nobility, members of the baronetage and the knightage

For those who are unfamiliar with noble titles, a marquee/marquis/margrave title is one granted to those lords and ladies who rule over Marches, or border territories

of or within a kingdom A baronet is not, strictly speaking, a member of the peerage. The baronetage is a separate dignity of its own, as is the knightage. In the hierarchy of precedence, the baronet is situated below the peerage and above the knightage

Members of the higher ranks of nobility may have several different titles to their name A countess might also be a baroness, a duke may also be a marquis, a viscount and a baron In these cases, the highest ranked title is their

LIFESTYLE

primary one and all others are referred to as subsidiary titles The first born children of nobles can adopt one of their parent’s subsidiary titles as a courtesy title until they inherit them all in their own right.

Among members of the same title rank, such as countesses, for example, there still exists a rather outdated system of precedence The older the title is, the more senior its bearer is among those of the same rank. For example, the title Duke of Everywhere is centuries old, while the title of Duke Overthere is only a hundred years old In this case, Duke of Everywhere is held higher in precedence than Duke of Overthere, while Duke of Overthere is still at a greater precedence than Baron Nearby

When corresponding with a Duke or Duchess, the envelope should be addressed to The Most Noble or His/Her Grace the Duke/Duchess of Everywhere The letter should begin with My Lord/Lady Duke/Duchess or Dear Duke/Duchess of Everywhere If you are addressing them in person, you would use “Your Grace” or “Duchess”.

Written Example: Her Grace the Duchess of Everywhere, and Dear Duchess of Everywhere Spoken example: “Good evening, Your Grace ”

When writing to a marquis/marquise, marquess/marchioness, or Margrave/Margravine, the envelope should be addressed to ‘The Most Hon Marquis/Marquise (of) Overthere’ Note that it is optional for the ‘of’ to be included when addressing nobles below the rank of duke/duchess When addressing them verbally, you would say “My Lord/Lady”, “Your Lord/Ladyship”, or “Lord/Lady Overthere”.

Written example: The Most Hon the Marquise Overthere, followed by My Lady Marquise or Dear Lady Overthere

Spoken example: “Good evening, Lady Abhainn ” “Good evening, Your Lordship ”

The written address for earls, counts, viscounts, and barons are essentially the same. They are addressed on the envelope as The Right Hon Earl/Viscount/Baroness (of) Nearby The letter itself will address ‘My Lord/Lady’ or ‘Dear Lord/Lady Nearby’ When addressing a bearer of one of these titles in person, you would use “My Lord/Lady” or “Lord/Lady Nearby”.

Written example: The Right Hon the Viscount of Nearby, followed by My Lord Viscount or Dear Lord Nearby Spoken example: “Good evening, My Lady” or “Light bless you, Lady Nearby.”

Knights and baronets/baronetesses are given the prefix ‘Sir’ or ‘Dame’, and are addressed using the title plus their first or full name, but never their surname alone The wife of a knight or baronet/baronetess is addressed as ‘Lady’.

Example: Sir Reginald de Clare, Sir Reginald, Dame Soraya Moraine, Dame Soraya, not Sir de Clare or Dame Moraine.

For those who are worried about earning the ire of a noble by using the wrong form of address, do not fret The current Stormwind nobility are a more progressive group than previous generations, more likely to be dismissive of formality than angry about a breach of etiquette. When interacting with one of the more formal types, you cannot go wrong by just being respectful and using “My lord/lady

AZEROTH EATS

COLUMNIST: Sinigard Thundershade

Welcome back, dear readers This month’s article is about a nice sandwich I recently found while on a quick run through Westfall and will be slightly shorter than last months. It was something simple, a large piece of crispy chicken covered in a surprisingly sweet hot sauce that sat between two buns and a few slices of pickles

GRILLED CHICKEN AND MANGO SKEWERS

COLUMNIST: Mr Fiske

We are right there in the heart of summer and I know when it gets hot out I want something refreshing. That is what these skewers will be able to do for you Packed full of flavor and doesn’t weigh you down

Ready in 30 minutes

Serves 4 People

Ingredients

1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1inch cubes

3 medium ears sweet corn

1 tablespoon butter

⅓ cup plus 3 tablespoons sliced green onions

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

1 mango peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes

1 tablespoon olive oil

Lime wedges

Preparation

1 Cut corn from cobs In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat; saute cut corn until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in ⅓ cup green onions. Keep warm.

2. Toss chicken with salt and pepper Alternately thread chicken and mango onto wooden skewers Brush them with oil

Now, as I previously said, I’m no stranger to spicy foods I don’t venture to them as much as I used to but something about this chicken sandwich called out to me I eagerly awaited my meal to come to me as I sipped on a mug of ale

After a few moments, a plate was sat in front of me and I could see the steam slowly rising. The smell of the spice cut through but there was something else, that sweetness Was it honey? A loud crunch echoed all around me as I took my first bite The flavors coated every corner of my mouth The sweetness, the

Azeroth Times FISKEPUBLISHING

heat, the slight tanginess and different kind of crunch from the pickles pulled the entire thing together Even the bread had a slight sweetness to it

I spoke with the chef in the back for a few moments. Sadly they refused to be recognized or even give me a hint as to what was used in the breading of the chicken to provide such flavors

For now the recipe will remain a mystery to me At least until I am able to figure it out for myself

The next time you find yourself at Sentinel Hill, stop at the Inn and give this sandwich a try Of course for those that are aware of this already, hopefully you won’t dislike me too much for uncovering such a hidden gem

Next month I’ll be covering a dish that I’ll be making myself Though I’m not sure what that will be, I do hope it will be something you all can be interested in
