A Haunting at Hearthglen Mine

REPORTER: Sylerias Dawnsinger

The Shikari Collective Scribe

The Shikari Collective traveled north via portal to investigate the reported haunting of a mine in Hearthglen, located in the western plaguelands. When they arrived at the mine, a note at the entrance stated nobody should enter the place because it belonged to death Ignoring the notice, the group entered and were greeted by a loud and angry voice yelling for them to leave and accusing them of being thieves.

When they made it about half way through, they found human remains

Even with a clear advantage of numbers and skill, they found their opponents to be more difficult than they thought V had a knife thrown at her and Grudder had finger bones shot at him, causing injuries and lost tempers Manitria burned a skeleton to death with moonfire and Grudder smashed in the skull of another. After a heated battle and sanity lowered, the journey continued.

V continued deeper into the mine, hearing the spooky voice of the ghost and wanting to investigate further to locate the source Once more the group was attacked, V having gone on ahead and escaped the fight. Kyla ended a skeleton with her solid note while a member burned another to ash After another successful battle, the rest of the group moved on to seek out V

They used Grudder's magic eye as a source of light as they continued onward, Kyla holding it up like a torch. Meanwhile, V found a music box and decided to use it This freaked out Kyla and she hid behind Grudder,

his height not doing much to hide the taller Kaldorei woman

By this time, Grudder had lost a lot of his sanity at the perspective of a real haunting and he became cold and closed off The ghost appeared before them, humming the tune of the music box He taunted the ghost, aggravating V, who managed to get the ghost to say he only wanted his locket back, the only memory he had of his wife and daughter who died in the fall of Lorderon. After more taunting from the grumpy Grudder, Kyla hugged him and told him he and the ghost had much in common, stating he needed to consider empathy in this situation, trying to calm him down Together, the group offered to help find the locket

They left the mine and began speaking to the miners and guards in town V yelled at people and Grudder created a small explosion, the elves seeing a flame from it took off running This left humans They spotted a nervous guard nearby A member approached and began questioning him. He handed over the locket and a member passed it on to V. They returned to the mine and V gave the locket back to the ghost, placing it with his bones after answering the ghost's request to open it

The spirit of the ghost's wife joined him, finally reunited after the tragedy of Stratholme separated them years ago. He asked about his daughter and the wife stated she had not joined her

in the beyond and she might have made it out alive. This realization allowed them to both pass on. Grudder finally calmed down enough to show respect for the dead, lighting a candle in rememberance Those who caught a glance of the daughter in the locket stated they recognized her in Stormwind and vowed to one day reunite her with the remains of her father.

Together they all returned to Stormwind. Kyla went to bed while the others celebrated their victory A few days later, a member would find the girl, a woman now, and inform her of what transpired The fact her father escaped and lived a while longer made her happy. She wanted to get his belongings, a certain sword being of special interest to her. She requested a member and his group escort her there and he said he would speak to his friends about it later

Experience Azeroth Finest at the World’s Faire!

REPORTER: Sulavan E.

It is no secret that the World's Faire Carnival makes for a day of excitement and entertainment! Enjoy thrilling combat, delicious food, and amazing games Delight in the colorful decorations and fun atmosphere Celebrating the spirit of discovery and exploring a world of endless possibilities.

This is not the first year folks

from near and far have flocked to the docks in Ramkahen, and Mar’at of Uldum to see various performances and support local vendors Of course the atmosphere this year was nothing short of warm and welcoming like the sun that greeted them upon entry There was no shortage of heat this spring, as many of the fairgoers were spotted with umbrellas and summer attire. Some found their way to the edges of the water to dip their toes in while others took to the tents of the vendors to beat the heat and hydrate with cool, refreshing beverages, and treats offered by various sellers!

To start the week-long event off, Runaway Theater Troupe graced viewers with a spectacular firework show and re-telling of histories from each point of Azeroth It was not long until the festivities were underway and folks who had signed up for and were not limited to DICED, Rhyme Battles, Sparring, and fashion contests moved to their respective districts to begin. Those brave enough to appear before their fellow attendees showed their skill in open mic and storytelling, reciting personal and favorite stories and songs!

It seemed the fan favorite, DICED was no short of its usual hype as it drew crowds larger than normal to view the competing chefs as they sliced and diced their way to number one Each chef gave it their all preparing and serving up for each different category to make their three-course meal Chefs were asked to incorporate three mystery ingredients into their dishes, some choosing to skillfully flavor their dish with the ingredients and others making it the center

of attention The finalist of this year's DICED event was Nia Dawnshield in third, Finnegan Quill in second and the leading chef taking home the full “Five Stars”, Dorian Valliquette in first place.

Some of the vendors this year are returning faces but others such as Lomus Halder, an upcoming author, made his way to the market to promote his book “Words from the Blackwald” This beautiful piece of literature entails folklore, songs, and poetry, descending from his hometown of Gilneas. Halder stated that he had made quite the profit this year from book sales, and was happy to see fairgoers not only enjoying his own work, but also the other vendors sprinkled out throughout the market The author also was quite impressed with the amount of security this year, and how they handled keeping so many attendees safe

To end the week off, another spectacular show lighting up the evening sky, accompanied by song and music Cheers, applause, and of course, the occasional sob could be heard from the crowds as they gave their last hurrah. Fairgoers would then be ushered into the cool depths of the Underground Rave to dance and celebrate such a magnificent week and to give their last goodbyes to friends made Remarks could be overheard, as the crowds dispersed over, of the joy all will share in attending next year’s fair to celebrate again in a weeks long journey of duels, feasts, song, and dance at the World's Faire Carnival

Ga’nar’s Victory

REPORTER: Xulk

Orcish philosophy has long been dominated by Lok’tar Ogar, Victory or Death The idea that you must achieve victory, or failing that die in the attempt However, this notion was challenged by one of the greatest philosophers of our age, Ga’nar of the Frost Wolves born from a Draenor lost to time. In the heroic defense of Thunder Pass, Ga’nar realized that he needed to stall the approaching Thunderlord orcs to defend his home

Ga’nar ran into the pass alone, taking on the entire Thunderlord advance. He gave Drek’Thar enough time to seal the pass and prevent the advancing forces At the moment of his death, Ga’nar shouted out “Lok’Tar” At this moment, Ga’nar realized that there was another option, instead of Victory or Death,

making it no longer a choice but instead assuring Victory by itself

Lok’tar Ogar is meant to challenge cowardice in battle Through fear, we may run too early from battles we may yet win, but ultimately, when loss is certain there is nothing to be gained from death. Like Ga’nar we must find victory through nuance, choosing our battles more carefully than a simple binary would dictate

What Ga’nar’s thesis fails to capture however is what happens to the survivors Many of us have achieved neither Victory nor Death... or as wracked by wars as our worlds are, have felt both victory and defeat, yet endured despite it Many have been injured and been unable to complete their battles despite their best efforts

We do not have a single battle upon which our death should hinge, we have had long campaign after long campaign While a collective victory is possible... we cannot win every battle, and many of those battles will leave us breathing and bleeding still While we should seek it, most of us will not find Ga’nar’s perfect victory We should have mercy for the survivors, for such a term describes us all

TRAVEL

Travels with Mel: ULDUM

COLUMNIST: Melanie Abernathy

Do you love adventure? Beaches? Luxurious oases? Well then, can we say “Welcome to Uldum”? Yes, we can!

Uldum is an ancient desert located on the southern most tip of Kalimador, lovingly nestled between the lands of Tanaris, Silithus and Un’goro Crater. It is a land of vast sandy dunes, beautiful oases, and open skies. But, it is so much more than that! We had the good fortune to travel to the enchanting desert capital of Ramkahen, a historic location rich in culture and mystery, for the World’s Faire Carnival The carnival is a week long event held each year to bring the world of Azeroth together. Traveling back and forth is simply not logical so we decided to try our luck at some of the local resorts and we are here to say that we were not disappointed

In the capital city of the Tol’vir people, we discovered a little gem of a resort located right at the edge of the water overlooking breathtaking view of the majestic Vir’naal dam and desert beyond Ramkahen Resort provides one with luxurious accommodations with affordable prices Affordability like this is a definite pro for those on a working man’s dime but the con is, the resort is on the smaller side with only ten suites in total. We were ably to reserve

it for the first night which gave us the opportunity to explore all that Ramkahen had to offer from local food fare to a tour of the majestic dam. The suites are large, open and airy featuring beds with light netting to keep the bugs away giving one the capability to get a good night’s rest Each suite features a bathroom with large sunk in tubs and sitting rooms with handcrafted furniture of wicker and plush cushions lovingly wrapped in rich jacquard. Luxury and affordability give it a five star rating but the lack of available rooms knock it down a four

After day one, we crossed Vir’naal lake to visit the sight in the harbor town of Mar’at where we opted to stay at the local hotel, Lakeside Hotel&Spa. Like the Ramkahen Resort, it provides luxury but with an elevated price given the amenities provided With twelve rooms and ten suites, it can accommodate twice the number of

guests Like the former, it also provides the best of food and beautiful vista views of the dam and desert So why stay there when the other is less expensive? One word. Spa. This is the place to go if you want to be treated to expert pampering ranging from massage to kelp wraps When one books a room, they are given a complimentary visit to the massage parlor If you are looking to relax and rejuvenate, then this is the place for you. We give it a five star rating.

For the more adventurous type, we suggest a visit to the Oasis of Vir’sar, nestled at the edge of a lovely little lagoon Those with daring spirits will certainly be drawn to this location Camping, correction, glamping is available here as well as a deep dive into the ancient Obelisk of the Moon. The waters of the lagoon sparkle at night and create an atmosphere of beauty and romance Well so long as one can ignore the crocolisks during mating season

Luxury tents provide comfortable goosedown mattresses elevated from the ground with low rise platforms and netting to help keep the pests out Each tent provides a privacy screen and copper tubs to bathe in after a long day of exploring all that the oasis has to offer. While don’t recommend it for those who aren’t looking to explore ancient locations, we give it a solid four stars for those who seek just that kind of atmosphere

In conclusion, we not only recommend Uldum, we encourage anyone and everyone to give it a visit as it makes a great get away for just about any reason Be sure to bring plenty of airy clothing and check out all it has to offer Other locations not mentioned above are the Akhenet Retreat surrounded by exotic gardens, Neferset City, Orsis, Sunstone Terrace, and Sunwatcher’s Ridge, each with their own accommodations and sights to see. Uldum is a place one can visit over and over and never be bored Go on and book your vacation today!

ASK MS NIGHTSKY

Q.How should you deal with a family member that has done something to ruin

your life, but you still love deep down?

A.Dear El,

This one is a tough one Love is a very strong emotion that can be hard to deal with sometimes I have two things here to offer The first, is to try to slowly separate yourself from this member. Find things to keep yourself occupied to get them off your mind. Eventually you will find yourself spending less time with and around them, and that pain of love will not be as bad as it once was This will take time Take two on the situation, talk to them in case they did not know what they had done. Explain to them what was done wrong and how it made you feel. If they knew what they did and had done it on purpose, set some boundaries Be careful with what you say and tell them Don’t give them any fuel for a fire Find another person you trust to go to for some support. Support with something like this is a huge help. I truly wish you the best of luck here, dear. Family issues are one of the hardest to deal with You are in my thoughts

Q.I felt drawn to your name and looked into your purpose which I found admirable enough to give it a try I am a seasoned woman, having lived countless lives compared to those around me With that said, I have experienced much during my time. Friendship. Adversary. Love. Loss. There was a time I had it all and was quite content with it After the death of my beloved, all of which I had I hold no longer Whether it was by happenstance or intentional, I will not indulge with specifics, however the heart of the matter is I was content living out the rest of my days alone. It is an old tradition of my people that once we haven chosen to be with someone they are our partner in life, even throughout death I just so happen to be one that holds this tradition where I will live out the rest of my days waiting to be with the one I love. However, there is a young man that I feel has developed a fondness for me I am wise enough in my age to know when someone is just being cordial, however I feel the extension is performed with additional effort He’s also admitted to having what he calls a “boyish crush” to support my theory. I write to you, darling Nightsky, because I hold conflict if I should entertain this considering all that I have stated above His company has been refreshing and if I may continue to be forthright with the matter at hand, I rather miss being doted upon. What do you make of this?

A.Dear Ms,

Love can be a harsh thing Come and go in our lives, it can bring joy, happiness, loss, sadness, and even depression to us all

First, this depends on the tradition. Not having another lover, does this mean you can not marry or commit yourself to another? You can be with someone and not take it to making vows or getting married Enjoy his company, flirt back and forth Just make it clear that you can not fully commit to the relationship because of your tradition. If in time you feel close enough and feel comfortable making a commitment, remember we are different in our own ways We are not our mothers, sisters, grandmothers Our hearts are different from those of our families Those that truly loved you, wouldn’t they want you to be happy with life?

No matter what I tell you, one thing is for certain, always follow your heart when it comes to love Risks have to be taken or else we’d always live with the ‘what ifs’ The ‘what if’s’ lead to regret I’m not saying this will grow into love, it could just be a thing with flirts and good conversation, but if that's all it truly is and ever will be, would it hurt to have that sort of friendship? I wish you the best, lovely lady

THE APOTHECARY'S GARDEN

COLUMNIST: Malisse Walker

When it comes to dry, itchy skin, there is no better savior than humble oatmeal (avena sativa), especially the finely ground form called colloidal oatmeal. Although it is more commonly found on our kitchen tables as part of a hearty winter breakfast, oatmeal has several properties that make it a wonderful way to treat numerous skin conditions and complaints

Oatmeal is a natural exfoliator, removing dirt, oil, and dead skin cells from our body, making it an excellent cleanser for sensitive skin It is rich in beta-glucan, a substance that is known for its water absorption properties, and colloidal oatmeal can also form an occlusive barrier on the skin, meaning that oatmeal aids in both absorbing moisture into the skin and preventing moisture loss. By keeping the skin nourished and moisturized, oatmeal can help prevent dryness, itchiness, tightness, and flaking

People who have eczema, psoriasis, sensitive skin, and even acne may find skincare products containing oatmeal to be especially beneficial. This is due to oatmeal being antiinflammatory with some additional antibacterial properties, which enables it to soothe inflamed and itchy skin while calming irritation

Most apothecaries will stock colloidal oatmeal and products containing oatmeal. If you wish to make your own colloidal oatmeal, ensure that you purchase organic oats and

simply grind them into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or coffee/spice grinder.

Oatmeal Bath

An oatmeal bath is a quick, easy, and affordable remedy for sufferers of eczema or other ailments that cause itchy skin. It is by no means a cure, but it offers relief from symptoms. As hot water can dry skin out, causing further irritation, for best results, use in lukewarm water every day

Ingredients

1 cup of colloidal oatmeal Lukewarm water

Method

Add the colloidal oatmeal to a bath full of the lukewarm water Stir until oatmeal has dissolved and turned the water milky

Soak in the water for 10 minutes and then rinse off with clean, lukewarm water. Follow up with a good quality moisturizer within three minutes of getting out of the bath

Oatmeal Mask For Dry Skin

This mask is best suited for people with dry, sensitive skin. The oatmeal helps prevent moisture loss, while gently nourishing skin at the same time

Ingredients

½ cup colloidal oatmeal

1 egg

1 tablespoon sweet almond oil

½ banana, mashed

1 tablespoon honey

Method

Combine the ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly. To make the mask even more soothing, mix the ingredients in a bowl over ice to chill them

Apply the mask evenly to a clean, dry face and leave for 15-20 minutes Rinse off with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer

Oatmilk Calming Lotion

This body lotion is perfect for those suffering from dry, itchy, skin and can also be applied to the face if needed. It is lightweight enough that people with oily skin can use it as well

Ingredients

¼ cup safflower oil (or an alternative of your choice, such as jojoba, argan, sunflower, hemp seed, or sweet almond)*

½ cup oat milk (you can buy oat milk at your local merchant’s or you can make your own by adding a tablespoon of colloidal oatmeal to ½ cup of water)

1 tablespoon emulsifying wax

1 teaspoon glycerine

1 teaspoon Luecidal Liquid SF preservative

3 drops lavender essential oil (optional)**

3 drops chamomile essential oil (optional)**

3 drops pine essential oil (optional)**

2 drops frankincense essential oil (optional)**

1 clean and sterilized glass jar with lid.

Azeroth Times FISKEPUBLISHING
LIFESTYLE

Method

Combine the oil and emulsifying wax in a heatproof bowl and place over a saucepan that contains a few inches of water. Do not let the water touch the bottom of the bowl.

Over lowest heat possible, warm through until the wax has just melted

While the wax is melting, combine the oat milk and glycerine in a separate heatproof bowl and, on low temperature, heat until it is warm to the touch but not hot

Pour the glycerine mixture into the oil mixture, and using an immersion blender, mix the ingredients until they start to combine and thicken This should take approximately 1-2 minutes.

Once it has developed a lotionlike consistency, mix in the preservative and the essential oils, if using them

Scoop the lotion into the jar and close the lid tightly Store in a cool, dark place.

*If you have very dry skin you can swap half the oil for either shea or cocoa butter. If you have oily skin, jojoba is recommended **If you have sensitive skin, it is probably best to omit the essential oils. Essential oils can be irritating and are sensitizing (you may develop a sensitivity to them just by using them).
