LIGHT YOUR FIRE DREAM, EXPLORE & TRANSFORM WITH US PICK YOUR PACKAGE WHAT TO PACK MEET THE FIRESTARTERS

LIGHT YOUR FIRE EXPERIENCE THE CARIBBEAN’S PREMIER TRANSFORMATIONAL FESTIVAL NEW FIRE Festival is a dynamic, warm, inclusive and transformational festival. Our purpose is to be a catalyst for the creation of a new world of the most beautiful possibilities by inspiring and enabling the transformation of the way we live with each other and the planet. NFF was ignited in 2016 and we are excited for our 4th edition this year. The festival is the flagship programme of the Trinidad and Tobago Bridge Initiative, a non-profit organisation registered in 2011. Through NFF, TTBI achieves its mission of enabling sustainable development by connecting people to each other, resources and transformational opportunities.

DREAM, EXPLORE & TRANSFORM YOU ARE NEW FIRE Come immerse yourself in three days of zero-waste living, music, art, dance, food, craft, yoga, play, overnight camping, workshops and talks at NEW FIRE Festival 2019. Let us together dream, explore and transform! NEW FIRE Festival is a space for you to participate fully in every experience. The festival is a place of radical inclusion- get involved and exclude no one! The festival is a place of radical self expressionbe your authentic self! The festival is all about community- we are NEW FIRE! At NFF, your dreams come to life as you explore and connect with yourself, others and the environment, learning how we can work together to transform our world.

ZERO WASTE NFF is grounded in ecological sustainability. Our zero waste principle is one of the primary ways this is exemplified. Never heard of zero waste living? Put simply, zero waste = living without generating refuse that the ecosystem does not naturally and easily put to good use. When we send nothing to the landfill, we’re doing it right! The zero waste principle means consuming only what you need. Aim to Reduce what you need, Reuse it as many times as possible and Recycle whatever is left. Composting is the way we recycle organic refuse.

BE GOOD

TO YOURSELF, OTHERS & THE PLANET BY FOLLOWING OUR GUIDELINES FOR ZERO WASTE AT NFF:

BRING YOUR REUSABLE drink and food containers! We’ll have free filtered drinking-water available from Hydra-STATION and vendors in our marketplace will serve you in your food containers and cups.

WONDERING ABOUT WASHING UP? We’ll have wash up stations so just like at home, you can clean your containers after a meal and reuse them all weekend! At these stations, please be mindful of your water use and conserve water.

NO LITTERING! Leave no trace by using our organic waste bins (for food scraps and paper napkins); be sure to take everything back home with you that’s not used at the festival.

SHOWERS ARE PROVIDED for our campers but please conserve water by taking a shorter shower than usual.

LEAVE ALL SINGLEUSE ITEMS AT HOME. You can pack snacks, hygiene products and everything else you’ll need in reusable containers or bags.

FREE FILTERED WATER

AVAILABLE ALL WEEKEND, JUST BRING YOUR REUSABLE BOTTLE!

GREEN BUSINESS EXPO

This is a new addition to NFF where we will highlight companies who are focused on providing green products and services as well as agencies who are essential to our national sustainable development agenda.

EXHIBITORS CGA Limited has been an indigenous manufacturer of soaps, edible oils, margarines and shortenings for over 80 years. The Coconut Growers Association (CGA) was founded in 1937 by a group of coconut farmers who were interested in exporting coconut oil versus raw copra (dried coconut kernels). CGA’s products are vegan, cruelty free and eco-friendly and the company has continued their tradition of using Caribbean materials, knowledge and experience, providing both direct and indirect employment across the region. The iCARE Project is the first national recycling initiative in Trinidad & Tobago which began with the Environmental Management Authority’s (EMA) receipt of funding from the Green Fund in 2015. The Project engages the active participation of citizens in recycling beverage containers via a network of recyclable collection bins and primary processing depots. Environmental conservation efforts are

also heightened through collaboration, education and public awareness. The recycling infrastructure being established by the iCARE Project in schools and public spaces nationwide, is intended to prepare the country for the passage of the EMA’s Waste Rules and further support national sustainable development goals. The IDB Group is the leading source of development finance for Latin America and the Caribbean. It helps to improve lives by providing financial solutions and development know-how to public and private sector clients. The group comprises the IDB, which has worked with governments for 60 years; IDB Invest, which serves the private sector; and IDB Lab, which tests innovative ways to enable more inclusive growth. The Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) aims to protect and enhance the environment in Trinidad and Tobago through the provision of high quality, efficient, customer oriented, cost effective and sustainable waste collection, treatment, disposal, resource recovery and educational services. SWMCOL is dedicated to doing its part in helping the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to implement modern waste management practices and offers a variety of services in the areas of waste management and environmental protection.

Sygma Environmental is a certified service provider in the field of health, safety and the environment. With 19 years experience, their work has taken them throughout Tinidad and Tobago as well as in the region in places such as Guyana, Barbados and St. Kitts. In all they do, the company seeks to create healthy surroundings for individuals, minimize waste to landfills, reduce our carbon footprint and in so doing build a healthy and sustainable planet with regards for all. Sygma Environmental is proud to be a member of several organizations pursuing aligning agendas such as the Trinidad and Tobago Green Building Council, the Indoor Air Quality Association, the American Chamber of Commerce and the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Founded in 1982, the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) is a financial solutions provider headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago, with over TT$21 billion (US$3 billion) in funds under management, nine (9) Investment Centres and 10 Online Agencies across Trinidad and Tobago. They proudly serve their community of more than 600,000 unitholders and are more than just a financial services company. They make investments geared towards ensuring a

brighter future for their investors and the country they live and work in. They manage mutual fund investments for individuals and institutions along with specialised savings plans to meet the needs of children. Vetiver TT Ecological Engineering Solutions Ltd provides cost effective approaches to tackle a wide range of soil and water related challenges, such as: Slope Stabilization, Erosion Control, Property and Infrastructure Protection, Land Rehabilitation and the Phytoremediation (the treatment of contaminated land and waters). They do this by combining soil and water civil engineering expertise with the application of vetiver grass as a bio-engineering tool according to the Vetiver System (VS). Vetiver TT EES Ltd also works with various NGO outreach projects as a technical partner, to provide training and introduction of these cost-effective vetiver bio-engineering solutions to communities and environments whom can benefit from them. To date these have included the hillside farming community of Paramin, the rehabilitation of quarries in Sangre Grande, and the coastal community of Canaries in St Lucia.
